Choose the right Android automation first
Use this quick map before changing settings:
| What you want to do | Use this feature | Where you start | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Repeat a prompt, briefing, digest or summary | Gemini Scheduled actions | Gemini mobile app prompt box | Keep Activity must be on; maximum 10 active actions; rollout is gradual |
| Run a Gemini task at a time or after a qualifying event | Gemini Spark schedule | A Gemini task thread or Live chat; manual schedule management is on the web app | Requires eligible account, age, subscription and region |
| Chain starters and actions, including lights, plugs or other supported devices | Google Home Routine | Google Home app > Routines | Supported choices vary by device and setup; routines are not safety controls |
| Set an alarm, timer, media control or supported phone setting now | Gemini Device assistance | Gemini mobile app on Android | Some actions need notification access or Google-app default-assistant status |
Scheduled actions and Spark schedules are Gemini task features. Google Home Routines are the assistant and household automation system, while Device assistance performs supported Android actions immediately rather than running a recurring schedule.

Set up recurring prompts with Gemini Scheduled actions
Scheduled actions are the closest match for a repeating Gemini “routine.” You describe the prompt and the recurrence in the Gemini app, and Gemini prepares a response on that timetable. Google positions the feature for daily, weekly and monthly routines such as digests and wrap-ups. See Google’s current instructions at Schedule actions in Gemini Apps.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Check the requirements
- Use the Gemini mobile app on Android.
- Turn on Keep Activity. Scheduled actions are unavailable when the required activity setting is off.
- Use an eligible personal Google Account or a qualifying work or school account.
- Expect a gradual rollout. If the menu is missing, the account may not have received access yet.
- If the prompt needs another app, connect that app to Gemini first.
- You can have up to 10 active scheduled actions.
Create an action in the Gemini app
- Open the Gemini mobile app on your Android phone.
- Tap the prompt box and write the task in ordinary language. Include the output you want, the time and the recurrence. For example, ask for a weekday morning summary of your calendar and unread email, if those services are connected and available to your account.
- Submit the prompt. Gemini replies with a summary of the scheduled action. Read the summary carefully; it is the confirmation of what Gemini understood.
- If the time, days or wording is wrong, correct it in the same conversation before relying on the schedule.
Be explicit about a time zone when you travel or work across regions. A prompt such as “every weekday at 8 a.m.” is less ambiguous than “each morning,” particularly if the phone’s time zone changes.
Edit, pause or delete a scheduled action
- Open Gemini’s profile menu.
- Choose Scheduled actions to see the actions associated with the account.
- Select an action to edit or delete it. You can also open the chat that created the action and manage it there.
If creation fails, first check Keep Activity, the active-action count and the connected-app requirement. A missing Scheduled actions entry can also simply mean the feature has not reached that account.
Understand how fresh the result will be
Gemini prepares scheduled responses in advance. Google says the feature works best for digests and wrap-ups, not information that changes minute by minute. A scheduled stock-price request, live score or breaking-news alert may be stale when delivered. Use a scheduled action for a recurring summary, and open the relevant service directly when the exact current value matters.
Use Gemini Spark schedules for tasks and event monitors
Spark schedules are separate from Gemini chat Scheduled actions. They attach a schedule to a task and can run at a time or respond to qualifying events. Google documents three kinds: time-based schedules, Gmail monitors that react to messages matching a filter, and topic monitors for selected event categories. The official requirements and availability are listed in Create and manage schedules for tasks in Gemini Spark and the Android-specific page at Create and manage schedules for tasks in Gemini Spark – Android.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Confirm that Spark is available to you
- You must be at least 18.
- Use a personal Google Account.
- Have Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra.
- Keep Activity must be on.
- Google lists the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland and the United Kingdom among regional exclusions. Availability can change, so check the linked Help page for your location.
These conditions are stricter than Scheduled actions. A personal account that can create ordinary Gemini chats may still be ineligible for Spark schedules.
Create a time-based schedule from mobile
- Open a Gemini task thread or start a Live chat in the Gemini mobile app.
- Describe the task and specify when it should run. State whether it is one-time or recurring and include the desired time and days.
- Review Gemini’s confirmation. Keep the task wording narrow enough that the result is predictable.
- Return to the task thread when you need to change the schedule or the task instructions.
Google currently documents conversational scheduling in the mobile app. The Schedules page and manual time-based schedule creation are documented as web-app controls, so do not assume every schedule-management button will appear on Android.
Use Gmail and topic monitors carefully
A Gmail monitor can watch for messages that meet a filter and then trigger the task. Define the sender, subject or other matching conditions as narrowly as the available filter allows; a broad filter can run the task more often than intended. Topic monitors cover selected event categories rather than arbitrary real-time web data.
Monitors are not designed for fast-moving information or time-critical alerts. Google specifically cautions against relying on them when a delay could matter. For urgent mail, security notices or rapidly changing prices, use the source service’s own notifications or check it directly.

Manage and troubleshoot Spark schedules
- If the schedule controls are absent in the mobile app, open Gemini on the web and look for the Schedules page.
- If Spark refuses to create a schedule, verify age, personal-account status, AI Pro or Ultra subscription, region and Keep Activity.
- If a monitor triggers unexpectedly, tighten its Gmail filter or choose a narrower topic.
- If a result arrives late or is out of date, treat the monitor as a convenience summary rather than an alerting system.
Build personal and household automations in Google Home
Use Google Home Routines when the automation combines a starter with one or more actions, especially connected-home controls. This is the current path for routines formerly associated with Google Assistant. Google’s setup guidance is in Automate daily routines and tasks with Google Assistant.
Create a personal or household routine
- Open the Google Home app on Android.
- Tap Routines.
- Tap New.
- Choose Personal or Household. A personal routine is tied to your activity; a household routine is intended for shared home devices and members.
- Add at least one starter. Depending on the routine type and setup, starters can include a voice command, a time, sunrise or sunset, a dismissed alarm or a supported device event.
- Add at least one action, such as an assistant response, media command or supported smart-home control.
- If the routine includes audio actions, select the audio device before saving.
- Save the routine and test it with a non-critical action.
The choices shown in the editor are conditional. Device compatibility, account settings, routine type and other limits can change which starters and actions are offered. If an expected device is absent, confirm that it is set up in the same Google Home environment and that the manufacturer currently supports Google Home.
Example: a simple connected-device routine
A practical test is a scheduled household routine that switches a lamp or other low-risk load through a Google Home-compatible smart plug. Google Home’s setup guidance covers the category, not a particular make or model, so check the exact plug’s current Google Home compatibility before buying. In Google Home, choose a time or voice starter, select the plug as the action, and save. Start with a lamp or another device that is safe to leave off if the routine fails.
Safety and reliability limits
Google says routines are for convenience only, not safety- or security-critical use cases. A routine can fail to start, stop or reach every device. Do not use one as the sole control for locks, heaters, medical equipment, alarms, fire protection or any situation where a missed action could cause harm. Keep a manual control and an independent safety system where one is required.

Use Gemini Device assistance for immediate phone actions
Device assistance is not a recurring scheduler. It lets Gemini perform supported actions on the Android phone, including setting alarms and timers, opening apps, interacting with notifications, controlling media and changing some device settings. Read the current capability list in Control your Android mobile device and apps with Device assistance and What you can do with your Gemini mobile app.
Enable the permissions it needs
- Open Gemini on Android and ask for a supported action, such as “set a 20-minute timer” or “open Maps.”
- For notification reading or replies, allow notification access for the Google app when Android requests it. You can also search Android Settings for Notification access and enable the Google app; the exact menu name varies by phone.
- For some device-setting and quick-action features, set the Google app as the default digital assistant in Android’s default-app or assistant settings. The wording and location differ among manufacturers.
- Retry the command and check the confirmation on the phone. If the action is unsupported, Gemini may explain the limitation instead of changing the setting.
On Android, the Google app hosts Gemini and its digital-assistant capabilities. Google says Device assistance is designed to work automatically even when Keep Activity is off, which distinguishes it from Scheduled actions and Spark schedules.
Expect manufacturer differences
Clock behavior is not identical on every phone. Google documents that HONOR, OnePlus, OPPO, Samsung, TECNO and Xiaomi phones use the manufacturer’s clock app. On other devices, the Google Clock app is preferred when enabled. If an alarm or timer appears in a different clock app than expected, check which clock application the phone has assigned.
Gemini still does not support every familiar Assistant function. If a feature you depend on is unavailable, Google says you can switch to Google Assistant. Keep the assistant you choose as the default and test critical commands after a major Android or app update.

Permission, account and rollout checklist
When an automation does not appear or does not run, identify the feature first and then check only its relevant conditions:
- Scheduled actions: Keep Activity on, eligible account, fewer than 10 active actions, connected app available, and feature rollout completed.
- Spark: age 18 or older, personal account, Google AI Pro or Ultra, Keep Activity on, supported region, and a task thread or Live chat. Use the web app for the documented Schedules page.
- Google Home: correct Personal or Household routine, starter and action both present, target device linked and compatible, and audio device selected when audio is used.
- Device assistance: supported command, notification access for notification work, and Google app set as default assistant when the action requires it.
Also check Android’s battery restrictions and network connection if a cloud-dependent action is delayed. These are general phone conditions rather than separate Gemini features: a paused app, offline phone or revoked account permission can prevent an otherwise valid automation from completing.
How to choose and test an automation safely
Match the trigger to the job
Choose Scheduled actions for a predictable recurring answer, Spark for a task that needs a timetable or qualifying event, Google Home for a chain of starters and device actions, and Device assistance for a one-off phone command. Trying to recreate a Google Home routine inside Gemini Scheduled actions will leave you without the device-event controls that Home provides.

- Use a short interval or a test time that you can observe.
- Make the first action produce a harmless result, such as a notification, a short summary or a lamp changing state.
- Confirm the account, time zone, connected app and target device.
- Observe at least one successful run before adding more actions or relying on it daily.
- Document a manual fallback for anything important.
Keep schedules maintainable
Use descriptive names and precise wording. Remove obsolete Scheduled actions so you do not reach the 10-action limit. Review Spark Gmail filters when your inbox rules change. In Google Home, avoid long chains when separate routines are easier to test. Recheck eligibility and device compatibility after changing accounts, phones, regions or subscriptions, because Google can change rollout and support conditions.
What these Android automations cannot guarantee
No option here guarantees real-time information, uninterrupted execution or universal device support. Scheduled actions can prepare stale information; Spark monitors are unsuitable for time-critical alerts; Home routines can fail and are explicitly not safety mechanisms; and Device assistance is limited to supported commands that vary by phone manufacturer. Treat each automation as a convenience layer, keep notifications and direct controls for important events, and verify the result rather than assuming that a confirmation means every downstream device completed the action.
