Set up the Razer Tartarus V2 Pro in Razer Synapse 4 by assigning each control to an action you actually use, then save and test the layout in the game or app. Keep separate keymaps or profiles for tasks with different controls; treat macros and advanced gaming features as optional, not required setup steps.
Confirm the model and open Synapse
This guide is for the Razer Tartarus V2 Pro, model RZ07-0552, not the separately documented Tartarus V2. Razer recommends the latest Synapse app for customizing the Pro. Connect the keypad, open Synapse, and select the Tartarus V2 Pro from the device list.

Razer describes the keypad as having 31 programmable controls, three dedicated buttons, and a TMR thumbstick. Its product page also lists a Hypershift button, keymap-cycle button, profile-cycle button, and an adjustable wrist rest. These are vendor-stated specifications, not independent performance findings. See Razer’s Tartarus V2 Pro product page or Razer’s support page for model RZ07-0552 to confirm the device.

- Open the device’s customization controls: in Synapse, select the Tartarus V2 Pro and open its customization view.
- Select a physical control: choose the key or button you want to change.
- Choose its action: assign a keyboard key, shortcut, or another action offered by Synapse that the intended game or app supports.
- Repeat for the controls you need: start with the actions you use most, rather than trying to fill every control.
- Save and test: Razer says mappings on the product page save automatically. Verify each binding in the target application and revise anything awkward or conflicting.
Razer’s general remapping instructions use the same basic sequence: select the device, select a control, choose a function, and save. Available options can depend on the device and software. Read Razer’s key and button remapping instructions.

Organize gaming and productivity layouts
Use a separate layout when moving between tasks would otherwise require repeatedly changing bindings. For example, a game layout might put frequently used in-game actions near the thumb and main keys, while a productivity layout could put common application shortcuts and navigation commands on controls that are easy for you to reach. These are starting points, not universal layouts: choose bindings based on the software, your hand position, and your preferences.
Razer advertises 24 configurable keymaps across three profiles, with up to eight layouts per profile. You can assign layouts to profiles and use a custom toggle assignment to switch them. Start with one straightforward layout, then add task-specific variants only when you have a reason to switch. Test the profile or keymap switching controls so you know how to return to the intended layout.

| Configuration choice | Useful when | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| One keymap | Your control needs are similar across tasks. | Simplest to learn and maintain; check that bindings do not conflict between apps. |
| Multiple keymaps in a profile | You need several layouts for related tasks or games. | Assign and test a switching method so you can identify the active layout. |
| Separate profiles | You want broader task-specific configurations, such as gaming and work. | Use clear names and test profile cycling before relying on it. |

Actuation and Rapid Trigger
Razer lists adjustable actuation from 0.1–4.0 mm and Rapid Trigger controls in Synapse. The default profile is described in Razer support material as using 2.0 mm actuation with Rapid Trigger off. To experiment, open the keypad’s Actuation controls in Synapse and change settings gradually, then check how the controls behave in the specific game. These are adjustable options, not required setup steps or a guaranteed performance improvement.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesSnap Tap
Snap Tap is off by default. Razer says it can be enabled or disabled in Synapse or with Fn + Left Shift; the default key pair is A and D, and up to four pairs can be configured. Before enabling an input-priority feature, check the current rules for the game and any competition you enter: acceptability can vary, and the device documentation does not establish that it is allowed everywhere.

Add macros for repeatable, permitted actions
A macro can combine commands into a repeatable sequence. Use one only when it is useful for a workflow and the relevant application or game rules allow it. Razer’s general Synapse process is to create or select a macro, assign it to a control, choose its playback behavior, and save. The available options and whether a macro is appropriate depend on the use case. Follow Razer’s macro assignment instructions.
