YouTube Shopping has two routes: connect a supported store to feature your own products, or join the YouTube Shopping affiliate program to tag eligible products from other brands. The right route depends on what you sell and whether your channel meets the relevant eligibility rules. Once eligible, use YouTube Studio to connect a store or tag products in videos, Shorts, and live streams.
Choose the right YouTube Shopping route

The Shopping tab appears in YouTube Studio only for eligible channels. Check eligibility before troubleshooting a missing tab.

Connect your own store
- Sign in to YouTube Studio on a computer.
- Open Earn, then Shopping.
- If your channel is eligible and no store is connected, select Get Started. To add a different store, select Connect new store.
- Follow the on-screen steps to connect your official merchandise store. If you have not set it up yet, YouTube says to do that first with a supported platform or retailer.
Shopify documents one setup route: use the Google & YouTube app in Shopify, then follow the YouTube Shopping setup flow. Connection does not guarantee acceptance or eligibility. See Shopify’s YouTube Shopping setup instructions.
After connection, eligible products may appear automatically on channel and video surfaces once at least one product qualifies for display. For an individual video or Short, YouTube’s store-management flow lets creators tag and reorder up to 60 items; that is a system limit, not a recommended tag count. Qualify for affiliate product tagging
The affiliate program is for tagging other brands’ products, not a shortcut for turning an ordinary affiliate link into a YouTube product tag. YouTube’s published requirements include:
- Membership in the YouTube Partner Program and meeting its subscriber threshold.
- Residence in a country where the program is available.
- A channel that is not a music channel or Official Artist Channel and does not have a Made for Kids audience or a significant number of Made for Kids videos.
Eligible creators can sign up in YouTube Studio under Earn. The official country list included Argentina, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam when checked on October 3, 2026. Availability can change, so verify the current list and your channel’s status in Studio and on YouTube’s affiliate program eligibility page.

Tag products in a video or Short
- In YouTube Studio, open the video or Short’s details and go to the product-tagging controls. The available choices depend on whether you use your own connected store or the affiliate program.
- Select eligible products from the catalog and add them to the content. YouTube may allow manual tagging or auto-tagging for eligible creators.
- For a Short, arrange the products in the order you want. The product sticker initially features the first item in the tagged list; in the mobile app, you can move and resize the sticker.
- Save your changes, then check the published content on a supported viewing surface.
Tag only products that viewers can identify and that are meaningfully related to the content. YouTube’s guidance says products should be prominent, clearly depicted, used as intended, and mentioned verbally or in text. A real review, demonstration, or relevant integration is a better fit than an obscured or fleeting appearance. YouTube’s wording is: “Products are meaningfully related to your content.” See Tag products in your content.
On long-form videos, viewers see a Shopping button. Shorts use a product sticker, initially featuring the first tagged item. Eligible creators can also tag products during live streams and pin a product to highlight it; viewers can open the Shopping panel to browse the tagged items. The format and availability of these surfaces can vary.

Amazon product tags have extra requirements
YouTube documents Amazon product tagging for creators enrolled in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program in the United States, Brazil, or India. In the United States, creators must also have an active Amazon Influencer Program or Amazon Associates Program account in good standing and link their YouTube channel to it. Eligibility does not mean every Amazon listing can be tagged, and a standard Amazon affiliate link does not automatically become a YouTube product tag. Check YouTube’s Amazon product tagging requirements.
Why a product tag may be unavailable or invisible
A missing tag can be an eligibility issue, a catalog issue, or a viewer-side limitation. YouTube lists these possible causes:

- The content or channel is set to Made for Kids, has a copyright claim, has limited or ineligible monetization, or uses a revenue-sharing Creator Music track.
- The viewer is in a location where the product is not eligible, available, or shippable.
- The product has been removed or is out of stock.
- The viewer is watching in a mobile browser, on a smart TV, or on a game console, where the Shopping display may not be supported.
- A Short uses a non-shopping sound together with a product sticker.
Compare the content and viewer context with YouTube’s tagging and visibility guidance. If you are the creator, also confirm that the product remains eligible in your catalog and that the channel still qualifies for the route you are using.

Viewers typically open a Shopping surface and are redirected to the retailer. The retailer controls product details, stock, shipping, and purchase terms. For affiliate tags, the commission shown while tagging is an estimate based on the current rate; the payout uses the rate in effect on the purchase date, and rates vary by product and brand. Do not treat the displayed estimate as a guaranteed fixed commission. See YouTube’s affiliate commission information.
