You can run a continuous Sanskrit shloka meditation stream from OBS by enabling live streaming on an eligible YouTube channel, connecting OBS with a stream key, and monitoring the broadcast. The important catch: YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive, so a single uninterrupted 24-hour event is not a dependable way to create a complete replay. Use recordings and visuals you have rights to, and plan for local recording and recovery if the stream stops.
Before you set up OBS
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction during the previous 90 days. Its general eligibility guidance also says streamers must be at least 16 years old. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio before configuring OBS: YouTube’s live-streaming enablement guidance.

Gather the content and rights
Prepare the audio recording and the image or video you intend to show. A Sanskrit verse’s age does not establish that a modern recording, musical arrangement, translation, artwork, or other visual is free to use. You are responsible for the rights to the material in both the live stream and any archive. Keep permission records, and confirm that any music licence covers the intended online use.
YouTube’s live-stream terms require creators to have the necessary worldwide rights for live content, including music licensing rights. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party material. A match can trigger a warning, replace the feed with a placeholder, interrupt the broadcast, or terminate it. For licensed material, YouTube advises asking the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; otherwise a live stream may still be interrupted. Set up OBS and connect it to YouTube
- Install and open OBS Studio. On first launch, run the Auto-Configuration Wizard. It considers whether you intend to stream or record, your computer’s hardware resources, and network conditions. Follow the OBS Quick Start Guide; there is no one output setting that can be prescribed for every computer and connection.
- Create a scene. In OBS, add a source for a static or gently changing meditation image. Add text such as the shloka title or transliteration if useful. These are content choices, not Sanskrit-specific requirements from OBS or YouTube.
- Check the audio source. Look at the Audio Mixer and confirm that the intended shloka recording is registering. Do not assume desktop audio or a microphone is the right input. Listen to a test recording or private test stream to catch silence, clipping, or unwanted system sounds before going public.
- Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Open Create → Go Live in YouTube Studio, then create or schedule a stream. YouTube’s encoder streaming instructions explain the flow. In the stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key.
- Enter the connection details in OBS. Open OBS’s streaming settings, select YouTube or the applicable YouTube connection option, and enter the stream URL and key if prompted. The key is a credential that directs the encoder feed to your stream and allows YouTube to accept it; keep it private. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio rather than continuing to use a compromised key. YouTube documents the settings at Manage your YouTube live stream settings.
- Test before announcing a public stream. Start with a short test. Check the Live Control Room preview, verify the watch page on desktop and mobile, confirm the audio is audible and the picture is correct, and make sure a local recording file is being created if you are recording locally. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream quality; its live-streaming tips include operational checks.
Plan for continuous operation and YouTube archives
Do not rely on one 24-hour replay
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is a possibility, not a guarantee that every shorter stream will produce a complete archive. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. If a complete replay matters, record locally and decide how you will divide or rotate events rather than promising viewers that one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will become a complete YouTube replay. YouTube’s guidance does not specify a universal rotation interval or guarantee a particular restart or recovery design.

Monitor and prepare a recovery plan
A 24/7 schedule needs an operator plan, not just an encoder configuration. Check the Live Control Room and the local recording during a test, and establish who will notice a stopped stream and how they will restart it. YouTube advises preparing encoder streams in advance, checking previews, testing failover where available, verifying that local archive files grow, checking access from channel and watch pages on mobile, and monitoring audio and video quality. These checks reduce avoidable surprises, but they are not an uptime guarantee.

Use stream settings and metadata deliberately
YouTube lets you reuse prior stream settings and keys, schedule streams, and configure options such as DVR, auto-start, and auto-stop. Scheduling can help viewers receive reminders. For discovery, use an accurate title and a description that identifies the devotional content and its source or permissions where relevant. YouTube says tags generally play only a minimal role, except when a topic is commonly misspelled; keyword stuffing is not a substitute for clear metadata.

When OBS is not the right fit
OBS keeps the encoding workload on the computer running it, so that computer and its network connection have to remain available for the DIY method above. YouTube describes cloud encoding or relay services as a way to reduce local-computer workload and potentially send a stream to multiple destinations. Those services vary; before choosing one, check YouTube compatibility, continuous-stream reliability, recovery behavior, plan limits, and whether multiple destinations are actually needed. Troubleshooting
- YouTube will not enable live streaming: Confirm the channel is verified, meets the age requirement, and has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Follow YouTube’s enablement page and check the channel’s current status.
- OBS connects but YouTube does not show the feed: Confirm you selected the intended scheduled or active stream, copied the correct stream URL and key, and did not replace the key in YouTube without updating OBS. Keep the key private.
- The preview is silent or has the wrong sound: Check the selected source and level in OBS’s Audio Mixer, then run another test. Avoid relying on an unintended microphone or desktop-audio source.
- The image or audio appears wrong on the watch page: Inspect the Live Control Room preview and test the actual watch page on desktop and mobile before launch. Correct the OBS scene or source rather than assuming the preview reflects the final setup.
- The stream is interrupted by a copyright match: Remove or replace the matched material unless you have the necessary rights. If it is licensed, ask the owner about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist; licensing alone may not prevent an automated interruption.
- A 24-hour broadcast has no complete YouTube archive: This is consistent with YouTube’s warning that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Use a local recording for backup and plan event rotation if a replay is important.
- The broadcast stops while unattended: Check the encoder, network, and Live Control Room, then follow your restart plan. YouTube’s operational guidance does not promise uninterrupted 24/7 operation.
