You can loop a classical music file or playlist in OBS and send it to YouTube, but OBS looping alone does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast. Before you go live, confirm that your channel can stream, clear rights to both the music and its recording, test the full setup, and plan for outages. For a stream that should keep running without a home computer, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative; the OBS method is below.
Before you start: channel access, music rights, and equipment
Confirm YouTube live-streaming eligibility
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Channel eligibility and activation are separate from setting up OBS, so check access in advance in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Clear the composition and the recording
A classical composition may be old enough for its underlying musical work to be public domain in some places, but that does not establish that a particular performance or recording is free to rebroadcast. Check the composition or arrangement and the specific recording separately, for the territories where viewers may watch and for both the live transmission and any archive.
YouTube’s live-stream terms require the necessary rights to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. YouTube scans live streams for third-party material; it may replace the broadcast with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it if identified content remains. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Archive claims can also appear after the stream ends. Keep written licenses, track lists, and any allowlisting confirmation, and test the exact repertoire before relying on it for a long broadcast. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Prepare the computer and media
You need a computer that can run OBS, a reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the chosen stream settings, and music and visual assets you are authorized to use. A static cover image is sufficient; do not add an image or other material unless you have the necessary rights. OBS’s Quick Start Guide recommends adding sources, checking the Audio Mixer, and testing before the real broadcast.
Create the YouTube stream and connect OBS
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or schedule an encoder stream. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for the current Studio workflow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. In the stream’s settings, copy both values. The stream key is a credential that lets an encoder send a feed to your channel: keep it private, and reset it if you believe it has been exposed. YouTube’s stream settings guidance explains the encoder details.
- Enter them in OBS. Open OBS and go to Settings > Stream. Choose YouTube as the service and enter the stream key; if your OBS version or workflow asks for a server, use the stream URL provided by YouTube. Apply the settings without sharing or showing the key on screen.
- Set up the video output. Choose a resolution and frame rate appropriate for your artwork and connection, then use the encoder settings OBS offers for your system. YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance gives its current recommendations for resolution, bitrate, and keyframe interval; use those rather than guessing. Leave upload bandwidth headroom for normal network variation.
Exact OBS labels and available encoder options can vary by version, operating system, and hardware. The cited YouTube setup guidance does not establish one bitrate or resolution that suits every connection; select a supported configuration and confirm the Live Control Room reports a healthy incoming signal during testing.

Build a looping music scene in OBS
For one continuous audio file
- In the OBS scene where you want the broadcast to appear, click + in Sources and add Media Source.
- Select the authorized audio file. OBS Media Source supports MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV audio formats.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties. Add an authorized static cover image as an Image source if you want a visible visual, and arrange it in the preview.
- Watch the Audio Mixer meters while the file plays. Listen through the start and end of the file, including the point where it loops, to check for silence, unexpected gaps, or abrupt transitions.
For a playlist of tracks
- Install VLC before using OBS’s VLC source.
- In Sources, click + and select VLC Video. Add the audio files to its playlist.
- Choose Loop Playlist to repeat the list, or Shuffle Playlist if you want the order randomized.
- Test multiple track transitions, playlist repeat behavior, levels, and any gaps before broadcasting.
OBS documents these playback controls in its Media Sources guide. A single Media Source is simpler for one long program file; VLC Video is suited to multiple files but adds a VLC dependency and makes transition testing especially important. Neither playback option provides stream redundancy.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Test, publish, and monitor the stream
- Run an unlisted test. Start with a short unlisted broadcast so you can check the complete path without presenting an unfinished setup publicly.
- Check both ends. Inspect the Live Control Room preview and the YouTube watch page. Confirm that the image appears, the audio is audible and at a stable level, and the stream is not showing warnings or interruptions.
- Publish when ready. Start the encoder early enough to check the incoming signal before making the broadcast public. Follow YouTube’s live-streaming tips and encoder guidance for setup and monitoring.
- Keep watching the operation. A loop can continue playing while the stream itself fails because of a computer, power, network, encoder, or YouTube ingestion problem. Plan who will monitor it and how you will respond if the source stops or the connection drops.
Plan for interruptions and the 24-hour archive
OBS can repeat a file or playlist; that does not keep the computer powered, repair a network failure, restart an encoder, or ensure YouTube continues receiving the feed. YouTube recommends leaving upload bandwidth headroom, testing the setup, and monitoring stream quality. The cited guidance does not validate any particular 24/7 failover design, so treat network, power, encoder recovery, local recording, and human monitoring as separate operational concerns.

- Blue VO!CE software: Elevate your streamings and recordings with clear broadcast vocal sound and entertain your audience with enhanced effects, advanced modulation and HD audio samples
- Four pickup patterns: Flexible cardioid, omni, bidirectional, and stereo pickup patterns allow you to record in ways that would normally require multiple mics, for vocals, instruments and podcasts
- Onboard audio controls: Headphone volume, pattern selection, instant mute, and mic gain put you in charge of every level of the audio recording and streaming process
- Positionable design: Pivot the mic in relation to the sound source to optimize your sound quality thanks to the adjustable desktop stand and track your voice in real time with no-latency monitoring
Do not promise viewers a complete replay of one continuous 24-hour stream. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, while a stream lasting more than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If replay matters, divide the broadcast into shorter sessions, record locally, and verify each archive after the session. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance and the encoder instructions.
