In YouTube Studio, go to Earn > Supers > Get started, complete the setup and turn on Super Chat. Then make sure live chat is enabled on the stream; channel-level activation alone does not make every livestream eligible.
Before you start: check channel eligibility
YouTube’s fan-funding requirements include being in YPP, being at least 18, living in a location where the feature is available, and accepting and complying with the applicable terms. See YouTube’s Commerce Products monetization policies and its Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility, availability and policies for current requirements and regional availability.
YouTube’s lower YPP entry tier lists 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours over 365 days or 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days for several fan-funding features. Meeting those thresholds is not, by itself, a guarantee of Super Chat access: YouTube also applies feature-specific rules, availability and channel review. Ad-revenue eligibility uses separate, higher thresholds; it is not the same as eligibility for Supers. See YouTube’s monetization options and thresholds.
How do I turn on Super Chat in YouTube Studio?
On a computer
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and open Earn.
- Select Supers. If the Supers option is missing, check channel eligibility and regional availability.
- Choose Get started and follow the on-screen steps.
- Accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM) if Studio asks. Creators who previously accepted the Commerce Product Addendum (CPA) do not need to sign the replacement CPM, according to YouTube.
- Turn on the Super Chat switch. Super Stickers have a separate switch, so you can enable them independently.

In the Android YouTube Studio app
Open Earn, select the Supers card, then choose Get started or Turn on and follow the CPM flow if this is your first time using Supers. Labels may vary with app updates; follow the prompts shown in your account.
Check each livestream’s settings
Turning on Super Chat for the channel does not override video-level restrictions. Before a 24/7 stream starts, confirm that live chat is available and that the stream is not:

- A YouTube Giving fundraiser.
Super Chat also requires live chat or comments to remain on. YouTube’s live-stream restrictions guidance notes that a Made for Kids setting disables live chat and Super Chat. If a multi-channel network (MCN) administers your rights, check the relevant rights arrangements as well. You remain responsible for complying with applicable laws and YouTube’s terms.
Why can’t viewers send Super Chats?

- Supers is missing in Studio: check YPP membership, age, location availability and whether the required terms have been accepted.
- Super Chat is off: return to Earn > Supers and check its switch. Super Stickers being enabled does not mean Super Chat is enabled; each has its own control.
- Only this stream is affected: check that live chat is on and that the stream is not age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids or a YouTube Giving fundraiser.
- The feature is unavailable in your location: consult YouTube’s current availability and eligibility information.
Will YouTube archive a 24/7 livestream?
Do not rely on YouTube to capture a very long continuous broadcast. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is an archive limitation, not a stated limit on how long Super Chat works. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
If a replay matters, keep a local recording as a backup. You can also decide whether to split the broadcast into shorter streams, but YouTube’s guidance does not establish a universally best segmentation strategy for always-on channels. Treat archiving as a separate operational plan from turning on Supers.

Moderation and what creators receive
YouTube says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google, after local sales tax and, on iOS, Apple App Store fees are deducted. The cited YouTube Help page does not state a publication year for this figure; it was verified on October 3, 2026. Super Chats and Stickers can be moderated like other live-chat messages, and revenue reporting is available in YouTube Analytics. See YouTube’s Super Chat management guidance.
Super Chat is a paid highlighting feature for live-chat messages, not a general-purpose donation arrangement. Keep moderation rules and staffing in mind when inviting paid messages on a channel that runs continuously.
