Set up the Garmin CIRQA Smart Band by connecting its module to USB power, installing and opening Garmin Connect, and following the app’s pairing instructions while your phone stays within 10 m (33 ft.) of the band. A flashing purple LED indicates that CIRQA is in pairing mode. Once pairing finishes, Garmin’s first-use flow includes charging the device, checking for software updates, and starting an activity.
What you need before pairing
CIRQA is a screenless tracker. The phone and Garmin Connect app provide the interface for connected features and for viewing health and activity data, so the app is part of the setup rather than an optional extra.

For a first-time setup, the USB connection is the normal way to activate that state. If the band has been paired before, you can manually place it back into pairing mode with its button; the exact recovery procedure is covered below.
First-time setup in Garmin Connect
-
Connect the module to USB power
Attach the cable’s module end to CIRQA’s charging port. Plug the other end into a USB charging port. Watch for the LED to flash purple. That light is the documented indication that the band is ready to pair.
-
Install and open Garmin Connect
Use your phone’s app store to install Garmin Connect, then open it. Keep the app open while you work through the setup. Garmin directs CIRQA pairing through Garmin Connect so the app can associate the device with your account and provide its connected functions.

Keep the phone close to the band
Maintain the required distance of no more than 10 m (33 ft.) while the app searches and completes the connection. Avoid moving the phone away or interrupting USB power during this stage.
-
Follow the on-screen pairing instructions
Use Garmin Connect’s on-screen instructions to select and pair CIRQA. Do not treat a successful appearance in the phone’s generic Bluetooth list as the complete setup: Garmin states that CIRQA must be paired with Garmin Connect to use connected features and view health and activity data.
-
Complete the first-use flow
After Garmin Connect reports that pairing is complete, continue through the remaining setup screens. Garmin’s getting-started sequence includes charging the device, checking for software updates in Garmin Connect, and starting an activity.
What to do after the initial connection
Charge before relying on the tracker
Leave CIRQA connected to USB power long enough to complete the charging step in Garmin’s getting-started sequence. The setup instructions establish charging as an early first-use task, but they do not specify a universal charging time in the owner’s manual information available here.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Check for software updates
Use Garmin Connect to check whether device software is available for CIRQA. Garmin recommends keeping the software current because updates can bring changes and improvements to privacy, security, and features. Let the app finish an update before disconnecting the module or attempting another setup change.
Start an activity
Garmin’s first-use sequence ends with starting an activity. This gives you an immediate way to confirm that the tracker is ready for normal use and that the activity workflow is available through Garmin Connect, even though the band itself does not have a display.
Pairing CIRQA when it was connected before
A previously paired band can remain associated with the phone’s Bluetooth settings even when Garmin Connect is no longer completing the connection. Remove that old association before manually entering pairing mode.
-
Remove CIRQA from the phone’s Bluetooth settings
Open the phone’s Bluetooth settings, find the existing CIRQA entry, and remove or forget it. This step applies when the band has already been paired; it is not necessary as a first step for a brand-new device.

Reactivate pairing mode on the band
Use either of Garmin’s documented button methods: press the device button quickly three times, or hold the button for approximately six seconds. Stop when the LED flashes purple.
-
Return to Garmin Connect
With the purple light flashing, open Garmin Connect and continue through its pairing instructions. Garmin says pairing mode remains active until pairing completes. If it times out or you leave the process, press the button to reactivate it and try again.
Troubleshoot a failed pairing
Garmin’s CIRQA support material points to general Garmin pairing-failure guidance. The following recovery order reflects that guidance and the CIRQA-specific pairing requirements; it is a troubleshooting process, not a guarantee that every fault has the same cause.
| What you see | What to check or do |
|---|---|
| No purple flashing LED | Confirm that the cable’s module end is fully connected to CIRQA and that the other end is plugged into a USB charging port. If the band was paired before, use the three-press or approximately six-second button method to re-enter pairing mode. |
| Garmin Connect cannot find the band | Keep the phone within 10 m (33 ft.), close and reopen the pairing flow, and make sure the purple LED is still flashing. If necessary, restart both the phone and the Garmin device. |
| The phone sees an old CIRQA entry | Remove CIRQA from the phone’s Bluetooth settings before manually re-entering pairing mode, then retry the connection from Garmin Connect. |
| The process stops partway through | Press the device button to reactivate pairing mode, then resume in Garmin Connect. Pairing mode is intended to remain active until the connection completes, but it can be reactivated if needed. |
| Bluetooth appears connected, but Garmin Connect has no device data | Complete the pairing inside Garmin Connect. Garmin requires that app pairing for connected features and for viewing health and activity data; a system-level Bluetooth entry by itself is not the full CIRQA setup. |
| Repeated attempts still fail | Restart the phone and the Garmin device, switch the phone’s Bluetooth off and back on, and try pairing again. These are Garmin’s general recommended recovery steps for a failed pairing attempt. |
A reliable retry sequence
If you are unsure which fix applies, use this order rather than changing several settings at once:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Disconnect and reconnect CIRQA to USB power, then look for the purple flashing LED.
- Keep the phone within 10 m (33 ft.) and open Garmin Connect.
- If CIRQA was previously paired, remove its old entry from the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
- Restart the phone and the Garmin device.
- Toggle the phone’s Bluetooth off and on.
- Place CIRQA back into pairing mode with three quick button presses or an approximately six-second button hold.
- Return to Garmin Connect and complete its on-screen instructions without moving the phone away or interrupting power.
This sequence separates power, distance, stale Bluetooth records, and software state—the four conditions most directly addressed by Garmin’s setup and troubleshooting instructions.
Common setup mistakes to avoid
Starting in the wrong place
Garmin’s procedure is app-led. Use the phone’s Bluetooth settings to remove an old pairing when necessary, but complete the actual CIRQA setup in Garmin Connect. The app is what enables the connected features and data view described for the band.
Assuming the LED is a battery indicator
During setup, the flashing purple LED has a specific meaning: active pairing mode. If it is not flashing, concentrate first on USB power and the button procedure for a previously paired device instead of waiting for the app to discover it.
Moving the phone too far away
Pairing is a short-range setup operation. Keep the phone within Garmin’s stated 10 m (33 ft.) limit until Garmin Connect confirms completion.
Skipping post-pairing maintenance
Pairing is not the end of Garmin’s getting-started sequence. Charge CIRQA, check Garmin Connect for software updates, and start an activity before treating the setup as finished.
What the screenless design means in daily use
CIRQA does not provide a screen for selecting settings or reading activity details. Garmin Connect is therefore the place to view health and activity data and to use connected features after pairing. The initial connection establishes that app relationship; keeping the app and device software current supports Garmin’s stated privacy, security, and feature improvements.
You do not need to purchase a separate service to make the basic Garmin Connect connection. Garmin Connect+ is an optional layer, not a prerequisite for pairing the band or accessing the standard connected experience.
Official help if you need a visual walkthrough
Garmin’s CIRQA support page provides links to the CIRQA owner’s manual and an official setup video. The video covers connecting to Garmin Connect, finishing setup, setting preferences, and basic activity tracking. The owner’s manual is identified as version 1, dated July 2026, and contains the pairing instructions and the button sequence for returning a previously paired band to pairing mode.
