To steam clean a Samsung oven, first confirm that your exact model has the Steam Clean function. On the general Samsung US procedure, remove the racks and accessories, add one cup of tap water to the Steam Clean tray—or onto the oven bottom if there is no tray—then select Steam Clean and Start. Let the oven cool before wiping away the water and loosened residue. Samsung says the feature is available only on some models, so check your model’s manual for its controls and instructions.
How do I steam clean my Samsung oven?
Use these steps for the general Samsung US Steam Clean setup. Your model’s manual takes precedence, particularly if the oven has a water reservoir or uses a different cycle name.

- Check that your oven supports Steam Clean. Consult the user manual for the exact model. Samsung’s US oven-cleaning instructions note that Steam Clean is available on some models, and control layouts vary.
- Empty the oven. Remove the racks and accessories, including a divider if your oven has one.
- Add water as your model directs. In Samsung’s general US instructions, use one cup of tap water—not distilled water—in the Steam Clean tray. If your oven has no tray, those instructions say to pour the water onto the oven bottom. Close the door.
- Start the cycle. Select Steam Clean and press Start. The button sequence depends on the control layout; follow the manual rather than assuming every knob or touchscreen model works the same way.
- Wait for the oven to cool, then wipe it out. After the cycle, use a sponge or soft, dry cloth to remove the water and loosened residue. The oven and remaining water are hot immediately after cleaning.
If your oven has a reservoir
Do not use the tray-or-oven-floor water instruction automatically on a reservoir-equipped model. Samsung’s US guidance says some such models may call the cycle Hybrid Clean and specifies 2¼ cups of water in the reservoir. Confirm the cycle name, fill location, and quantity in your model’s manual before starting.

Steam Clean uses water and heat to loosen lighter soil and spills. It is less intensive than Self Clean. Samsung describes it this way: “Steam Cleaning, available on some models, is a less intensive alternative to a full Self Clean cycle.”

Steam Clean is not a substitute for every kind of oven cleaning. For stubborn soil, Samsung’s guidance for a reservoir-equipped oven recommends removing it manually with a cleaning agent before activating Steam Clean; follow your own manual for the appropriate method.
Steam Clean vs. Self Clean vs. Steam Cook

Model-specific precautions
Samsung’s built-in oven manual for a reservoir-equipped model warns against opening the door before its Steam Clean cycle finishes because the water is very hot. It also advises leaving the door ajar after completion to dry the interior. These are instructions for that manual’s model, not a universal rule; follow the directions for your own oven.
