On a compatible Galaxy phone in India, open Samsung Wallet, choose UPI in the payment section, create a profile and preferred Virtual Payment Address (VPA), select your bank, verify the account and set a UPI PIN. The mobile number used for setup must match the number registered with that bank account.
Before you start
- Use a Galaxy phone that supports Samsung Wallet and UPI. Availability depends on the device and its software; check the Wallet app or Samsung support for your specific model.
- Have access to the SIM/mobile number registered with the bank account you intend to link. Samsung says the number used during setup must match the bank-registered number.
- Be ready to complete the bank’s verification process. Samsung’s published flow uses debit/ATM card details to generate a UPI PIN. Enter sensitive details only in the official app flow; never share your card details or UPI PIN with another person.
Samsung’s general Wallet setup instructions also describe signing in to a Samsung account, accepting the terms, choosing an authentication method and creating a Wallet PIN. Those are general Wallet steps, not a guarantee of the exact screens in the current UPI setup.

Set up UPI in Samsung Wallet
- Open Samsung Wallet. Complete any Samsung account sign-in, terms, authentication or Wallet security prompts shown on your phone.
- Open the payment area and choose UPI. Samsung’s UPI guide calls the app Samsung Pay and describes selecting UPI, then tapping Next. The current Wallet wording or location may differ.
- Create your UPI profile. Follow the prompts to create a profile and choose your preferred VPA (Virtual Payment Address), the address used to identify your UPI account for payments.
- Select your bank. Choose the bank that holds the account you want to link. Make sure the phone’s active mobile number is the same one registered with that account.
- Verify the bank account and set your UPI PIN. Select the account marked as awaiting verification, start PIN generation and complete the bank verification prompt. Samsung’s guide describes entering debit/ATM card details for verification, then setting the UPI PIN in the app. The bank handles account verification; do not disclose the PIN to anyone.
Samsung announced that UPI onboarding is included during new Galaxy device setup in India. If you skipped that step, look for UPI in Wallet’s payment section and follow the prompts there; the precise menus may vary by device and software version.

Add another bank account
Samsung’s guide says you can add another account to a VPA through the bank-account management option, labeled “Add/Link/Manage Bank Account” in that guide. Open the equivalent option shown in your app, select the additional bank account and complete its verification prompts. Labels can change between app versions.

Use UPI after setup
Samsung’s India materials describe using UPI to send or request money, pay online using a VPA, and pay by scanning a UPI QR code. For a QR payment, scan the code, enter the amount and authorize the transaction with your UPI PIN. Check the recipient and amount before confirming.
If setup does not work
- Your account is not found: Check that you selected the correct bank and that the mobile number used by the phone matches the number registered to the bank account. If it still does not appear, ask your bank whether the account can be used for UPI.
- You cannot find UPI or Samsung Wallet: Confirm Samsung Wallet and UPI availability for your exact Galaxy model and current software with Samsung support. The available official information does not establish a complete current model-and-bank compatibility list.
- The screens do not match these steps: Follow the labels and prompts in the installed app. Samsung’s detailed guide uses older Samsung Pay terminology, so current wording may differ.
- PIN generation fails: Check the bank’s verification instructions and use the debit/ATM card details requested in the official flow. Contact the bank if it rejects verification; do not send your PIN or card details to someone offering help.
Device and bank availability
Samsung Wallet support and UPI availability are not universal across every Galaxy phone, software version or bank account. Verify eligibility for your specific phone and bank before relying on the feature. A compatible phone is the only device requirement established here; no separate accessory is needed to set up UPI.
