To enable Twitch Integration, join your 7 Days to Die server with administrator permission, open Options > Twitch, select LOGIN TWITCH, and authorize the connection in the browser window. Then install and activate the 7 Days to Die extension in Twitch Creator Dashboard if viewers need to interact from your channel page. On a dedicated or rented server, configure the Twitch permission and Blood Moon settings while the server is stopped, restart it, and test from the in-game Twitch menu.

What Twitch Integration does
Twitch Integration is built into 7 Days to Die; it is not a separate server mod. It connects Twitch chat with the game so viewers can influence an active session. Depending on the action and the current action stage, chat can vote on major events, apply helpful or harmful buffs, spawn zombies, or trigger larger hordes. Viewers also earn points for helping the streamer or for causing the streamer’s death. The streamer controls how much actions cost, how strongly they affect the game, and whether voting is enabled.

Some actions become available only as the action stage rises. Integration also pauses or suppresses actions in several protected situations: land-claim areas, trader areas, active quest areas, and any other conditions shown in the Twitch Status Window. Blood Moon behavior is controlled separately on the server.
Requirements before you begin
- A Twitch account: The account used for authorization must be registered with Twitch.
- Server permission: The host must have the required administrator or server permission. Join the game as an administrator before opening the Twitch menu.
- Access to the server configuration: This is needed for settings such as
TwitchServerPermissionandTwitchBloodMoonAllowed. On a rented server, the provider’s control panel must expose configuration files or equivalent settings. - The correct game build: The client, dedicated server, and any control-panel configuration must support the same current build of 7 Days to Die.
- A live Twitch channel and extension (for viewer-facing controls): The game can authenticate without the extension, but viewers will not get the channel-page integration until the extension is installed, activated, and assigned to an overlay slot.
Have the game running, your Twitch credentials available, and a way to restart the server before making configuration changes.

Authorize Twitch in the game
- Join as an administrator. Connect to the server with the account that has the required server permission. If you are using a hosted server, grant that permission in the provider’s panel first.
- Open the Twitch menu. Press
Esc, choose Options, and open the Twitch category. Some game builds label this simply as the Twitch section inside Options. - Start authorization. Select LOGIN TWITCH. The game opens a browser window for Twitch sign-in and authorization.
- Approve the connection. Sign in to the Twitch account that owns the channel and approve the requested connection. Finish the browser flow, then return to the game.
- Confirm the account. Reopen the Twitch submenu and verify that the Twitch username is shown as connected. If the username is not displayed, the authorization did not persist and you should repeat the login rather than configuring actions.
- Check the active indicator. When integration is active, a lightning-bolt indicator appears beside players. Use the Twitch menu to set action strength, action costs, votes, and the other session controls before inviting viewers to participate.
Authorization is tied to the Twitch account you approve. If a different streamer will run the server, log out through the Twitch submenu and authorize that streamer’s account instead of sharing credentials.
Make the integration visible to viewers
Authentication connects the game to Twitch, but it does not automatically place controls on your channel page. Complete these steps in Twitch Creator Dashboard:

- Open Creator Dashboard > Extensions.
- Search for 7 Days to Die.
- Install the integration extension.
- Click Activate.
- Assign the extension to an Overlay slot.
- Go live and verify the overlay from the channel page or a separate viewer account.
The extension is not displayed to viewers while it is merely installed. It must be active, assigned to an overlay, and used while the channel is live. If the game shows a message such as Twitch Extension Needed, return to these dashboard steps before changing server files.
Configure a dedicated or rented server
Hosted servers and self-hosted dedicated servers use the same in-game authorization, but the server-side permission determines whether the account is allowed to use integration. Always stop the server before editing its configuration. Editing a live file can be overwritten on shutdown or ignored until the next start.

Set the Twitch permission
- Stop the server from its control panel or service manager.
- Grant the streamer or administrator account the required server permission.
- Locate the server configuration and set
TwitchServerPermissionto the permission level that should be allowed to use Twitch Integration. - Save the configuration, start the server, and join with the authorized account.
- Complete the in-game login under Options > Twitch, then confirm the connected username.
The exact numeric or textual value accepted for TwitchServerPermission depends on the server configuration format. Use the value and syntax already shown by your control panel or the server’s current configuration; do not paste a value intended for a different build.
Decide whether Twitch actions can run during Blood Moon
TwitchBloodMoonAllowed controls whether Twitch actions are permitted during Blood Moon. Enabling it deliberately can add extra spawns and effects while the game is already under heavy load. If the server has limited CPU, memory, or bandwidth, leave the setting disabled until you have tested a normal night and a Blood Moon separately.
- With the server stopped, open the configuration file containing
TwitchBloodMoonAllowed. - Set the value according to your intended Blood Moon policy.
- Save the file, restart the server, and check the Twitch Status Window during the next Blood Moon or test event.
Use a hosting control panel safely
Managed hosts commonly place these options under Configuration Files. The safe workflow is: stop, edit, save, restart, and then test. If the panel offers automatic backups, create one before changing permissions or event behavior. If a change appears to have no effect, verify that you edited the active instance rather than a template or an old save, and confirm that the restart completed successfully.

The official configuration supports deeper changes through two files:

Stop the server before editing either file, preserve the existing XML structure, save the file in the provider panel or server directory, and restart before testing. Make one logical change at a time so you can identify which edit caused a problem. Keep a backup of the original file; malformed XML can prevent settings from loading even when the game itself starts.
Choose sensible action settings for a first stream
The Twitch menu lets the streamer control action strength, costs, and voting. Start conservatively and increase influence after you observe how quickly chat can generate events. The progression system is intentional: new players see fewer disruptive options, while later action stages expose more possibilities.

- Use costs to pace chat. Higher costs slow repeated actions; lower costs create a chaotic party mode.
- Use votes for major events. Votes let the audience choose an outcome instead of allowing one viewer to trigger every event.
- Review the Actions tab. Some entries under Extras require manual enabling before viewers can use them.
- Watch the Twitch Status Window. It shows whether the current location, quest, event, or server rule is suppressing an action.
- Test with a small audience. Run a private or low-viewer session first, especially if Blood Moon actions are enabled.
Why viewers may see no actions
Protected locations and activities
Actions and votes can pause in land-claim areas, trader areas, and active quest areas. Move outside the protected area, finish or abandon the active quest, and check the status window again. This is expected protection, not necessarily a broken connection.
Blood Moon restrictions
Blood Moon can suppress Twitch actions unless the server setting permits them. Check TwitchBloodMoonAllowed and verify that the server was restarted after changing it. Even when allowed, a heavily loaded server may process events slowly.

Action-stage progression
Commands are not all available at the beginning of a session. As the action stage rises, additional commands unlock. Compare the stage shown in the Twitch menu with the action you are trying to use before changing configuration.
Extras that were never enabled
Some commands in Extras need to be enabled manually in the Actions tab. Open that tab as the authorized streamer and enable only the actions you want the channel to use.

If chat can authenticate but the channel page says an extension is needed, install and activate the 7 Days to Die extension in Creator Dashboard and assign it to an Overlay slot. The channel must be live for viewers to see it.

The login window completes, but the account is not connected
Log out and back in through the game’s Twitch submenu. After the browser authorization, return to the game and look for the Twitch username; do not rely only on the browser’s success page. If the username still does not appear, restart the game and repeat authorization with the Twitch account that owns the live channel.
The connection drops or will not start
Security software can interfere with the browser-to-game authorization or the integration’s network traffic. As a diagnostic step, temporarily disable active scanning only long enough to test whether the connection succeeds. If that identifies the cause, re-enable protection and add the 7 Days to Die client folder as a permanent exclusion. Do not leave antivirus protection disabled.
The server accepts the login but ignores settings
Stop the server, confirm that you edited the active configuration, save the file, and perform a full restart. Check the account’s server permission and verify that the setting name is exactly TwitchServerPermission or TwitchBloodMoonAllowed, including capitalization. A setting changed in a cached template or while the server was running will not reliably apply.

Confirm that the Twitch username is visible in the Twitch submenu, then reconnect the player to the server. If the indicator is still absent, check the server permission and the Twitch Status Window before changing XML files.
Self-hosting versus managed hosting
Both approaches can run Twitch Integration. The important difference is how easily you can reach the files and restart the process safely.

Choose self-hosting when you need unrestricted file access and can maintain backups and restarts. Choose managed hosting when a reliable control panel and support matter more than low-level access, but confirm the required Twitch settings before paying for a plan.
Pre-stream verification checklist
- Join the correct server with administrator permission.
- Open Options > Twitch and verify the connected Twitch username.
- Confirm the lightning-bolt indicator appears beside connected players.
- Install, activate, and assign the 7 Days to Die Twitch extension to an Overlay slot.
- Start the channel live before expecting viewers to see the extension.
- Review action costs, vote settings, action strength, and manually enabled Extras.
- Check the Twitch Status Window outside a trader, land-claim, or active quest area.
- Confirm the intended
TwitchBloodMoonAllowedpolicy. - If you edited configuration or XML, verify that the server was stopped, the file was saved, and the server was restarted.
- Run one low-impact test action before announcing the feature to viewers.
Once authorization, the channel extension, and server permissions all agree, viewers can use the available actions shown by the current action stage and your session settings. Protected areas, quests, Blood Moon rules, and manually disabled commands remain intentional limits rather than connection errors.
