How to Sign In to Starlink When Your Passkey Isn’t Available

If your Starlink passkey cannot be used, start with Starlink’s account-recovery page rather than assuming the passkey is permanently required. Choose password recovery by the email address on your account or by its mobile phone number. Starlink says either reset flow signs you in automatically after the reset. If you cannot access either contact method, use the locked-out recovery form to open a support ticket. The documented pages do not explain a separate passkey-bypass or passkey-replacement process, so follow the recovery route that matches the contact method you can actually use.

What Starlink officially documents when a passkey is unavailable

Starlink’s published help guidance covers password resets, email and SMS verification, app and browser troubleshooting, and support escalation. It does not describe a Starlink-specific procedure for bypassing, removing, replacing, or recovering a passkey. That means you should not assume that Starlink offers a particular “use password instead” button or that deleting a passkey from your device will restore access.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

The supported route documented by Starlink is account recovery through the contact information already attached to your account. Use the email route when you can open the account email; use SMS when the account phone is a mobile number that can receive text messages; and use the locked-out form when neither channel is available.

A passkey problem and an account-recovery problem can look similar on screen, but they are not necessarily the same issue. You may be unable to unlock the device that stores the passkey, be using a browser without the credential, or be stopped at a separate two-step verification prompt. Identify which prompt you are seeing before requesting repeated resets. A password reset addresses account access; a two-step code addresses a verification step; neither Starlink’s cited guidance nor the recovery form explains how passkey enrollment itself changes.

Before you start: identify the contact method you can use

Have the account email address and the phone number on file in front of you, even if one of them is currently inaccessible. The recovery choice is based on the contact information attached to the Starlink account, not simply any email address or phone that is convenient today.

  • Email available: You can open the inbox associated with the Starlink account and receive a reset message.
  • Mobile phone available: The number recorded on the account can receive SMS messages now.
  • Neither available: You need Starlink’s locked-out form and an alternate way for an agent to contact you.
  • Only a landline is listed: A landline cannot receive the SMS reset option, so use email recovery or the locked-out route.

Do not create a second Starlink account just because the passkey is unavailable. The recovery process is intended to reconnect you with the existing account and its service information.

Choose the recovery route that matches your access

Route Use it when What you need What Starlink says happens
Email recovery You can access the email address on the Starlink account. Access to that inbox and the reset message titled “Reset Your Starlink Password.” After the password reset, Starlink says you are signed in automatically.
SMS recovery You cannot use the account email but can receive texts at the phone number on file. A mobile phone able to receive SMS messages. After following the SMS reset instructions, Starlink says you are signed in automatically.
Locked-out recovery You cannot access either the account email or the phone number. Alternate contact information and enough account details to complete Starlink’s verification flow. The form’s email verification and assistant flow creates a support ticket for a Starlink agent.

A landline cannot receive the SMS reset option. If the number on the account is a landline, use email recovery or the locked-out process instead.

Recover access with the account email

  1. Open Starlink’s account-recovery page from the Starlink sign-in screen.
  2. Choose the option to recover by email and enter the email address associated with your Starlink account.
  3. Request the password reset message.
  4. Open the message titled Reset Your Starlink Password. Check the spam, junk, promotions, quarantine, or other filtered folders if it does not appear in the main inbox.
  5. Follow the reset link and create a new password. This gives you a credential to enter manually if the passkey remains unavailable, but the help pages do not promise that every device will immediately show a password option beside its passkey prompt.
  6. Return to Starlink if necessary and confirm that the account session opens. Starlink’s instructions state that completing this reset flow automatically signs the customer in.

If the reset message never arrives, verify the spelling of the address you entered and make sure you are checking the inbox belonging to the Starlink account. Search for the exact subject, “Reset Your Starlink Password,” rather than relying only on a sender-name search. Check organizational mail quarantine or filtering if the inbox is managed by an employer or another administrator.

Request a fresh reset only after checking those folders, then use the newest message you receive. Keep one recovery attempt active at a time: several open links or tabs can make it unclear which reset session is current. If you still cannot use the email account, switch to SMS recovery if the mobile number on file is available instead of repeatedly submitting email requests.

Recover access by SMS

  1. Open the same Starlink account-recovery page.
  2. Select recovery by phone rather than email.
  3. Enter the mobile number associated with the Starlink account and request the reset.
  4. Read the SMS and follow its reset instructions. Enter the code or open the provided link exactly as instructed.
  5. Create a new password, then continue into the account. Starlink says this route also automatically signs you in after the reset.

This option depends on receiving SMS at the number stored on the account. It will not work with a landline, a disconnected number, or a phone that cannot receive messages. If you recently changed numbers, try the old number that is still recorded on the account; if you cannot access it, move to locked-out recovery.

Confirm that the number you enter is the account’s number, including the appropriate country or area format shown by the recovery page. A phone that has service today is not enough if it is not the number Starlink has on file. If the message does not arrive, check that the phone has cellular service and can receive ordinary texts, then request a new reset. Do not share the SMS contents with a caller, text sender, or supposed helper.

Use locked-out recovery when both contact methods are unavailable

When you cannot open the account email and cannot receive SMS at the phone number on file, Starlink directs customers to its locked-out recovery form. This is the documented escalation path, not a passkey workaround that you can complete entirely on your device.

  1. Open Starlink’s account-recovery page and select the option indicating that you are locked out or cannot access the listed contact methods.
  2. Provide alternate contact information where the support team can reach you. Use an inbox you can open and monitor.
  3. Submit the requested account and identity details accurately. Use information associated with the Starlink account rather than a newly created account.
  4. Complete the email-verification step sent to the alternate address.
  5. Continue through Starlink’s assistant flow. Starlink says this process creates a support ticket for an agent.
  6. Monitor the alternate inbox for replies and respond from the same address so the ticket remains connected to your request.

Prepare the account email, the phone number on file, and any service or account details the form requests before starting. Explain plainly that the passkey is unavailable and state whether the original email and phone are inaccessible. Also identify any separate two-step verification-code problem. Clear descriptions help distinguish a credential issue from a delivery or browser issue without asking you to disclose secret credentials.

Do not submit multiple contradictory forms while waiting. If you regain access to the original email or phone during the process, use the normal reset flow and mention the existing support ticket if Starlink asks for context. Never put a password, passkey private key, or one-time code in the form or in an email reply.

Do not confuse a verification code with a passkey

Starlink’s two-step-verification guidance concerns temporary verification passcodes. A passkey is a different sign-in credential stored on a device, browser, or credential manager. The verification-code instructions therefore help only when Starlink is asking for a two-step code; they do not establish a passkey-replacement procedure.

If you entered the verification code incorrectly

Retry with the newest code and enter it exactly as received. If you requested another code, use that latest message rather than alternating between older messages. Start a new request if the current code is rejected, then enter the replacement carefully.

If the code has not arrived by email

  • Check spam, junk, promotions, quarantine, and other filtered folders.
  • Confirm that you are checking the email address attached to the Starlink account.
  • Request a new code and use the most recent message.
  • Make sure a browser extension, mail rule, or organizational filter is not moving or blocking Starlink messages.

If email is inaccessible but the phone works

Choose the SMS option when Starlink offers it and use the code sent to the mobile number on the account. This is a verification-code alternative, not proof that SMS replaces a missing passkey in every sign-in situation.

If neither email nor SMS delivers a code

Starlink’s guidance is to contact support through another available route. Do not share a code with anyone claiming to be able to “unlock” the account. Starlink states: “Starlink will never call or text you for this passcode. Do not share it with anyone.” Treat an unsolicited request for a passcode as unsafe, even if the sender knows your name or service details.

Fix app, browser, and network problems before requesting another reset

A missing passkey can be made worse by an outdated app, an unsupported browser, blocked cookies, or a VPN interfering with account messages. Try these checks before repeating recovery requests.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Update the Starlink app

Install the latest version available for your device, then close and reopen the app. An older build may not display the current sign-in or recovery controls correctly. If the app remains stuck, try the Starlink website in a supported browser so you can determine whether the problem is app-specific.

Use a supported, default browser

If the recovery page loops, opens blank, or rejects a link, retry in a current supported browser. Make it the device’s default browser temporarily so links from email or SMS open in the same environment where the recovery session began. Avoid jumping between an in-app browser and a separate browser during one reset attempt.

Temporarily disable a VPN

Turn off the VPN while requesting a reset, verification code, or email. A VPN can change the apparent network location or interfere with the request. Re-enable it after you finish signing in if you normally use one. If the request works with the VPN off, complete the sign-in first and then test whether your normal network settings work again.

Check JavaScript and cookies

Starlink’s troubleshooting guidance calls for checking browser settings, including enabled JavaScript and cookies. Privacy modes or extensions that block either can prevent the assistant, reset form, or verification step from completing. Temporarily allow the Starlink sign-in page, then retry. If you use strict tracking protection, content blocking, or a script-blocking extension, pause it for the recovery session rather than changing unrelated account settings.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Retry from a clean session

Close duplicate Starlink tabs, start one new private or clean browser session, and begin a fresh recovery request. Use only the newest email or SMS link. This avoids mixing an expired reset session with a newer one. If a link opens in a browser that cannot complete the form, copy the official Starlink page address into the supported browser instead of repeatedly opening the same failed tab.

What to do when recovery still fails

Use Starlink’s support channels through the app or website when you can open either one. If you cannot authenticate, use the unauthenticated request route provided for customers who are unable to access their account. Support availability and contact methods vary by region, so follow the support options shown for your country rather than relying on a phone number published for another market.

There is no universal phone number or universal sequence for every Starlink market in the documented guidance. The regional support page is the safer starting point because it shows the route available where your account is registered. If the website cannot be used, check whether the app offers a support path without a completed sign-in; otherwise use the unauthenticated web request route.

Information to include in a support request

  • The email address currently associated with the account, even if you cannot open it.
  • The phone number on the account and whether it is a mobile number or landline.
  • The service address or other account details requested by the form.
  • Whether the failure involves a passkey, a password reset, a two-step code, or more than one of these.
  • The exact error message and the device, app version, or browser used.
  • Which recovery routes you already attempted and whether any message or code arrived.
  • Whether the failure changed after updating the app, changing browsers, disabling a VPN, or allowing JavaScript and cookies.

Never include a password, passkey private key, or one-time verification code in a support form or reply. Starlink’s warning about passcodes applies even when someone claims to be helping with recovery. Keep copies of ticket confirmations and reply through the same verified contact channel whenever possible.

Passkey-specific questions Starlink’s guidance does not answer

Can I disable or delete the Starlink passkey?

The cited Starlink help pages do not explain how to remove or replace a passkey. Do not delete credentials or reset a device on the assumption that this will change Starlink’s account requirements. Use the documented email, SMS, or locked-out recovery route instead.

Does Starlink guarantee a password option when a passkey is missing?

No published instruction in the cited guidance guarantees a password fallback specifically for a missing passkey. Password reset is documented as an account-recovery method, but Starlink does not describe how that reset interacts with passkey enrollment on every device or browser.

Is a two-step verification code a replacement for a passkey?

No. The code process is described for two-step verification. It should be treated as a separate security step, not evidence that a passkey can be bypassed with a code.

Should I remove the passkey from my phone or browser first?

No instruction in the cited help pages says that removing a device credential is required. Leave the credential in place while you try the documented recovery routes, and ask Starlink support about account-specific passkey management if recovery succeeds but the passkey prompt remains.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can support tell me my one-time code?

Do not expect or permit that. Starlink says it will never call or text you for the two-step passcode, and you should not share it with anyone. Support can receive the description of the problem, but the code itself remains private.

A practical decision checklist

  1. Can you open the account email? Use email recovery and follow “Reset Your Starlink Password.” Check filtered folders and use the newest reset message.
  2. If not, can the account’s mobile number receive SMS? Use phone recovery. A landline is not eligible for SMS reset, and a different current number may not be attached to the account.
  3. Can you receive neither email nor SMS? Submit the locked-out recovery form with alternate contact information and complete the assistant flow to create a support ticket.
  4. Are you waiting for a verification code? Retry the newest code, check spam, request another code, and switch to SMS when available. Keep this process separate from passkey troubleshooting.
  5. Is the page or app malfunctioning? Update the app, use a supported/default browser, disable the VPN during requests, and allow JavaScript and cookies.
  6. Does every route fail? Use Starlink’s regional support options, including the unauthenticated request route for customers who cannot sign in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sign in to Starlink without the passkey?

Starlink documents email and SMS password-reset routes, and says each automatically signs you in after the reset. Its help pages do not promise a particular passkey bypass or password button, so use the documented recovery flow rather than deleting the passkey.

What if I cannot access my Starlink email?

Use phone recovery if the mobile number on the account can receive SMS. If you cannot access both the email and that phone, submit the locked-out recovery form with alternate contact information and complete the email-verification and assistant steps to create a support ticket.

Can a landline receive Starlink’s SMS reset?

No. Starlink’s SMS reset requires a mobile number able to receive text messages. Use email recovery or locked-out recovery when the account lists a landline.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What should I do if a Starlink verification code does not arrive?

Check spam and other filtered email folders, confirm the account email, request a fresh code, and use SMS if the account phone is available. If neither channel works, contact Starlink through another support route.

Is a two-step verification code the same as a passkey?

No. Starlink describes the code as a temporary two-step verification passcode. It is a separate security step and is not documented as a replacement for a passkey.

Can I ask someone who calls to give me my Starlink code?

No. Starlink states that it will never call or text you for the passcode. Do not share a one-time code with anyone claiming to be able to unlock the account.

Why does the recovery page keep looping?

Update the Starlink app, retry in a supported/default browser, temporarily disable a VPN, and check that JavaScript and cookies are enabled. Close duplicate tabs and use only the newest reset link or code.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Where do I contact Starlink if I cannot sign in?

Use the support options shown for your region through the Starlink app or website. If you cannot authenticate, use Starlink’s unauthenticated request route for customers who are locked out; regional channels differ.

The Bottom Line

When your Starlink passkey is unavailable, recover the existing account through the email address on file or the mobile number on file. Starlink says both password-reset routes automatically sign you in, while a landline cannot use SMS. If neither contact method works, submit the locked-out form, verify an alternate email, and complete the assistant flow to open a support ticket. Treat two-step codes as separate from passkeys, never share them, and use Starlink’s regional unauthenticated support route when app or browser troubleshooting does not restore access.
