To let someone play music through a Bluetooth speaker already connected to your Galaxy phone, use Music Share. To send them a music file, use Quick Share or another file-sharing method. These features do different jobs, and support and menu names can vary by Galaxy model, region, and software version.
Choose the right way to share music
| Your goal | Use | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Let someone play music through an audio device connected to your Galaxy phone | Music Share | The other person connects to the shared Bluetooth audio device through their compatible Galaxy phone; your phone stays connected to it. |
| Send a locally stored song or recording | Quick Share or another file-sharing option | The recipient receives a copy of the file. Available methods depend on the devices and file. |
| Change where your phone plays audio, or play it through multiple outputs | Media output or Dual audio | You select an output device, or—in supported setups—more than one Bluetooth output. |
Samsung describes Music Share as sharing access to a connected speaker, not transferring a song file. Its older Galaxy S20 guide separately describes Quick Share for images, videos, and files: Samsung’s Music Share instructions and Samsung’s Galaxy S20 sharing-features guide.

Share a connected speaker with Music Share
This is the main Music Share workflow documented in Samsung’s U.S. instructions. Both phones need to support Music Share, and Samsung’s instructions call for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to be enabled on both. You also need an audio device, such as a Bluetooth speaker, paired to the host phone.
- On the host phone, enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Pair the Bluetooth speaker or other audio device with this phone first.
- Turn on Music Share on the host. Open Quick Settings by swiping down from the top of the screen, then tap Music Share. If the tile is not visible, expand or edit Quick Settings; availability and labels can differ by model and software.
- On the guest’s Galaxy phone, enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and turn on Music Share from Quick Settings.
- On the guest phone, open the Bluetooth device scan in Bluetooth settings and select the audio device connected to the host phone.
- Approve the connection if prompted. Once connected, the guest can play music through the shared audio device while the host phone remains connected.
Samsung India also documents a settings route on supported devices: Settings > Connected devices > Music Share. If the tile or setting is absent, your model or software may not support that workflow, or the menu may use a different path. See Samsung India’s Music Share guide alongside the U.S. instructions.

Listen through two pairs of Galaxy Buds
Samsung documents a separate Music Share procedure for sharing audio with a friend’s Galaxy Buds in the 2024 Galaxy Z Flip6 manual. That manual says this Buds workflow supports the Galaxy Buds series; do not assume the exact steps or compatibility apply to every Galaxy model.
- Connect each phone to its own pair of Buds.
- On the friend’s phone, turn on Music Share.
- On the owner’s phone, open Media output, choose Music Share, then select the friend’s Buds.
- Have the friend accept the connection request.
Samsung’s manual explains the feature this way: “Using the Music Share feature, you can share your Bluetooth speaker that is already connected to your phone with another person.” The quoted description and Buds procedure are from Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Z Flip6 user manual, “Music Share”.

Send a music or recording file instead
Music Share does not send a copy of a song or recording. To transfer a locally stored file, choose Quick Share when it is available, or use another supported method such as Bluetooth, messaging, email, Nearby Share, or Wi-Fi Direct. The exact options depend on the phone, software, and file. Samsung’s Korea service guidance for recordings, dated November 15, 2023, cautions that Quick Share and Nearby Share may not be supported on every model: Samsung Electronics Service Korea’s recording-sharing instructions.
Change or extend audio output with Media output
If you only want to choose where your own phone plays sound, use the Media output controls rather than Music Share. Samsung’s U.S. guide covers switching outputs and Dual audio separately. Dual audio is for playing through multiple connected Bluetooth devices; it is not a file transfer or the same connection-sharing workflow as Music Share. Samsung’s Media panel instructions specify Galaxy phones and tablets running Android 10 or later. Check Samsung’s Media and Devices guide for the device-specific controls.

If Music Share does not appear or connect
- Check feature availability. Music Share is limited to compatible Galaxy devices; an absent setting may indicate that your model or software does not offer it.
- Enable both radios on both phones. Samsung’s current procedural instructions call for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the host and guest phones.
- Pair the audio device to the host first. The guest selects the host’s already-connected device from the Bluetooth scan, rather than pairing directly to the speaker as a separate host.
- Look for the request on both phones. The host may need to approve access, and some shared-device workflows require the guest to accept.
- Use the right workflow for the task. For a file, use file sharing; for a listening output, use Media output or the model-specific Music Share procedure.
- Check the device’s own Samsung support page. Settings and support vary by model, region, and software version, so a path documented for one Galaxy phone is not universal.
