Yes—Samsung front-load washers can be stacked with compatible Samsung dryers, with the dryer always on top. The safe method is to identify both appliance model numbers, buy the stacking kit specified for that exact pair, follow that kit’s instructions, and have two people lift the dryer into position. Do not assume that a Samsung kit fits every Samsung laundry set.

The washer and dryer should be a compatible matching pair, and the manuals for both appliances identify the required stacking kit and installation space.
A top-load washer cannot be converted into a stacked Samsung set with a front-load dryer. Likewise, a front-load washer and dryer that happen to have the same brand or width are not automatically compatible. The mounting points, control layout, cabinet dimensions, and kit hardware must match the models listed by Samsung.

What “matching” means in practice
- Read the complete model number of the washer and the complete model number of the dryer.
- Check the washer manual, dryer manual, and the current Samsung compatibility information for a kit that names both models or the exact series.
- Confirm the pair’s format: standard 27-inch front load, compact 24-inch, Bespoke, heat-pump, or MultiControl.
- Use the installation instructions supplied with the selected kit. Standard and Bespoke kits do not necessarily use the same brackets or sequence.
If you cannot confirm a model-to-kit match, stop before purchasing or lifting anything. A retailer’s description such as “fits Samsung front-load machines” is not enough evidence for a safe installation.

The 27-inch and 24-inch measurements identify broad kit categories; they do not prove that a particular pair will mount safely. Check these dimensions
- Width: Allow the full cabinet width and any side clearance specified for the pair. Do not measure only the washer’s visible front panel.
- Depth: Include the dryer and washer bodies plus the space needed for power cords, water hoses, drain hoses, and the dryer vent or approved exhaust arrangement where applicable.
- Total height: Add the washer, dryer, and stacking hardware dimensions shown in the manuals. Leave the specified overhead room so the dryer can be lifted into place and so doors, controls, and ventilation are not obstructed.
- Rear access: Leave enough room to make connections without crushing a hose, power cord, or vent.
- Door swing and service access: Verify that both doors open fully and that a technician can reach the connections and fasteners later.
- Floor condition: The floor must be solid, level, and capable of supporting the combined operating load. Correct leveling issues before stacking.

- Stable work area: Clear the route, protect finished flooring, and remove obstacles from the appliance alcove.
- Electrical access: Unplug both appliances before beginning. Do not work on a connected machine.
- Manuals for both models: Keep them open to the installation and clearance pages during the work.

- Confirm the pair and kit. Compare the washer and dryer model numbers with the kit’s compatibility list. Read the complete installation sheet, including warnings, parts diagrams, and clearance requirements.
- Unplug both appliances. Disconnect power before removing or fitting any panel, bracket, or fastener. Close water supplies and disconnect hoses or the exhaust connection only as needed for safe movement.
- Prepare and level the washer. Put the washer in the working position on a solid, level floor. A washer that rocks or is out of level can transmit vibration to the dryer and make bracket alignment difficult. Follow the washer manual’s leveling procedure.
- Lay out the kit parts. Identify the left and right brackets, screws, covers, gap piece, and any control cable or trim supplied for your model. Do not mix parts from a standard kit with a Bespoke kit.
- Protect the dryer. For Samsung’s standard kit procedure, do not lay the dryer on the floor; doing so can scratch it. Keep the dryer upright and use the clear route you prepared.
- Install the washer-side hardware. Fit the brackets and any locating pieces exactly where the kit diagram shows. Start fasteners as directed, but do not leave a bracket loose or omit a specified screw.
- Lift the dryer with two people. Coordinate the lift and raise the dryer onto the washer. Keep fingers clear of the mating surfaces and do not drag the dryer across the washer’s top.
- Align the dryer and brackets. Make sure the locating tabs, holes, and cabinet edges are seated as shown in the kit instructions. If holes do not align, stop and recheck the model numbers and bracket orientation; never force a screw into a misaligned hole.
- Fasten the stack. Install every specified screw and tighten it using the kit’s sequence and method. Samsung’s general guidance says to ensure the screws are tightly fastened before moving the pair.
- Fit covers or gap trim. Install any supplied cover or finish piece only after the structural fasteners are secure. Do not use adhesive or improvised trim as a substitute for a structural bracket.
- Reconnect services. Reconnect power, water, drain, and dryer exhaust components according to each appliance manual. Ensure hoses and cords are not pinched behind the stack and that the exhaust arrangement has the clearance and routing Samsung specifies.
- Move the secured pair. With two adults controlling the load, slide or reposition the fastened stack into its final location without tipping it. Keep the rear connections protected while moving.
- Perform a final inspection. Check that the stack is level and stable, doors open freely, the dryer vent or exhaust path is unobstructed, and no cable or hose is under strain.
- Run a supervised test. Start a short washer cycle and a dryer cycle separately. Watch for rocking, unusual movement, leaks, rubbing, error messages, or exhaust problems. Stop immediately if the stack shifts or a connection leaks.
Why the standard and Bespoke procedures should not be combined
Samsung states that its standard and Bespoke kits use different brackets and steps. A procedure that looks correct for one family may place hardware in the wrong location on another. Use the instructions included with the exact kit, even if you have previously stacked a different Samsung pair.
Special cases that need extra verification
Bespoke appliances
Bespoke kits are tied to the model combinations and finishes listed by Samsung. Check the specification sheet for both model codes before ordering. Do not assume that a standard 27-inch kit will provide the correct brackets or appearance for a Bespoke pair.
Compact 24-inch pairs
Samsung lists SKK-DF-A1 for its 24-inch compact front-load pair. Compact width alone is not enough: verify that the washer and dryer are the specific compact models covered by that kit and that the room provides the required depth and height.

Samsung lists SKK-8HK for the 6000 Series heat-pump front-load pair. Heat-pump equipment can have different cabinet and connection requirements, so use the heat-pump kit and manuals rather than adapting a standard kit.

MultiControl combinations
A MultiControl combination kit can provide both stacking hardware and the feature’s control connection for compatible models. Check compatibility for both appliances and decide whether the control feature is needed before paying for a combination kit. Physical stacking compatibility and control compatibility are separate checks.

The kit does not appear to fit
Stop forcing the brackets. Re-read both model numbers, including suffixes, and compare them with the kit’s compatibility list. Check whether you bought a standard, Bespoke, compact, heat-pump, or MultiControl kit. If the models are not explicitly covered, obtain the correct kit or ask Samsung for model-specific confirmation.
Screw holes are misaligned
Misalignment usually indicates an incorrectly oriented bracket, an incompletely seated dryer, or an incompatible kit. Remove the dryer only with two people, inspect the diagram, and restart the alignment step. Do not drill new holes or replace the supplied screws.

Unplug the machines and check that the washer is level on a solid floor. Recheck the leveling procedure, bracket seating, and screw tightness. If movement continues, do not operate the stack until the installation has been inspected.

There is not enough room behind the stack
Do not compress hoses, cords, or the dryer exhaust to make the pair fit. Re-measure using the clearances in both manuals and provide the specified rear and overhead space. A different location or professional installation may be necessary.
A door, cover, or control cannot be used normally
Check that the pair is not pushed too far into the alcove and that no trim piece is installed in the wrong position. Confirm that the kit is intended for the exact appliance finish and model family.
You are unsure about lifting or fastening
Leave the appliances unplugged and arrange installation help. Samsung describes installation service as an option when service is selected with the kit and appliances, although availability and terms depend on the purchase and location.
Professional installation, price, and availability
The exact kit price, stock status, and installation charge cannot be determined without your country, retailer, and appliance model numbers. Samsung’s US and Canada offerings may use different names or part numbers. Check the current local listing and confirm that the service covers stacking the specific pair, not merely delivery.
Professional installation is especially sensible when the machines must be carried up stairs, the alcove is tight, the dryer is a heat-pump or Bespoke model, the floor needs correction, or you cannot safely coordinate a two-person lift. Ask what the installer will verify: model compatibility, leveling, brackets, clearances, connections, and a final operating test.
Decision checklist before you order or lift
- Both machines are Samsung front-load models.
- The dryer will be installed above the washer.
- You have recorded both complete model numbers.
- The selected kit explicitly covers that washer and dryer combination.
- You have checked whether the pair is standard 27-inch, compact 24-inch, Bespoke, heat-pump, or MultiControl.
- The manuals provide enough width, depth, rear, side, and overhead clearance in the intended location.
- The floor is level and strong enough for the combined appliances.
- Two adults are available for the dryer lift and any repositioning.

- All fasteners will be tight before the pair is moved into its final position.

What Samsung’s guidance does—and does not—establish
Samsung’s official documents establish the basic orientation, the two-person lift requirement, the need for model-specific kits, and the importance of manual-defined clearances and secure fasteners. They do not provide a universal kit, a single installation dimension for every pair, a marketwide success rate, or a guaranteed price and availability in every country.
That distinction matters when comparing listings. A 27-inch reference identifies the broad SKK-8K category, and a 24-inch reference identifies the compact category; neither is a promise that every machine of that width will stack. The model numbers and the instructions supplied for the exact kit remain the deciding evidence.
