To livestream a Hindi internet radio program on YouTube with OBS Studio, confirm that your channel can go live, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, add its private stream key to OBS, route the program audio to the OBS mixer, and test the stream before broadcasting. Hindi does not require special encoder settings; the important choices are the audio source, stable upload capacity, rights to the music, and a visual that suits a radio-first program.
1. Confirm that YouTube live streaming is available
YouTube currently requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Its guidance also sets a minimum age of 16 to livestream. Check access before you schedule a show; channel eligibility and activation can take time. See YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.

- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a stream using the encoder option. Keep the Live Control Room open so you can monitor the incoming feed and stream health.
- Copy the stream key from the stream settings. Treat it as a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not show it on screen, include it in a public post, or share it with people who do not need access. YouTube explains stream keys in its stream settings guidance.
2. Create a simple radio scene in OBS
OBS scenes are built from sources layered in the Sources panel. For a radio program, a station logo, program name, or still station card is usually enough; use animated visuals only if they add something to the show and your computer can handle them reliably.
- Open OBS Studio and create a scene for the broadcast, such as “Hindi Radio Live.”
- In Sources, use the add button to add an Image source for a station graphic. Add a Text source if you want the program title or other on-screen information.
- Arrange and size the sources in the preview. Sources higher in the list appear above lower sources.
- Check that text is readable at the size viewers will see and that no graphic covers important information.

3. Route the radio program audio into OBS
The correct source depends on where the program is playing. A music player or broadcast application on the same computer may use desktop or application audio; a mixer or audio interface connected to the computer should be selected as an input device. A presenter microphone is optional: add one if the host will make links, interviews, or announcements, not simply because the stream is going to YouTube.
- Start the program audio so there is a signal to check.
- In OBS, open Settings → Audio and select the actual device or audio path carrying the program. The precise routing controls depend on your operating system, OBS version, and hardware.
- If using an external mixer or interface, add or select that device as an audio input. Add the host microphone separately if needed.
- Watch the Audio Mixer meters while the program is playing. The intended source’s meter should move; if it does not, revisit the device selection and operating-system audio routing.
- Listen to the output and confirm that the program is clear, at a sensible level, and not clipping.
OBS can capture desktop audio and a microphone by default, but the OBS quick start guide recommends selecting devices manually if the meters do not move or the wrong device is being captured. Disable unused inputs so room sound, system notifications, or monitoring audio do not accidentally go on air.

Prevent duplicate audio and feedback
If the computer plays the program through its output and OBS captures that same signal by another route, the stream may contain doubled or echoing audio. Mute one of the duplicate paths. Avoid routing the stream’s monitored output back into the stream input. Check with headphones or a private rehearsal, and confirm that only the intended sources reach the broadcast.

- In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter or connect the stream key from YouTube Studio. Keep the key private.
- Open Settings → Output and configure the streaming encoder and bitrate. For H.264, YouTube’s current guidance recommends a video bitrate of 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps or 3 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. These are YouTube recommendations, not a promise that every connection or computer can sustain them.
- Set rate control to CBR and the keyframe interval to 2 seconds, YouTube’s recommended interval; it says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- For stereo audio, YouTube’s advanced encoder recommendations list AAC or MP3, a 44.1 kHz sample rate, and 128 kbps audio. Audio bitrate is configured separately from video bitrate.
- Use RTMPS if available. YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264/H.265/AV1 video, and AAC or MP3 audio among its supported encoder options; available choices depend on your OBS build and configuration.
These are platform recommendations, not Hindi-specific settings. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings for current requirements, then choose a resolution and bitrate your upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends running a speed test and selecting quality that is reliable for your connection. A static graphic may be visually simple, but that does not establish a lower official bitrate target.

Choosing between 720p30 and 1080p30

These bitrate figures are YouTube’s recommendations in its encoder guidance, not measured performance results. Leave connection headroom for normal variation, and do not assume a speed-test peak is sustainable for an entire show.
5. Check music rights before broadcasting
Permission to play a track on an internet radio service, or access to it through another platform, does not by itself establish the rights needed for a YouTube livestream. YouTube’s livestream terms say that the person providing live content represents that they have the necessary rights for its use on Google services worldwide, including applicable music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can trigger a warning and a placeholder image; if the content remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. Even if you have a licence, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist or the stream can still be interrupted. Confirm rights for the music and recordings, composition, territories, live use, and any archive with the relevant rights holders or qualified counsel. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Do not treat YouTube Creator Music as a general licence for a radio livestream: YouTube’s Creator Music usage details say its tracks are for long-form videos, not live streams or Shorts.

6. Rehearse and start the livestream
Test the complete setup before your first show, using the same audio sources, transitions, and visual motion you plan to use on air. OBS recommends testing before a livestream; YouTube recommends a test with audio and movement similar to the intended stream.
- Make a local recording or run a private test for several minutes.
- Listen for silence, clipping, hum, noise, doubled audio, an uneven balance between music and speech, and sync problems.
- View the YouTube playback as a viewer. Confirm that the graphic looks right and the audio comes through as intended.
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, check the incoming stream and health messages before making the stream public or starting the scheduled broadcast.
- Once live, keep the Live Control Room available and monitor stream health and messages during the program.
Troubleshooting common OBS radio-stream problems
