You can set up OBS to send a music stream to YouTube from a low-end Indian laptop, but no settings can guarantee that an unspecified laptop, power supply, or internet connection will stay stable for 24 hours. Start with a simple static visual, 30 fps, conservative bitrate, and a test broadcast. Keep the laptop powered and connected while OBS streams; if it cannot reliably run continuously, a cloud service is an alternative.
Before you start: prepare YouTube and OBS
You need a YouTube channel with livestreaming enabled, OBS Studio, a music source you have permission to livestream, and an internet connection with reliable upload capacity. YouTube says enabling livestreaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for the current Live Control Room workflow.

- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, then set its title, visibility, and other stream details.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown in the stream setup. Treat the key like a password: do not share it, show it on screen, or publish it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio.
- Connect OBS. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose YouTube if it is available, or use the server information supplied by YouTube, and enter the stream key. OBS’s overview guide explains the service/server and key fields.
- Build a minimal scene. Add a still image or other simple visual source and the audio source for your music. In OBS, scenes contain sources such as images and media; a static visual avoids unnecessary motion for this kind of broadcast.
Choose conservative video and audio settings
In OBS, set the canvas to match your visual and choose an output resolution and frame rate the laptop can handle. Start testing at 30 fps rather than 60: OBS warns that streaming at 60 fps can be substantially more demanding. This is a cautious starting point, not a guarantee of stability on every low-end laptop.

These figures are from YouTube’s encoder settings guidance, accessed in 2026; that access year is not a publication date. Run an upload-speed test and leave headroom rather than setting OBS to consume all the upload capacity. Other devices and changing network conditions can reduce what is available to the stream.
For YouTube live ingestion, the encoder guidance specifies RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video; constant bitrate (CBR); and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. It lists AAC or MP3 audio and recommends stereo at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps. In OBS, select the available encoder and set CBR, the keyframe interval, and audio format/rate in the output settings. If you see an option for a hardware encoder, use it only if OBS offers it for your machine and a test shows it works reliably. OBS’s x264 guide describes the trade-off between encoding load and available hardware encoders such as NVENC, Intel QuickSync, and AMD VCE.

Test the stream before leaving it live
YouTube recommends testing before the broadcast and monitoring stream health and messages during it. Test with the same visual loop, audio source, and settings planned for the real stream. Listen for audible, clean music, check that the visual behaves as intended, and watch both OBS’s status and YouTube’s stream health.

OBS gives these as ways to reduce x264 encoding load.
- If YouTube reports unstable stream health: lower the bitrate and retest; confirm the upload connection can sustain the chosen rate.
- If there is no sound: check that the intended audio source is active and that its meter responds in OBS, then verify audio in the YouTube preview.
- If the stream disconnects: OBS has an automatic reconnect setting in advanced settings, but reconnect is not an uptime guarantee. Confirm the YouTube stream key and connection settings, and check whether the laptop, OBS, power, or internet connection stopped working.
A local 24/7 stream depends on the laptop remaining powered, cool enough to operate, connected to the internet, and running OBS without interruption. The laptop model, cooling, upload connection, and power situation determine what is realistic; there is no dependable one-size-fits-all setting for an unspecified machine.

Plan for a session longer than 12 hours
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24-hour session exceeds that stated condition, so do not assume it will be archived as one complete replay. If a full replay matters, plan separate sessions or a separate recording and archive approach; YouTube’s cited guidance does not specify all archive behavior for streams of 12 hours or longer.
Before going live, make sure you have rights and permissions for every track and for livestream use. The encoder setup guidance does not establish what licensing or Content ID outcome applies to a particular recording.
