To set up Fitbit Air, charge it, install Google Health on a compatible phone, sign in with a Google Account, then pair the tracker in the app under Connections → Add device. After pairing, Google says the tracker automatically syncs its health and fitness data to Google Health. Health Connect is a separate, optional connection for sharing selected data with other compatible Android apps.
Before you begin
Google Health requires a Google Account. Google lists support for Android phones running Android 11 or later and iPhones running iOS 16.4 or later. Install or update the app from Google Play or Apple’s App Store, using Google’s current setup requirements for details. Some phone models may have compatibility issues even when they meet the general operating-system requirement; Google lists the Huawei P8 Lite, Huawei P9 Lite, Xiaomi Mi 6, and Huawei P20 Lite among affected models.

Fitbit-account users need a Google Account to access Google Health. Google’s requirements page says Fitbit-account access ended after May 19, 2026, and that it began processing data deletions on July 15, 2026, after a period when users could download or delete their data. These are Google’s published dates; check your account’s current status and options on Google’s account page.
Connect Fitbit Air to its charging cable before starting. Google’s Fitbit Air setup guide says the package includes a charging cable.

Pair Fitbit Air with Google Health
- Install and open Google Health. Sign in with a Google Account. If you need an account, follow the account-creation prompts in the app.
- Start device setup. In Google Health, open Connections, select Add device, and choose Fitbit Air. If you already have a connected device, the app may show Add more devices instead.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. Keep the tracker connected to its charging cable while you complete setup.
- Check the device list. Confirm Fitbit Air appears as connected in the app. Google says syncing happens automatically after connection; it does not give an exact duration for the first sync.
Wear Fitbit Air for a secure fit
Wear the tracker on top of your wrist, behind the wrist bone. The sensor should remain in contact with your skin, and the woven band should feel comfortably snug without sliding or rotating.
To change the band, push the tracker out of the current band, press it into the replacement, and align the small markings on the tracker and band.

What Fitbit Air tracks in Google Health
Fitbit Air is a screenless tracker. Google’s guide lists steps, sleep, heart rate, distance, cardio load, calories burned, and sleep stages among the data available in Google Health. Availability can vary: some advanced health-tracking features require Google Health Premium, and features such as Irregular Rhythm Notifications and SpO2 estimation are not available in every region. The list should not be taken as a guarantee that every metric or feature is enabled for every user.

Google says a Google Health account can connect one Fitbit device or Pixel Watch at a time, with one exception: an account can use one Fitbit Air and one Pixel Watch together. Google Health can detect the active wrist-worn device and reconcile data across active devices. When both are worn, it prioritizes a source for each metric; you can inspect the source in that metric’s expanded graph.

Connect Google Health to Health Connect (optional)
Pairing Fitbit Air with Google Health is required to use the tracker. Health Connect is a separate Android integration that lets Google Health share selected data with other compatible apps. Google’s documented setup requires Android 9 or later and an adult Google Account.
- In Google Health, open Connections → Partner apps → Sync your favorite health apps → Set up.
- Continue through the consent screens and choose which data to share.
- Review the selected data and permissions before completing setup.
If Fitbit Air will not connect
Use Google’s current “Why can’t I set up my Fitbit device?” troubleshooting instructions for pairing problems. Google’s Fitbit Air setup guidance points to that help rather than documenting a complete model-specific checklist, so avoid trying undocumented reset sequences or permission workarounds.
