For Wi‑Fi, turn off Auto reconnect for the particular saved network; for Bluetooth, Samsung’s general guidance does not document one universal per-device auto-connect switch. You can unpair an accessory, or turn off a separate automatic-switching feature when one is available for Galaxy Buds or a supported Galaxy watch. Menu names and availability vary by model and software version.
Stop a saved Wi‑Fi network from reconnecting
- Open Settings > Connections > Wi‑Fi.
- Open the details or settings for the saved network you want to control.
- Turn Auto reconnect off.
This keeps the network saved, so you can connect to it manually later. Samsung also describes managing saved networks under Wi‑Fi Advanced settings > Manage networks, where Auto reconnect can be configured per network. The exact route and labels can differ across models and software versions. Samsung’s Wi‑Fi connection-options guide covers these settings.

Forget the network instead
Choose Forget if you do not want the phone to retain the network at all. Samsung’s Galaxy S23-series manual says a connected saved network reconnects whenever it is available and explains that Auto reconnect can be turned off; it also describes forgetting a network separately. Forgetting removes the saved relationship, so you will need to join and authenticate again if you want to use it later. The manual is specific to the Galaxy S23 series, so its wording is not guaranteed on every Galaxy phone. Samsung Galaxy S23-series user manual.

If Wi‑Fi still switches or turns on by itself
A network’s Auto reconnect setting controls that saved network, not every Wi‑Fi automation on the phone. If the phone continues changing networks or switching Wi‑Fi on or off in familiar places, check the separate Intelligent Wi‑Fi options in Samsung’s connection settings. Depending on model and carrier, these may include Switch to better Wi‑Fi networks and Turn Wi‑Fi on/off automatically. Change only the option that matches the behavior you want to stop. Samsung’s connection-options guide lists these controls.

For avoiding insecure public Wi‑Fi
Samsung describes Auto Blocker > Maximum restrictions as blocking automatic reconnection to previously joined non-secure Wi‑Fi networks. Samsung says Auto Blocker is available on One UI 6.0 and Maximum restrictions on One UI 6.1.1 in the software context covered by its support page. This is a broader security measure for non-secure networks, not the targeted way to stop one trusted network from reconnecting. Use it only if that broader protection is your goal and the feature is available on your phone. Samsung Auto Blocker guidance.
Stop a Bluetooth accessory from reconnecting
Samsung’s general Bluetooth instructions do not establish a universal Auto connect control for each paired device. Its documented device-specific way to prevent a saved pairing from reconnecting is to remove the pairing:

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

- Open Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
- Open the settings icon next to the paired device.
- Tap Unpair and confirm if prompted.
Unpairing removes the saved relationship; pair the accessory again when you want to use it. Samsung cautions that Bluetooth menus can vary by model and software version. Samsung Bluetooth connection guidance.

If the issue is compatible Galaxy Buds shifting audio between your Galaxy devices, look for Auto switch to other devices rather than a general Bluetooth reconnect switch. Samsung’s documented route is Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > settings next to Galaxy Buds > Auto switch to other devices; turn it off if present. Samsung describes this feature for compatible Buds and supported Galaxy devices, with conditions including One UI 3.1 or later and the same Samsung account in the use case described. Labels and availability depend on the devices and software. Samsung Galaxy Buds Auto switch guidance and Samsung connected-experience guidance.

Galaxy watches: turn off supported Auto switch
For supported paired Galaxy watches, Samsung places the setting in the Galaxy Wearable app: Menu > Settings > Auto switch. Turn it off to stop that automatic switching. The option appears only when more than one watch is connected, and Samsung says it is not for connecting one watch to multiple phones. This setting concerns watch switching, not ordinary Bluetooth reconnection. Samsung Auto switch guidance.
Choose the least disruptive control
| Goal | Control | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Keep a Wi‑Fi network saved but stop automatic joining | Turn off that network’s Auto reconnect | The network remains saved for manual connection. |
| Remove a saved Wi‑Fi network | Forget | The phone no longer keeps that network’s saved relationship; credentials are needed to join again. |
| Stop documented Galaxy Buds or watch cross-device switching | Turn off the relevant Auto switch setting, if available | The pairing remains; the specific switching feature is disabled. |
| Stop one ordinary Bluetooth accessory from reconnecting | Unpair | The pairing is removed; pair again to use the accessory. |
| Block every Bluetooth connection temporarily | Turn Bluetooth off in Quick Settings or Settings > Connections > Bluetooth | All Bluetooth devices and Bluetooth-dependent features are cut off until Bluetooth is turned on again. |
If the setting is missing
- Search Settings for Auto reconnect, Auto switch, or Forget.
- For a specific accessory, check its companion app or manual for accessory-specific behavior.
- Do not expect disabling Wi‑Fi scanning or Bluetooth visibility to stop a saved network or paired device from reconnecting; those are different behaviors.
A network reset is not the usual fix for an intentional auto-connection. Samsung notes that resetting connection settings removes saved Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth information, so it is more disruptive than changing one network’s setting or unpairing one accessory. Samsung Bluetooth connection guidance.
