To get alerts when an Indian government recruitment page changes, create a Sken.io monitor for the issuing authority’s public notices page, select the job-list or notice area, choose Content mode, set a check interval, and connect an alert destination. Then verify every alert against the authority’s original notice before acting.
Choose an official recruitment page to monitor
Start with the public recruitment or notices page of the authority responsible for the exam or role. Monitoring the issuing authority’s own page is preferable to relying on reposts, which may be incomplete or out of date. Check that the domain belongs to the authority before creating a monitor.

For example, the Staff Selection Commission says candidates should use its new portal, ssc.gov.in, for application forms, notifications, results, and other important updates, and advises regular visits. Its indexed page does not establish the current navigation labels or layout, so use the portal’s own current links to find the relevant public page.

Sken.io monitors public pages as an anonymous visitor. It is not intended for pages that require a multi-step sign-in, such as a private candidate dashboard. Sken.io describes monitoring as scheduled page loads that compare a selected area with its previous capture and alert when it changes (Sken.io).
Set up a Sken.io monitor
- Enter the public page URL. Open Sken.io and provide the URL of the authority’s recruitment, vacancy, or notices page. Sken.io loads the page externally; you do not need to install a script on the government website.
- Select the relevant area. Draw a selection around the job listings, notice titles, application deadlines, or status text you care about. Sken.io says content outside the selected region is ignored, so avoid selecting the entire page if unrelated areas change often.
- Choose Content mode. For new vacancy titles, changed wording, or deadline updates, use Content. It compares selected text and ignores styling. Sken.io’s mode guide also identifies government announcements as a use case (Content vs. Visual mode guide).
- Set a check interval. Choose an interval that balances urgency against your plan’s check allowance. Sken.io lists paid-plan intervals from one minute to one month. A one-minute monitor uses 1,440 checks each day, according to the service’s example; faster checks therefore consume a check budget quickly. There is no universally best interval.
- Choose where alerts go. Sken.io lists email, Android push notifications, Slack, Discord, Google Chat, webhooks, and Zapier. Pick a destination you actually check, and follow the service’s prompts to connect it.
- Save the monitor and review its first captures. Confirm that the selected area contains the intended list or notice text and that the page has loaded correctly. Adjust the selection or mode if the monitor is tracking unrelated content.
Content or Visual mode?
| Mode | What it detects | Best fit for job notices | Potential noise |
|---|---|---|---|
| Content | Changes to text in the selected area; styling changes are ignored. | New listing names, wording, dates, or deadline changes. | Text changes in the selected area may be unrelated to a new vacancy, so inspect the actual notice. |
| Visual | Changes to the rendered appearance, including layout or graphics. | Use when the visual change itself matters, rather than just notice wording. | A redesign or movement on the page can trigger an alert even if the notice text is unchanged. |
For a recruitment list, Content is usually the more useful starting point: a page redesign can alter its appearance without changing the vacancy information. Sken.io describes Visual mode as comparing the rendered appearance; its guide discusses mode choice and alert noise (Sken.io’s mode guide).
Reduce irrelevant alerts
- Narrow the selection. Track the notice list or relevant date/status area instead of headers, navigation, and unrelated page sections.
- Remove volatile elements where possible. Sken.io describes an element-removal option for cookie banners, popups, chat widgets, and rotating ads that can change between checks.
- Match the mode to the signal. Use Content for wording changes; reserve Visual for cases where layout or appearance is meaningful.
- Recheck the selected region after an alert. A change is not necessarily a new vacancy; it can be an unrelated edit inside the monitored area.
Verify an alert before applying
Open the issuing authority’s page and read the complete official notice, not just the changed snippet or alert message. Government of India GIGW guidance says recruitment notices should provide fields such as the complete title, language where relevant, application purpose or procedure, and validity where applicable (GIGW guidance).
Check that the role and eligibility fit you, note the application steps and dates, and confirm the notice is still valid. An alert is a prompt to check the source, not confirmation that you qualify or that an application window remains open.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

If you need to capture a page rather than monitor it for changes, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request can return a screenshot or PDF; for example, this cURL request captures the SSC portal as a WebP image:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://ssc.gov.in/ -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the API details. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

No useful alert arrives
Confirm the monitor is on the correct public URL, the selected region contains the relevant text, and the alert destination is connected. A monitor cannot watch a page that requires a multi-step sign-in.

Alerts arrive after harmless page changes
Reduce the selected area to the notice text, use Content mode if wording is what matters, and remove changing page elements when the Sken.io option is available.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The page changes visually but no job information changed
That is a reason to prefer Content mode for a vacancy list. Visual mode is designed to notice appearance changes, which may include redesigns or movement unrelated to recruitment.
An alert appears to announce a vacancy, but the notice is unclear
Open the issuing authority’s source page and read the full notice, checking its title, application procedure, dates, and validity. Do not rely on the alert alone.
Checks are being used up too quickly
Increase the interval if you do not need near-frequent checks. Sken.io’s published example says a one-minute monitor uses 1,440 checks per day; check consumption depends on your chosen frequency.
