To get alerts when an Indian university or counselling authority updates an admission page, add its official notice page to Distill.io, monitor the notice list (or the full page), choose where checks run, and add an alert action such as email. Then verify every alert on the official source: a detected page change is not proof that a notice is authentic, applies to you, or remains current.
Find the right official page first
There is no single page that carries every Indian university admission notice. Depending on the institution, course and admission cycle, updates may appear on a university site, a state counselling portal, or a national counselling portal. Start with the official site for the program and cycle you need.

- JoSAA’s official 2026 counselling portal has news and public notices.
- Punjab’s Department of Higher Education Admission Portal publishes UG/PG schedules and guidance.
- The Government of India Admissions portal aggregates counselling bodies and latest notifications.
These are examples, not a complete directory. Confirm that the page belongs to the relevant institution or counselling authority and covers your course and admission year. Prefer a page whose notice list changes when a new item is posted. If the notice is a linked PDF, monitor the listing that receives the new title or link, then open the PDF yourself after an alert; successful monitoring of every PDF or dynamically loaded page is not guaranteed.

Set up a monitor in the browser extension
- Install and open Distill’s browser extension in a supported browser, then navigate to the official admission-notice page.
- Click the Distill toolbar icon and choose Monitor full page or Monitor parts of page.
- If monitoring parts, use the visual selector to select the notice list or schedule area. Review the selection so it covers the notices you care about, not just a heading or unrelated page content.
- Save the selection, then configure the monitor’s name, device, schedule and alert action. Save the monitor.
- Open Distill’s Watchlist and check the monitor preview to confirm that the intended content is being watched.
Distill’s extension guide describes the monitor setup. Its visual selector documentation explains that a selected region is saved as a CSS or XPath selector and can be edited. Monitoring only the notice area can reduce irrelevant alerts from changing menus, banners or other page content, but it cannot eliminate false positives. If the site is redesigned, revisit the selection.
Set up a monitor in Distill’s web app
- In the web app, click Add monitor, choose Web Page, and enter the official page URL.
- Select the notice section if practical, or choose Full Page. Save the selection.
- Configure the monitor’s actions and schedule, then save.
- Find the monitor in the Watchlist. Use its preview and change history to inspect what Distill recorded.

Choose where checks run
Distill monitors a page by opening it on a schedule, reading its HTML and notifying you when something changes, as described in its official product documentation. The choice between local and cloud determines where that scheduled check runs.

These are the figures on Distill’s current local-versus-cloud comparison; plan terms and account options can change. The two-minute minimum is specific to the Flexi plan, not a universal Distill interval. Check the options in your account before relying on a particular response time, especially for time-sensitive notices.

Add email alerts
- Sign in to Distill and open the monitor’s options or actions.
- Add Email, select a configured address, and save the action.
- If you add another recipient address, verify it before expecting alerts to arrive there.
Distill’s email alert instructions cover the setup. Available actions can depend on the account or subscription.
Check notices and keep the monitor useful
When an alert arrives, open the original university or counselling-authority page rather than treating the alert itself as confirmation. Read the notice and check its date, academic year, program, applicable deadlines and any linked PDF. Confirm that the information is still current on the official source before acting.

- If the alert reflects a menu, banner or unrelated change, edit the selected area to focus on the notice list.
- If notices stop appearing in the monitor after a page redesign, review and update the saved selection.
- Use the preview and change history to compare what Distill captured with the live official page.
These checks help you interpret changes; they do not guarantee that a portal’s content will always be detected, or that an alert will arrive by a particular deadline.
