To share a Google Maps list, send friends its viewing link; if they should add or edit places, invite them as collaborators instead. Before sending the link, check the list’s sharing options so it isn’t set to Private.
Choose viewing or editing access
Use a view link when friends only need to browse your recommendations or itinerary. Choose an editor or collaborator invitation when they should contribute places or make changes. Google documents these as separate sharing actions, and the exact labels vary by device.

- View link: Friends can open and browse the list; this is the better fit when you want to curate it yourself.
- Collaborator invitation: Friends can add or edit places. Google says viewers may also see the names and profile pictures of people who joined the list, and who added or edited places and notes. Consider that visibility before sharing a sensitive list.
Share a list from a computer
- Open Google Maps and click Menu > Saved.
- Find the list, click More beside it, then choose Send a link to view to share a browsing link.
- To invite editors instead, choose More > Invite to edit > Get a link, then copy and send the link.
To change who can find the list, open More > Sharing options. Google describes Private as “Only you can find your lists” and Shared as “Anyone with your link can find your lists.” To end collaboration, turn off Let others edit your list. Google Maps Help: Share, send or print directions.
Share a list on Android
- Open Google Maps and tap You/Saved, then open the list.
- Tap Share to share the list with friends who only need to view it.
- For contributions, tap Invite collaborators. To manage editing access, open the list’s More > Sharing options > Invite editors.
- To stop editing access, turn off Let others edit this list.
A recipient can open the link and tap Save list to add another person’s list to their own saved lists. Google Maps Help: Share, send or print directions.

Share a list on iPhone or iPad
- Open Google Maps and tap Saved.
- Scroll to Your lists, tap More beside the list, then choose Share list.
- For friends who should contribute, choose Invite collaborators. To manage access, open More > Sharing options > Invite editors.
- Turn off Let others edit your list to stop editing access.
Recipients can open the shared link and tap Save list to keep a copy in their own saved lists. Google Maps Help: Share, send or print directions.
If friends can’t see the shared list
- Open the list’s Sharing options and check that it is not set to Private.
- If it is Private, change its sharing state as appropriate, then resend the list link.
- Ask your friend to open the link again. On desktop, Google says anyone with the link can find a Shared list.
A March 5, 2026 Google Maps Help Community question described a list shared but not visible to family; the accepted reply reported that the list was still Private. That is one reported case, not proof that every missing-list problem has the same cause. Google Maps Help Community: “List shared but not visible with my family”.

Two limits to know
Starred places can’t be shared this way
Google’s desktop Help says, “You can’t share starred places.” To share those places through a list, create a regular list and save them there first. Google Maps Help: Share, send or print directions.
Large lists may not display properly
Google says Saved Lists are limited to 3,000 entries and that lists with more entries may not display properly. The Help page does not state a year for this limit. Google Maps Help: Share, send or print directions.
