Hold it in your usual position and check whether the thumb rest feels natural and whether you can reach the controls you plan to use without straining or shifting your grip.

Razer lists 14 customizable controls, but that does not mean every button needs an assignment. A practical setup puts frequent actions on controls you can reach comfortably; leave less-used controls at their defaults or assign them to a secondary layer.
Configure buttons in Razer Synapse
Razer Synapse is the configuration hub for button mappings, macros, Hypershift functions, DPI settings, scroll modes, and Chroma RGB lighting. The product information does not establish a single ideal mapping, so build one around the commands you actually use.

- Install and open Razer Synapse, then select the Basilisk V4 Pro.
- Open the mouse’s button customization controls and assign your most-used actions to buttons you can reach comfortably. For games, consider commands you use often; for everyday work, consider actions such as navigation or other shortcuts you routinely use.
- Try the assignments in the game or application where you intend to use them. Change any mapping that is awkward to reach, easy to trigger by mistake, or less useful than its default.
- If you need more commands, configure Hypershift as a secondary layer. Keep the primary layer for your most frequent actions and use the alternate layer for commands you need less often.
- Set Chroma RGB lighting only if you want to customize it; lighting is separate from the controls and tracking adjustments.
This is a practical way to organize the controls, not a manufacturer-tested profile. The mouse also includes a multi-function trigger and Perfect 180. Razer describes Perfect 180 as a customizable instant 180-degree turn intended for low-sensitivity FPS play; its behavior depends on in-game sensitivity and the Synapse total-count setting. Treat it as optional: test it in a suitable game and keep it only if its behavior works for you.
Choose a scroll mode for the way you scroll
The HyperScroll Tilt Wheel Gen-2 offers stepped tactile scrolling, continuous free-spin, and Smart-Reel, which can switch automatically between tactile and free-spin according to scroll speed. Choose based on whether you value controlled steps or moving through long pages quickly.

Set sensitivity for your own games and applications
Razer lists a Focus Pro 50K Optical Sensor Gen-3 with up to 50,000 DPI and 1-DPI adjustment steps. That maximum describes the sensor’s listed capability, not a recommended target. DPI preference depends on you and on the sensitivity settings in the game or application you use; the product information does not establish a best value or a tested profile by grip type.

Use Synapse to adjust DPI in small, deliberate increments and check the result in the application you care about. If pointer movement feels too fast or too slow, change the setting and try it again rather than treating the maximum as a goal. The product also lists Dynamic Sensitivity, Sensitivity Matcher, Smart Tracking, Rotation Tool, and Asymmetric Cut-off. These provide further adjustment options; the product description does not establish that every user needs to enable them.
Pick a connection and decide whether you need wireless charging
Razer lists HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2, Bluetooth 6.2 with up to three paired devices, and wired mode. The product page describes up to five-device connectivity across these modes. Choose the connection that suits the device you are using and whether you need to switch among devices; the listed options do not establish an independent latency advantage for a particular setup.

Wireless charging is optional. Razer says it requires a separately purchased Razer Mouse Dock V2 Pro with puck or Razer HyperFlux V2; its product FAQ describes replacing the mouse’s cover puck and placing the mouse on the charging system. The mouse does not require either accessory for ordinary wired or wireless use. Check regional availability and exact compatibility before buying a charging accessory.

What the listed specifications do—and do not—tell you
Razer’s product page lists up to 200 hours of battery life under its standard test conditions. It also describes the optical mouse switches as rated for more than 100 million clicks. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of what every user will experience.
