Check a Warcraft release or preorder against Blizzard’s own announcement before paying. Match the exact edition, contents, region, seller, delivery date, full price and refund terms; a familiar marketplace name, HTTPS padlock or unusually convincing listing does not prove that the individual seller is legitimate.
Verify the release through Blizzard, not the message selling it
Open Blizzard’s official World of Warcraft news or store pages by typing the address yourself or using a saved bookmark. Don’t follow an unexpected email, chat or social-media link to a supposed announcement. Confirm that Blizzard has announced the product and compare the listing with the announcement for that specific release. Details from one edition should not be assumed to apply to another.

A Blizzard announcement can confirm that a product exists and identify the channels Blizzard names; it does not establish that every marketplace, shop or individual marketplace seller is authorized. On a marketplace, check who will actually take payment and fulfill the order—not just the platform hosting the listing.

Use the Forever Collector’s Edition as a concrete comparison
Blizzard’s September 24, 2026 announcement describes additional English versions of the World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition. It names the Blizzard Gear Store and retailers in North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The announcement does not confirm Amazon availability or authorize any particular marketplace seller.

The announced restock orders are expected to ship and arrive in February 2027, after the game’s November 4, 2026 launch. Blizzard states a limit of one copy per household for Blizzard Gear Store orders. The edition includes physical collectibles and a digital code for the Warcraft Forever Collection, with the digital contents specified in the announcement. Retailer participation, stock and delivery timing can change, so check the live notice and the seller’s current terms before ordering.
Compare the listing on the details that matter
Use this checklist before entering payment information. A mismatch is a reason to pause and verify, not proof by itself that a listing is fraudulent.

- Edition and contents: Compare the exact product name, included physical items and any digital code or other digital contents with Blizzard’s announcement. Watch for a standard edition presented as a collector’s edition, missing items, or a code whose region or redemption terms are unclear.
- Seller and territory: Identify the business or marketplace seller responsible for the sale. Check whether it serves your region and whether the listing’s territory matches the product’s stated availability.
- Timing and condition: Compare the promised launch, shipping or arrival date with the official announcement. Read whether the item is new, used, opened, a preorder or a restock; don’t treat an estimated date as a guarantee.
- Total price and fine print: Include shipping, handling and taxes. Read cancellation, return and refund terms before paying. The FTC cautions that an unusually low offer for an expensive branded product can indicate counterfeit or stolen goods, and advises shoppers to read the fine print.
- Seller reputation: Search the seller or product name with “complaint” or “scam,” and compare reviews across sources. The FTC warns that ratings and reviews can be fake or misleading, so don’t rely on a high score alone.
- Payment method: Prefer a method with recourse. The FTC says credit-card protections may apply when goods are not received or are wrong or defective. Avoid a seller who insists on gift cards, wire transfers, payment apps or cryptocurrency.
HTTPS encrypts information sent between your browser and a website; it does not verify the seller’s identity or show that Blizzard endorses the store. A padlock or secure-looking URL is not proof that a site belongs to Blizzard or is an authorized retailer.

Recognize Warcraft phishing and impersonation attempts
Blizzard’s September 29, 2026 phishing guidance warns that messages may pretend to come from Game Masters, support representatives or guild members, and may use beta access or other special offers as bait. Warning signs include urgent threats of account penalties or closure, requests for account information, misleading links and poor grammar. Sender names and return addresses can be spoofed; inspect a link’s actual destination without opening it, and don’t provide credentials through an unsolicited message.

In-game mail and chat
Blizzard says genuine employee mail carries a Blizzard logo and genuine Game Master whispers have a blue Blizz tag and appear in a special chat box. A name containing “[GM]” or Blizzard-like text is not proof of staff identity. Use the game’s Report Player controls to report suspicious mail or chat.
Discord contacts
Blizzard warns that Discord accounts may claim to work for the company while using official-looking images or branding. Blizzard Customer Support representative Vrakthris wrote on September 29, 2026: “Blizzard employees will never ask for your password or ask you to provide your account credentials through Discord.” Don’t give a supposed employee credentials or follow their links; verify the claim through Blizzard’s own channels.

If you already clicked, shared information or paid
If you clicked a suspicious link
Stop interacting with the message and don’t enter account details. If you shared credentials, use Blizzard’s official account-support route to secure the account rather than returning through the message link. Blizzard recommends reporting suspicious email as spam to your email provider; suspicious email headers can also help identify its origin. Use the in-game reporting controls for suspicious mail or chat, and block or report a Discord impersonator as appropriate.
If an order is missing or different from the listing
First contact the seller or site owner and keep records of the response. Save the order confirmation, seller name and website, listing details, date and amount paid, advertised delivery date, return policy, messages and payment statements. The FTC accepts reports at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. For a credit-card purchase that was not delivered or arrived wrong or defective, contact the card issuer promptly about disputing the charge. Available rights and remedies depend on location, payment method and purchase details.

For digital content bought as a preorder from a third-party retailer, Blizzard’s End User License Agreement directs customers to that retailer for information about withdrawal options. That clause concerns third-party digital purchases; it should not be treated as a universal rule for physical products or as a complete statement of local consumer rights. Direct Blizzard purchases have separate rules that can vary by region and whether access has begun.
