Choose the right kind of sign-out

If you are trying to remove Netflix, YouTube, or another streaming account from a shared television, start inside that app. Signing out of the manufacturer’s account is a separate action.

Sign out on the TV
- Open the streaming app you want to sign out of.
- Open its profile or account page, or check Settings or Help if there is no obvious profile control.
- Select Sign out or Log out. Choose Remove account only if you want to remove that account from the app on the TV.
- Confirm if prompted, then check whether the app returns to its sign-in screen.
Labels and navigation vary by service, television brand and model, app version, and region. If the expected option is missing, use the service’s official TV-specific support instructions rather than assuming that every app has the same shortcut.

Netflix
Netflix’s TV-app instructions describe opening the app menu with the remote’s Back button, selecting Get Help, and then choosing Sign out. In some layouts, Get Help is at the bottom of a left-side menu. See Netflix’s TV app troubleshooting instructions.

If that route is unavailable, Netflix documents this fallback sequence for some TV app interfaces: press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up. A menu may then offer sign-out, reset, or deactivate options. This is a Netflix-specific fallback for some interfaces, not a universal code for smart-TV apps.
YouTube
- Open YouTube’s left-side menu and select your profile picture to open the accounts page.
- Select the account you want to act on.
- Choose Sign out to sign out, or Remove Account to remove that account from YouTube on that TV.

Other streaming apps
Look for the same kinds of controls—profile, account, settings, or help—but follow the app’s own instructions. A menu path that works in one service may not exist in another.
Sign out remotely if you no longer have the TV
Use the provider’s official account controls from a phone or computer. Remote controls differ: some let you select one device, while others revoke a broader permission or sign out more than one session.

Netflix: sign out one device or all devices
Open Netflix’s Manage Access and Devices page and use its sign-out controls for a device or for all devices. The list can take up to 48 hours to show a device, and Netflix says it does not include every device; inactive devices and some types of activity may be omitted. Therefore, a TV missing from the list is not proof that the account was never used on it.
YouTube: revoke YouTube on TV access
Google documents remote sign-out through device activity and a separate option to remove YouTube on TV access in Google Account permissions. Removing that permission signs the account out of devices using YouTube on TV; it is broader than removing the account from YouTube on just one television. Follow the available controls in YouTube Help.

Disney+: manage devices
In a mobile or web browser, sign in to Disney+, open your profile and Account, then under Access & Security select Manage Devices. Choose the device or devices and log them out. Disney+ says device details can include device type, general last-used location, activity date and time, and—where profile age requirements apply—the last-used profile. A TV maker’s account supports system-level services; removing it is not the same as signing out of an individual streaming app. For example, Samsung’s instructions give this path: Settings / All Settings / Samsung Account, choose the account, open My Account, then select Sign Out. Samsung warns that signing out removes the Samsung account from the TV, deletes synced data on the TV, and makes smart features unavailable until you sign in again. What not to try first
- Do not delete the app as a substitute for its sign-out control. Deleting an app is a separate app-management action; LG’s app installation and deletion guidance covers that function, not account sign-out.
- Do not factory-reset the TV just to sign out of one app. A reset is broader than the account-level action you are trying to take.
- A replacement remote is not normally needed. Consider one only if your remote is missing or its navigation buttons do not work; first check whether the service offers another supported route.
If the sign-out option is missing
- Check the app’s profile, account, settings, and help areas.
- Search the service’s official support instructions for the TV-app sign-out path.
- If you no longer have the television, use that service’s official device or permissions controls where available.
On a hotel or borrowed TV, sign out from the app before leaving if you can. If you have already left, use the service’s remote controls when offered; their device coverage and scope are not identical across services.
