Put the agent’s name, phone number, and a brief call to action in a persistent graphic layer within the video feed sent to YouTube. Keep the details readable without covering important parts of the property, check them in YouTube Live Control Room’s preview, and include a clickable contact link in the video description if useful. Do not rely on Live Chat for links: YouTube does not allow URLs in Live Chat, and embedded players do not show Live Chat.
Choose the kind of tour you are broadcasting
The contact banner is added to the video feed before it reaches YouTube. The production setup depends on whether that feed comes from a prerecorded tour or a live camera walkthrough.

YouTube’s encoder workflow supports sending a feed from streaming software, but a looping prerecorded tour is a production choice—not a native YouTube loop mode documented in its setup instructions. Design a contact banner that works on screen
Include only the essential details
Use the agent’s authorized display name, direct phone number, and a concise prompt such as “Call or text to arrange a viewing.” Keep the wording short enough to read at a glance. Do not show personal details the agent is not authorized to publish.
Place it without hiding the property
Position the banner in an area that does not cover important room features, signs, or movement through the home. Check it at the final output resolution and on a phone-sized playback view: small text that looks clear on a large production monitor may be hard to read on a mobile screen.
Use your encoder’s overlay controls
Add the graphic as a persistent text or image layer in the production software. YouTube documents encoder overlays generally, but its specific browser-source instructions describe the Take a Break slate—not a general-purpose contact banner. If you choose a browser source, follow the encoder’s instructions for creating and sizing it; do not substitute YouTube’s break-slate overlay URL for a contact graphic. YouTube’s example explains copying its overlay URL, adding a browser source, matching width and height to the stream, and testing the slate: Monetize your live stream.
Set up the YouTube stream and check the result
- Create or schedule the stream: In YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule the broadcast and set its title, privacy, and other stream metadata. YouTube offers public, private, and unlisted privacy settings; choose the one appropriate to the intended audience. Follow Manage live stream settings.
- Connect the encoder: Copy the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the corresponding fields in your streaming software. YouTube says, “Stream keys are like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Treat the key as a credential: do not put it in the on-screen graphic, share it publicly, or expose it in a recording or screenshot.
- Inspect the preview before going live: Confirm that the banner is visible, correctly positioned, and readable; check that it does not conceal property details. Test the moving video and audio as well as the graphic. YouTube recommends checking the preview and testing stream settings and audio/video quality. See YouTube live streaming tips.
- Check stream health during the broadcast: Watch for encoder warnings, interrupted video, audio problems, or a banner that disappears after a scene change. Verify the feed viewers actually receive rather than assuming the production preview matches it.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That platform rule does not turn a prerecorded tour into a native looping broadcast; the repeat behavior still comes from the production setup. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Give viewers a way to follow up
The phone number in the video remains visible to viewers who watch in an embedded player, where Live Chat is unavailable. YouTube also disallows URLs in Live Chat, so put any clickable contact or property link in a permitted destination such as the video description rather than depending on a chat message. Keep the essential phone contact on screen in the feed itself. See Learn about live streams.
Account for property, privacy, and stream restrictions
Before broadcasting, confirm that the agent is authorized to publish the phone number and that filming and advertising the property are permitted for the circumstances. Applicable advertising, licensing, privacy, and consent rules vary by location, brokerage, and whether the home is occupied; there is no single rule established here for every jurisdiction.
