Preflight checks that prevent a confusing first run
- Identify whether the computer is Apple Silicon, Intel, x64, or ARM64 before downloading.
- For Linux, check both the glibc and glibcxx levels, not just the distribution name or kernel version.
- Decide which repository or folder you will expose and remove unrelated material from the first project when practical.
- If you plan to use New worktree mode, begin with a Git repository and know where you normally inspect branches and status.
- Have a Google account available. A personal account is supported, while a business account can be connected to Gemini Enterprise.
These checks separate installation problems from project-configuration problems. They also make the first generated diff small enough to understand.
Install the Antigravity 2.0 application
Download and sign in
- Open the official Antigravity 2.0 download page and select the package matching your operating system and architecture.
- Launch the application after installation and sign in.

Create a project boundary
Projects define which local folders and Git repositories agents may access. Setting that boundary before asking for code keeps the task focused and makes it clear which files the agent can inspect.
- In the application, select the folder-plus control.
- Choose New Project.
- Add one or more local folders or Git repositories.
- Create the project. Project settings can be configured separately after creation.
Add the smallest folder that contains the code needed for your first task. A narrowly scoped project makes the generated plan and resulting diff easier to review. If the repository contains credentials, private exports, or unrelated customer data, do not add those locations merely for convenience.

- Enter your goal in the project chat and press Enter.
- When the setup modal appears, choose Local mode to let the agent work directly in the active folders.
- Choose New worktree mode when you want the agent to work in an isolated Git worktree instead of changing the active working copy.
A worktree is an isolation choice for the agent’s Git working copy; it is not a promise that every possible external side effect is impossible. Review the task, permissions, generated files, and any commands before accepting changes.
Install and launch the Antigravity CLI
Use the installer for your shell
The official CLI guide says the agy binary is registered in a user-local path by default. Use one of these OS-specific paths:

These commands download and execute an installer. Piping a remote script into a shell has security implications, so read the current official CLI instructions, verify that you are using the intended URL, and follow your organization’s software-installation policy before running one. The commands above are the documented fast paths, not an independently tested installation.
Complete the first launch
- Open a terminal in the repository or workspace you want Antigravity to use.
- Run
agy. If the shell cannot find it, check the user-local binary path configured by the installer and start a new terminal session. - Choose a color scheme when the first-launch terminal UI (TUI) asks.
- Select the requested rendering mode.
- Confirm workspace trust only after checking that the directory is the one you intend to expose to the agent.
After trust is confirmed, the guide says the agent indexes the files and becomes ready. Indexing can take time in a large repository; avoid submitting a task until the workspace is available. If the files shown do not match the repository you opened, stop and correct the working directory before granting trust.

Show me a plan before editing files.The URL, filename, error handling, and plan request in this expanded prompt are practical instructions, not requirements of the official sample. Use a page you are authorized to access, and avoid sending credentials or private data in the prompt.
Inspect before you run
- Read the proposed plan, if your selected mode presents one.
- Check the files the agent intends to add or modify and confirm they are inside the project boundary.
- Review the diff for accidental edits, hard-coded secrets, unnecessary dependencies, and unsafe shell commands.
- Confirm that the script’s network behavior is appropriate for the target site and your local policy.
- Check that the expected output filename and invocation instructions are clear enough for someone else to reproduce.
Do not treat a generated plan as proof that the code is correct. It is a description of intended work that you should approve, revise, or reject.

Run and iterate from observed errors
- Run the generated script in the intended Python environment.
- Read the complete error message and note the command, URL, status code, or missing module involved.
- Give the agent the concrete error and ask for a targeted correction rather than a broad rewrite.
- Review the new diff, run the script again, and keep the change only when the output matches your requirement.
The onboarding material establishes the sample task and the plan-oriented workflow; it does not establish that the task was executed or tested by the guide’s authors. Your local run is the validation step. A successful response from the agent is not the same as a successful network request or readable extracted text.
Understand Local mode and New worktree mode
Local mode
Local mode acts directly in the active folders you added to the project. It is convenient for a quick change when you are comfortable reviewing and reverting edits in the current working copy. Use a clean, version-controlled starting point when possible so the diff clearly shows what the agent did.
New worktree mode
New worktree mode gives the agent an isolated Git worktree. It is useful when you want the task separated from the active checkout while you inspect the result. Because this is a Git-based working-copy option, start from a Git repository and verify where the worktree was created before looking for the changed files. Isolation concerns the working copy; review network calls, generated artifacts, and other side effects separately.
Which mode should you choose first?
Choose Local mode when the active folder is disposable or you deliberately want edits in the checkout you opened. Choose New worktree mode when you want a separate Git working copy for comparison or review. Neither choice replaces ordinary code review: inspect the resulting files, Git status, commands, and external effects in either mode.
Troubleshoot the first setup
The installer fails or the command is unavailable
- Confirm that you used the command for the correct shell: PowerShell and Command Prompt use different Windows paths.
- Open a new terminal after installation so the user-local path can be loaded.
- Check the operating-system and architecture requirements before retrying.
- Read the current official CLI guide if an installer URL, authentication step, or first-run screen has changed.
The application will not install on the computer
Recheck the minimum OS versions and library levels. On macOS, pay particular attention to the documented Intel x86 limitation even if a download selector displays an Intel build. On Linux, verify both glibc and glibcxx rather than checking only the kernel version.

Make sure the intended folder or repository was added to the application project, or that the CLI was launched from the intended workspace. In the CLI, confirm workspace trust; indexing begins after trust is confirmed. In the IDE, open the repository or folder that contains the task instead of a parent directory with unrelated material.
The result is in the wrong place
Check whether you selected Local mode or New worktree mode. Local mode changes the active folders; a new worktree places the work in an isolated Git working copy. Inspect the project’s location and Git status before concluding that files are missing.

The agent proposes an unsuitable plan
Stop before implementation and restate the constraints: the exact file name, allowed folders, expected output, dependency limits, and error behavior. A smaller task is usually easier to correct than a large first prompt. Once the plan is acceptable, review the diff again after coding.
The generated script runs but produces poor text
Describe the observed output precisely and ask for a focused change, such as handling a particular response format or saving to a specified file. Do not ask for a wholesale rewrite until you understand whether the issue is the URL, access policy, parsing approach, or output requirement.
