To sign in to a Samsung account on a Galaxy phone, open Settings, tap the Samsung account or profile area at the top, and follow the prompts to enter your account ID and password. If asked, complete two-step verification. Menu names and available sign-in options can differ by device, software version, and region.
How do I sign into my Samsung account on my phone?
- Open Settings.
- Tap the Samsung account or profile entry at the top. On some software versions, account setup may be under Accounts and backup.
- Enter your Samsung account ID and password. The ID is often an email address.
- Follow the on-screen prompts, including reviewing or accepting any terms shown in that sign-in flow.
- Complete two-step verification if prompted. Use one of the methods offered for your account, such as a notification on another Galaxy device, a text message, an authenticator app, or a backup code.
Samsung notes that someone who has already set up an account on the phone may be signed in automatically. The exact labels and verification choices depend on the phone, software version, region, and account settings. What if I can’t get the verification code?
On the verification screen, choose Didn’t receive the verification code? and check the alternate methods Samsung offers for your account. Depending on what you previously set up, you may be able to verify through:
- A prompt on another Galaxy device already signed in to the account.
- A text message to the registered phone number.
- An authenticator app.
- A saved backup code.
If you can access the registered email and have a Galaxy device already signed in, Samsung’s US troubleshooting guidance also describes an email verification route followed by approval on that signed-in device. Recover a forgotten account ID or password
Find a forgotten account ID
Start the account ID lookup from Samsung’s sign-in or recovery flow and complete the identity checks shown. Samsung India’s guide describes this route on a Galaxy phone: Settings > Samsung account > Forgot password or don’t have an account? Exact screens and recovery choices may vary by region and account. Samsung India’s account ID guide provides the documented steps.
Reset a forgotten password
Choose Forgot password in Samsung’s official recovery flow, then complete the verification method offered for your account. Samsung describes phone or email verification and, in some flows, security questions. After resetting the password, sign in with the new one; Samsung may request two-step verification again. What if I changed or lost my verification phone number?
First try an already signed-in Galaxy device or a saved backup code, if available. If you need Samsung to change the phone number used for two-step verification, its US support page says the request can take up to two weeks for security reasons. Submitting another request before the first is complete resets that two-week timeline. If you cannot access either the account email or phone, Samsung UK’s recovery guidance directs you to Customer Support. Can I skip Samsung account setup for now?
In the setup flow covered by Samsung’s One UI 6.1 FAQ, you can choose Set up later in Settings and then Skip. This applies to that documented setup context; it does not provide access to features that require a Samsung account. The FAQ is specific to One UI 6.1, so screens may differ on other versions.
