To disconnect another device from your Google Account, sign it out remotely: open Google Account > Security & sign-in > Your devices > Manage all devices, select the device or session, then choose Sign out. Check for more than one session with the same device name and sign out of each one you want to disconnect.
Google calls this signing out, not “unsyncing.” It stops account access for that session; it does not remotely reset the device or promise to erase files already downloaded to it.

How to sign out a device from your Google Account
- On a device you control, open your Google Account settings.
- Select Security & sign-in.
- Under Your devices, select Manage all devices.
- Choose the device or session you want to disconnect, review its details, and select Sign out.
- If the device appears more than once, repeat for each relevant session.
Google Account Help explains that a session is a period when you are signed in to your account through a browser, app, or service on a device. That means the list may show multiple sessions associated with one physical device. Review the entries rather than assuming that signing out of one entry covers all of them. Google’s guide to devices with account access also notes that an activity time can reflect background communication or syncing, not necessarily someone using the device at that exact moment.

You still have the device
If it is your own phone, tablet, or computer, you can sign out from the device itself or use the remote device list above. Remote sign-out is useful when you cannot reach the device or want to end a particular account session.

Someone else used your browser
On a browser you can access, sign out of your Google Account and remove the account from the browser’s sign-in page. If you saved your password on someone else’s device, change it and confirm that your account is signed out. Google documents these steps in its guidance on staying signed in or out of a Google Account and signing in to multiple accounts.
Your phone, tablet, or Chromebook is lost
Use Google’s lost-device instructions to sign out and remove Google Account access and connected apps from a lost phone, tablet, or Chromebook. The available controls depend on the device and its status. See Google’s instructions for locking or erasing a lost phone or computer. For a lost Windows, Mac, or Linux computer, Google says it is not listed under Find your phone and advises changing your Google Account password.

If you suspect someone else accessed your account
Signing out is only one step if a device or activity is unfamiliar. Review the device list and recent security events. If an event was not yours, select No, it wasn’t me and follow the account-security steps Google presents. Also check Gmail settings for forwarding rules and filters that you did not create. Google’s compromised-account guidance covers reviewing activity and securing access.
- Sign out of every unfamiliar or unwanted session in the device list.
- Follow Google’s security prompts and recovery steps for suspicious activity.
- If your password may have been saved on someone else’s device, change it and verify sign-out.
- Check Gmail forwarding and filters for changes you do not recognize.
What signing out does—and does not do
Remote sign-out ends the selected session’s access to your Google Account. It is not a factory reset, and Google’s instructions do not promise that it deletes information already stored or downloaded on the device. If your concern is a lost device, use the appropriate lost-device controls rather than treating account sign-out as remote erasure.
