The Logitech G PRO X2 RAPID is a tenkeyless keyboard with magnetic analog switches. Its two important game controls are independent: actuation determines how far a key must travel before it registers, while rapid trigger determines how far that key must return before it can register again. You can tune both per key in Logitech G HUB, save the result as a profile, or make changes from the keyboard’s onboard OLED without opening the software.
For a reliable first setup, connect the keyboard, update G HUB, set only the keys that need fast response to a relatively shallow actuation point, enable rapid trigger on those keys, and begin with a moderate reset distance. Test in the actual game, then reduce the reset distance in small steps only when accidental activations are under control.

What actuation and rapid trigger actually change
These controls affect different parts of a key press. Treating them as interchangeable makes tuning harder.

Actuation point
The actuation point is the travel distance at which the keyboard sends a key-down signal. On the PRO X2 RAPID, each key can be set from 0.1 mm to 4 mm, in 0.05 mm increments. A shallow setting registers with a light, short press. A deeper setting requires more travel and can make resting a finger on a key less likely to trigger it.

Actuation is independent for every key. You can therefore give movement keys a different value from modifier keys, number keys, or keys used for typing. There is no single correct value for the entire keyboard: the right setting depends on finger position, the game, and how often an input is repeated.
Rapid trigger
Rapid trigger changes the release behavior. Logitech describes it as adjusting “the return distance needed for the key to reset before it can be ‘pressed’ again.” With a conventional switch, a key normally has to cross a fixed release threshold. Rapid trigger lets the key become ready again after the return distance you select, so a small upward movement can end one input and a subsequent downward movement can start another.
A shorter reset distance can make repeated taps and counter-strafing feel faster, but it also leaves less physical movement between an intentional release and a new activation. If your finger wobbles on the key, an aggressive setting can produce unwanted presses. Rapid trigger is therefore a response-versus-stability control, not simply a speed switch.

Other PRO X2 RAPID hardware features
The keyboard uses magnetic analog switches, supports Key Priority (SOCD), and provides an onboard OLED for changing rapid trigger, actuation points, Key Priority and LIGHTSYNC settings. Logitech also lists 8 kHz scanning and USB polling. Those features do not remove the need to tune your settings: a high scan or polling rate cannot compensate for an actuation point that is too sensitive for your hands.

- Connect the PRO X2 RAPID directly to the computer you will use for configuration and play.
- Install Logitech G HUB, or update it if it is already installed. Logitech lists G HUB version 2026.7.992920 as the latest release, dated October 12, 2026.
- Close other keyboard-remapping tools while you configure the device. Multiple utilities can make it unclear which profile or command is active.
- Have the game or an input-testing screen ready. You need to test both a single press and a repeated press after every major change.
- If you use multiple computers, decide which one will hold the authoritative G HUB profile. The OLED can make local adjustments, but a software profile is easier to document and reproduce.
The PRO X2 RAPID’s adjustable range is broad enough to cover very light actuation and deliberate, deep presses. Do not begin by changing every key to the minimum. Establish a stable baseline first, then tune only the keys that benefit from faster response.
Set actuation and rapid trigger in G HUB
G HUB is the most useful path when you want to see values, edit many keys, and save named profiles.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Open the device page. Launch Logitech G HUB and select the PRO X2 RAPID from the device list. If it is not shown, reconnect the keyboard and restart G HUB before changing USB ports or reinstalling anything.
- Open the actuation controls. Select the keyboard’s actuation or key-behavior controls. Choose a key on the visual layout, then select its actuation value. The valid range is 0.1 mm to 4 mm, with adjustments in 0.05 mm steps.
- Configure keys individually. Set movement, repeated-action and frequently tapped keys first. Leave keys that are used for typing or long holds at a less sensitive value until you have tested the gaming keys.
- Enable rapid trigger where it helps. Turn rapid trigger on for the selected keys and choose a moderate reset distance. Rapid trigger changes the return distance required before another press can register; it does not change the actuation value you selected in the previous step.
- Test before making the setting more aggressive. In the target game, press and release each tuned key slowly, then repeat it rapidly. Check movement starts, movement stops, jump or crouch taps, and any action that depends on a clean release. If you see an unintended input, increase the reset distance or deepen actuation for that key.
- Save a profile. Store the configuration as a clearly named G HUB profile. Use a separate profile for each game or control style instead of overwriting a stable setup while experimenting.
G HUB is also the best place to keep a record of what changed. When you compare two profiles, change one factor at a time—actuation depth or rapid-trigger reset—so you can tell which adjustment affected the result.
Choose an actuation point that matches the key
Actuation is a per-key decision. A low value is useful when a key must respond to a short press; a higher value can reduce accidental presses when your finger rests over the key.
| Use case | Starting approach | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Movement keys in a fast first-person game | Try a shallow value, such as about 1.0–1.5 mm, then adjust in 0.05 mm steps. | Unwanted walking when a finger is resting on the key, or difficulty stopping cleanly. |
| Frequently repeated actions | Use a shallow-to-middle value and pair it with rapid trigger after the basic press is reliable. | Double activations, missed releases, or an action repeating when you intended one tap. |
| Jump, crouch or other deliberate single actions | Start deeper than movement keys if accidental taps are a problem. | Whether the extra travel slows the action or simply makes it more deliberate. |
| Modifiers and keys held while another key is pressed | Use a middle or deeper value unless you specifically need an early register. | Accidental activation while repositioning your hand or holding a nearby key. |
| General typing | Begin near the middle of the available range and change only keys that feel too sensitive or too heavy. | Fatigue, missed characters, and unintended letters from resting fingers. |
The values in the table are practical starting recommendations, not Logitech presets. Your switch, keycap, hand position and keyboard angle all affect the point at which a press feels controlled. If a shallow value causes accidental inputs, move deeper before changing rapid trigger; otherwise you are trying to solve an actuation problem with a release setting.

A repeatable actuation test
- Pick one key and set a middle value.
- Press it slowly five times, then tap it ten times at the speed you use in the game.
- Rest your finger lightly on the key for several seconds without intentionally pressing.
- Move your hand on and off the key as you would during play.
- Lower the actuation value one or two increments and repeat the test.
- Keep the shallowest value that produces no unwanted activation and no missed press during your normal movement.
This method is more dependable than copying someone else’s number. A setting that works for a player with a light touch may be too sensitive for a player who anchors a finger on the key.
Choose a rapid-trigger reset distance
Rapid trigger is most valuable when an action depends on repeated press-and-release cycles. It is less important for a key that is pressed once and held for a long time.
Understand the trade-off
| Reset-distance choice | Potential benefit | Potential cost |
|---|---|---|
| Shorter return distance | The key can become ready for another press with very little upward movement; repeated taps and direction changes can feel immediate. | Finger movement, vibration or an unsteady rest can be interpreted as another input. |
| Moderate return distance | Balances quick reactivation with a clearer physical release. | May feel less instantaneous than the most aggressive setting. |
| Longer return distance | Provides more separation between a release and the next activation, which can improve stability. | Requires more travel before a new press is accepted and may slow repeated actions. |
Start at a moderate distance. Reduce it gradually only when the key is registering cleanly. This incremental method is an editorial tuning recommendation; Logitech does not publish a universal preset for every game, hand or key.
Rapid-trigger tuning procedure
- Enable rapid trigger on one or two high-value keys rather than the entire board.
- Use the same actuation value that passed your basic press test.
- Choose a moderate reset distance and perform slow press-release cycles.
- Repeat the cycles quickly, then perform the exact movement or action in the target game.
- Reduce the reset distance one step at a time if the release is reliable and you still want a faster repeat.
- Stop reducing it as soon as you notice an accidental activation, a key that will not stay released, or inconsistent results between slow and fast presses.
When comparing profiles, record accidental-input rate, consistency from key to key, and the software or OLED path used to make the change. Those observations are more useful than judging a setting by how fast it feels in a menu.
Adjust settings from the onboard OLED
The PRO X2 RAPID can change rapid trigger and actuation points from its onboard OLED, along with Key Priority (SOCD) and LIGHTSYNC settings. This is useful on a tournament or shared computer where you do not want to install or open G HUB.

The exact key-by-key button sequence is not included in the available product information. For the current sequence, use Logitech’s support article titled PRO X TKL RAPID – Setting Actuation Point & Rapid Trigger without G HUB or the quick-start documentation supplied with your keyboard. Follow the labels shown on your current OLED rather than relying on a sequence from an older firmware or manual revision.
After making an OLED change, test the same keys and actions you would test after a G HUB edit. An onboard adjustment can be quick, but it is still possible to choose an actuation point that is too sensitive or a reset distance that is too short for your touch.
Save and organize profiles
Use profiles to separate experiments from settings you trust.
- Baseline: a moderate actuation setup with rapid trigger enabled only where necessary.
- Fast movement: a profile for games in which rapid direction changes and repeated taps matter.
- Deliberate control: a profile with deeper actuation or longer reset distances when accidental inputs are more damaging than speed.
- Typing: a profile that favors comfortable, predictable presses over the shortest possible travel.
Name profiles after the game or purpose, not after an unexplained number. When you change one, note the keys changed and whether the change was made in G HUB or through the OLED. If a new setting causes trouble, switch back to the baseline instead of trying to remember every previous value.
Where Key Priority (SOCD) fits
Key Priority, also called SOCD behavior, is separate from actuation and rapid trigger. Actuation decides when an individual key registers; rapid trigger decides how it resets; Key Priority defines what happens when related keys are pressed together. The PRO X2 RAPID exposes this control through G HUB and the onboard OLED.

Configure SOCD only after the individual keys behave correctly. Otherwise, a simultaneous-input rule can make a problem look like a rapid-trigger fault. Test opposing or related keys deliberately and confirm that the result matches the rule you selected for the game and its competition rules.
Test the complete setup in the game
A configuration is not finished when the slider looks right. Use a short, repeatable test in the software you intend to play:
- Check every tuned key with a single slow press.
- Check a fast tap sequence and confirm the game receives the intended number of inputs.
- Hold the key, release it, and press again without lifting your finger completely.
- Perform the movement pattern that matters to you, such as alternating directions or stopping at a precise point.
- Rest your finger lightly, reposition your hand, and repeat the movement. This exposes accidental activations that a deliberate press test misses.
- Play for several minutes before making a final judgment. A setting that feels fast for one minute may become tiring or unstable during a longer session.
Change one setting at a time and keep the previous profile available. If you alter actuation and rapid trigger together, you will not know which change caused a missed input or an unwanted repeat.

The keyboard is not visible in G HUB
- Confirm the USB connection and reconnect the keyboard.
- Restart G HUB after the keyboard is detected by the operating system.
- Update G HUB to the current release listed by Logitech, version 2026.7.992920 dated October 12, 2026.
- Use the OLED controls or the Logitech support instructions for an onboard configuration if software access is unavailable.
A key activates while your finger is resting on it
Increase that key’s actuation distance first. If rapid trigger is enabled, use a longer reset distance as well. Test again with the same resting-hand position; do not judge only by tapping the key in isolation.
A repeated action activates twice or will not stay released
The reset distance may be too short for your finger movement. Increase it in small steps and verify the actuation point separately. If the problem occurs only when two related keys are pressed together, inspect Key Priority (SOCD) rather than changing every rapid-trigger setting.
The key feels slow after making it stable
Reduce the reset distance one increment at a time, or make the actuation point slightly shallower. Test after each change. Speed is useful only if the game receives a clean press and release.
Changes made without G HUB are unclear
Use the current OLED labels and the support article titled PRO X TKL RAPID – Setting Actuation Point & Rapid Trigger without G HUB. The available product information confirms the onboard path but does not provide a complete button-by-button sequence, so do not assume that a sequence from another model or an older guide is identical.

A practical decision rule
Use actuation to decide when a press should begin, and use rapid trigger to decide how quickly that press should end and become available again. Set the actuation point as shallow as you can control without resting-hand activations. Then set rapid trigger as short as you can control without false repeats. Apply those rules per key, save a stable profile, and use the OLED when you need a quick change away from your usual computer.
