For a Galaxy SmartTag2, open SmartThings > Life > Find > More > Share this device’s location, then follow the prompts to invite people. They must accept the invitation in SmartThings while signed in to a Samsung account. Samsung’s exact menu labels can vary by region and app version, so a member invitation in SmartThings Find may be the alternative route.
Share a Galaxy SmartTag2 from SmartThings
- Open the SmartThings app.
- Tap Life, then Find.
- Tap More, then Share this device’s location.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to invite the people who should be able to help locate the tag. Samsung says invited users can help locate it after they complete the invitation. Samsung’s SmartTag2 guide documents this route.
This specific path is documented for SmartTag2; Samsung does not establish that every SmartTag generation has the same controls. Interface labels can also differ among Samsung’s regional guides and app versions. If you do not see the named control, look for the tag’s sharing option in Find or SmartThings Find, or use the member invitation route below.

Invite someone through SmartThings or SmartThings Find
SmartThings membership is granted for a location, not an individual room. In SmartThings, choose the relevant location and open its member-management controls. Samsung documents invitations using the recipient’s Samsung account email or a QR code. The recipient needs SmartThings installed, must be signed into a Samsung account, and must accept the invitation. See Samsung’s SmartThings membership instructions.

The menu may not look identical across versions. Samsung’s SmartThings Find instructions describe this member-based sharing flow.
#1 Best Overall
- Find your things with ease: The SmartThings Find app uses Bluetooth and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to locate and keep track of your stuff

Check the location-sharing requirement
For tracking based on a shared member’s location data, Samsung says that member must also have location sharing enabled. An invitation by itself does not satisfy that requirement. Samsung Find separately requires consent to use location information on the device being located; if that consent is off, it cannot be enabled remotely to locate the device through Samsung Find. These are service-specific conditions, not a guarantee that every SmartTag-sharing flow uses identical settings. SmartThings Find guidance and Samsung Find guidance explain their respective location conditions.
SmartThings Find and Samsung Find are different
Samsung Find is a separate app and service from SmartThings Find, and their sharing models differ: SmartThings Find uses SmartThings members, while Samsung Find sharing is based on Samsung accounts. A SmartTag registered through SmartThings can appear in Samsung Find’s Items tab, but an invitation in one service should not be assumed to configure sharing in the other. Samsung’s UK feature overview also says SmartTags must first be registered with SmartThings to use them directly or share with family members in Samsung Find. It does not support ringing shared family-account devices for SmartTags, so do not rely on remote ringing as part of sharing. Samsung’s Samsung Find overview.

If the other person cannot see the shared tag
Use these checks as a way to revisit Samsung’s stated prerequisites; they are not a universal Samsung troubleshooting checklist.
- Confirm the recipient accepted the invitation and is signed into the Samsung account used to receive it.
- Check that the recipient has SmartThings installed.
- Where tracking depends on a shared member’s location data, check that the member has enabled location sharing.
- Look in the relevant SmartThings or SmartThings Find member and device screens; Samsung Find is a separate service with its own sharing model.
For Samsung Find child accounts, Samsung says sharing changes require parent or guardian authentication or approval. That condition applies to Samsung Find and should not be assumed to describe every SmartThings family-sharing flow. Samsung’s Samsung Find support information.
