To sign out of Prime Video on a Roku, open Prime Video on the player and look in the app’s settings for a sign-out or deregistration option. If the app does not give you a usable route, Amazon’s Prime Video help recommends deregistering the Roku from your account: go to Account & Settings > Devices and select Deregister next to the Roku. Menu labels can vary by app version, so the wording on your screen may differ from what is written here.
Sign out from the Prime Video app on the Roku
- Open the Prime Video app on the Roku.
- Open the app’s settings and look for a sign-out or deregistration option.
- Complete the sign-out the app presents.
If the app shows no sign-out option, or the option does not work, use the remote method below.

Deregister the Roku remotely when the app has no sign-out option
Amazon’s help page for sign-in and sign-out problems gives this fallback, which you can use from any browser:
- Sign in to Prime Video through a web browser on a computer or phone.
- Open Account & Settings.
- Select Devices.
- Select Deregister next to the Roku you want to remove.
Amazon’s wording for this route: “If you are unable to sign out, browse to Devices on Account & Settings. Click Deregister next to the device you want to remove.” (Amazon Prime Video Help, “Issues during Sign In or Sign Out on Prime Video”)

Switch to a different Amazon account on the same Roku
You do not need a separate sign-out to change accounts. Reopen Prime Video on the Roku and sign in with the other Amazon account. If the first account is still registered on the Roku and you want it gone, deregister that Roku from the first account’s Devices page as described above.
Sign out a guest in Roku Guest Mode
Guest Mode is a separate Roku feature with its own sign-out routes. Roku’s support article on Guest Mode describes both of the following.

Sign out on the Roku itself
Go to Home > Guest Mode Options > Sign out and clear info. This signs the guest out of apps and clears the guest’s information from the player.

The Roku account holder can choose Sign Guest Out in the Roku account to end a guest session without using the player. See Roku Support, “How to use Guest Mode on a Roku streaming device”.

Sign-out is not the same as canceling, removing, or unlinking
Several Roku and Prime Video actions look similar but change different things. The table compares them.

Before you sell, return, or give away a Roku
Handing off a player leaves its Prime Video registration in place unless you remove it. Roku’s guidance points to these steps:

- Deregister Prime Video first. Use Account & Settings > Devices and select Deregister next to the Roku. Amazon’s Devices page is where the Prime Video registration is removed.
- Check Roku-billed subscriptions. Unlinking the player does not cancel them.
- Unlink the player from the Roku account. Roku’s Canada support article, How do I remove a Roku streaming device from my Roku account?, describes this process. Account steps can differ by country, so check the article for your region.
- Factory reset the player. Roku recommends this before returning, selling, or giving the device away.
