Connect the HS80’s wireless USB transmitter, let Windows install its driver, and configure the headset in iCUE for PC use. On PS5, plug the same transmitter into any working USB port and set Output to Headphones to All Audio. If the console identifies the receiver as a keyboard, switch the receiver to PlayStation mode in iCUE on a Windows PC, then move it back to the PS5.
The HS80 also works as a wired USB headset on PC. Wired mode is the option to use when you want Corsair’s stated maximum of 24-bit/96 kHz audio; wireless mode is simpler for everyday gaming but its practical range depends on walls, electronics and other wireless devices.

What you need before starting
Have the HS80 headset, its wireless USB transmitter and the included USB cable ready. For wireless PC setup, use a Windows 10 or later computer with a working USB port and an internet connection for downloading iCUE. For PS5 setup, use any working USB port on the console. The transmitter is the part that establishes the wireless link; plugging only the headset into a console will not create a wireless connection.
- Windows PC: supports wireless transmitter mode, wired USB mode and iCUE configuration.
- PlayStation 5: supports wireless transmitter mode after the receiver is set to PlayStation mode.
- USB cable: provides the PC wired mode used for the highest stated audio resolution and for firmware updates.

“Up to” figures are manufacturer limits, not a promise of the same result in every room or on every battery cycle. Wireless range is especially sensitive to the position of the transmitter and physical obstructions.

Set up the HS80 wirelessly on a Windows PC
1. Connect the wireless transmitter
- Insert the included wireless USB transmitter into a working USB port on the PC. A direct port on the computer is preferable to a port that is not supplying power reliably.
- Leave the headset switched on while Windows detects the transmitter and headset. On first use, Windows automatically installs the device driver.
- After Windows finishes loading the driver, restart the PC. Corsair recommends the reboot so the driver and audio endpoints initialize cleanly.
If Windows does not detect the hardware, remove the transmitter, try another working USB port, wait for the operating system to react, and restart the computer after the driver installation attempt. Do not move on to iCUE until the transmitter is physically connected and recognized.
2. Install and open iCUE
- Download and install iCUE on a Windows 10 or later PC.
- Launch iCUE after installation and allow it to detect the HS80 and its receiver.
- Select the headset or receiver in iCUE when you need to change lighting, equalizer or microphone settings.
iCUE is the Windows configuration tool. It is also the environment used to put the receiver in PlayStation mode and to perform firmware updates, so keeping it installed on the PC is useful even if the headset is normally used with a PS5.
3. Select the PC audio endpoint
Once the transmitter is connected, choose the HS80 as the output and microphone device in the Windows sound controls or in the game’s audio menu. If a game continues using the PC’s speakers, close and reopen the game after selecting the headset. Use the headset and Windows controls together to reach a comfortable listening level.
Use the HS80 in wired USB mode on PC
- Power off the headset.
- Connect the headset to the PC with the included USB cable.
- Wait for Windows and iCUE to recognize the USB connection.
- Select the HS80 as the Windows output and microphone device if Windows does not switch automatically.
Corsair’s guide specifies up to 24-bit/96 kHz audio in this USB mode and describes a wired USB connection as the way to obtain the highest-quality audio reproduction on PC. USB mode also avoids wireless interference because audio travels through the cable rather than the transmitter.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Use wired mode when you are sitting at the PC and want the maximum stated resolution, when radio interference is affecting the wireless link, or when you need the headset in USB mode for a firmware update. Use wireless mode when cable-free movement matters more than the stated resolution ceiling.
Configure sound, lighting and microphone controls in iCUE
RGB lighting
Select the HS80 in iCUE and open its lighting controls to choose RGB colors and brightness. Save the profile after making changes so the headset uses the intended lighting configuration when iCUE is running.
Equalizer profiles
Use the EQ controls to select or adjust a profile for games, music or voice. EQ changes affect the PC configuration in iCUE; they are not made from the PS5 system menus.
Microphone input and sidetone
iCUE exposes microphone input volume and microphone sidetone controls. Input volume changes how strongly your voice is sent to chat; sidetone controls how much of your own voice is fed back to you in the headset. Make a small adjustment, speak at a normal level and check the result in the application you use for voice chat.

Firmware updates
Firmware updating has a specific connection requirement. The headset must be powered off and connected to the PC in USB mode. With that connection in place, open iCUE, select the HS80 device and use the firmware-update control shown by the application. Keep the cable connected until iCUE reports that the update has finished.
If the update option is unavailable, first check the two conditions Corsair specifies: the headset is powered off and the USB cable is connected to the PC. A wireless-only connection is not the required update state.
Connect the HS80 to a PlayStation 5
1. Plug in the transmitter
- Insert the wireless USB transmitter into any working USB port on the PS5.
- Turn on the HS80 and wait for the wireless link to establish.
- Open the PS5 sound settings and locate the headphone output option.
- Set Output to Headphones to All Audio.
The All Audio setting routes game, system and other PS5 audio to the HS80 instead of limiting the headset to a narrower chat or output path. Adjust listening level with the PS5 volume controls and the headset controls.

2. Check the result in a game
Start a game or another audio source and confirm that sound is coming through both earcups. Test the microphone in the game’s voice-chat settings. If the console does not produce game sound, return to the PS5 sound menu and verify that Output to Headphones still reads All Audio; this is the key routing setting in Corsair’s PS5 instructions.

Corsair describes the out-of-box PS5 experience as plug and play when the receiver is configured correctly. You do not install iCUE on the PS5 itself; use the Windows PC application for headset configuration and receiver mode changes.
Fix the PS5 showing the HS80 receiver as a keyboard
A receiver identified as a keyboard is usually in the wrong device mode for the console. Correct the mode on a Windows PC, then reconnect the receiver to the PS5.
- Disconnect the wireless receiver from the PS5 and connect it to a Windows PC.
- Launch iCUE.
- Select HS80 WIRELESS RECEIVER in the device list.
- Open Connections.
- Select PlayStation and verify that the receiver is set to that mode.
- Disconnect the receiver from the PC.
- Plug the receiver back into the PS5 and wait for the console to enumerate it again.
After this change, return to the PS5 sound settings and set Output to Headphones to All Audio. If the keyboard identification returns, repeat the mode check in iCUE before trying other changes; the receiver must be in PlayStation mode for the console connection.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWireless range, interference and placement
Corsair rates the transmitter for up to 60 ft (18 m). The quick-start guide specifically warns that other wireless devices, electronics and obstructions such as walls can reduce that range. Treat 60 ft as an unobstructed maximum rather than a guaranteed distance through several rooms.

- On-the-Go Convenience: With an integrated handle and lightweight design (2.14 lbs), our lap desk is portable for travel or moving around the house, offering flexibility in any space.
- Keep the transmitter in a USB port with a clear path toward your normal listening position.
- Reduce the number of walls and large electronic obstructions between the transmitter and headset.
- If audio cuts out when you move away from the PC or PS5, move closer first. A shorter distance helps determine whether range or another setting is responsible.
- For the most consistent PC connection and the highest stated audio resolution, switch to USB mode with the headset powered off.
Wireless and wired operation have different trade-offs:
| Connection | Convenience | Maximum stated PC audio resolution | Interference exposure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wireless USB transmitter | Cable-free movement on PC or PS5 | Not stated by Corsair in the cited setup guide | Can be affected by walls, electronics and other wireless devices |
| USB cable | Requires a cable between headset and PC | Up to 24-bit/96 kHz | Audio does not use the wireless link |
Use SLIPSTREAM Multipoint when you need two compatible connections
Corsair lists the HS80 Wireless among headsets compatible with SLIPSTREAM Multipoint. Pairing is performed in iCUE from the receiver’s Connections view, and the headset must be in USB mode during the pairing process.
- Connect the receiver and headset to a Windows PC.
- Put the headset in USB mode by powering it off and connecting the USB cable.
- Open iCUE and select the receiver.
- Open Connections and follow the Multipoint pairing controls shown there.
- Leave the headset in USB mode for the pairing operation, then return it to the connection mode you intend to use.
The exact devices available for the second connection depend on the Multipoint-compatible equipment you are pairing. If the pairing controls do not appear, verify that iCUE sees the receiver and that the headset is powered off and connected by USB.
PC and PS5 feature differences
| Function | Windows PC | PlayStation 5 |
|---|---|---|
| Wireless connection | Wireless USB transmitter | Wireless USB transmitter in PlayStation mode |
| iCUE | Install iCUE on Windows 10 or later for device configuration | Configuration is performed on a Windows PC; iCUE is not installed on the console |
| PlayStation mode | Selected in iCUE under HS80 WIRELESS RECEIVER > Connections | Required for correct receiver recognition |
| Audio routing | Select the HS80 as the Windows or game output | Set Output to Headphones to All Audio |
| RGB, EQ and microphone controls | RGB color and brightness, EQ profiles, microphone input volume and sidetone are configured in iCUE | Use the console and headset controls for listening level; make advanced configuration changes on a Windows PC |
| Firmware update | Headset powered off and connected by USB, then updated through iCUE | Move the headset to a Windows PC for the update |
Practical troubleshooting checklist
Windows does not detect the transmitter
- Confirm that the transmitter is plugged into a working USB port.
- Wait for Windows to install the device driver on first use.
- Restart the PC after the driver loads, following Corsair’s recommendation.
- Open iCUE only after Windows has had time to enumerate the device.
The PS5 has no game audio
- Open the PS5 sound settings.
- Set Output to Headphones to All Audio.
- Adjust volume with both the PS5 controls and the headset controls.
The PS5 calls the receiver a keyboard
Use the dedicated mode procedure: connect the receiver to a Windows PC, open iCUE, choose HS80 WIRELESS RECEIVER, open Connections, select PlayStation, verify the setting, then reconnect the receiver to the PS5.
Firmware updating is unavailable
Power off the headset and connect it to the PC with the USB cable. iCUE requires this USB mode for firmware updating; a wireless-only connection does not meet the stated requirement.
Wireless audio drops at distance
Move closer to the transmitter and reduce walls, electronics and nearby wireless devices between the headset and receiver. The stated 60 ft (18 m) range can be lower in a room with obstructions or interference.
Which connection should you use?
Choose wireless mode for normal PC or PS5 gaming when freedom from a cable is the priority. Choose wired USB mode on PC when you want Corsair’s stated up-to-24-bit/96 kHz audio, when wireless interference is noticeable, or when updating firmware. For PS5, use the transmitter in PlayStation mode and set the console’s headphone output to All Audio; advanced RGB, EQ, microphone and receiver settings remain Windows-and-iCUE tasks.
