You can stop repeatedly checking crypto charts by creating target-price alerts in an exchange or tracking app. Choose the asset or trading pair, set whether you want an alert above or below a price (or for a documented percentage move), save it, and allow notifications both in the app and on your phone. The alert is only a prompt to review the market—it is not an automatic trade and does not guarantee a notification at the exact moment a threshold is crossed.
What a crypto price alert does—and what it does not do
A price alert watches a selected market condition for you. When the provider’s price feed meets the condition you specified, the service can place a notification in its app, send a push notification, and sometimes send email. This lets you monitor a level without leaving a chart open.

Alerts are informational. Coinbase states that its alerts “do not place an order for that asset” and are not investment advice. Reaching a target does not reserve that price for you, guarantee that you can buy or sell at it, or guarantee that a notification will arrive instantly. Prices can move through a level before you read the message, and feeds, networks, app processes, or device settings can delay delivery.

- Alert: a notification that a condition may have occurred.
- Order: an instruction submitted to a market or exchange. You must create this separately.
- Trigger level: the price, percentage, or change condition you select.
- Delivery channel: push, in-app inbox, email, or another option offered by that service.
Use an alert as a cue to check the current quote, order-book conditions, fees, liquidity, news, and your own plan before taking action.

Choose the right alert source
The simplest choice is usually the app you already use. Exchange apps can show alerts beside the market where you would eventually trade. Independent tracking apps can be useful when you want to follow prices without using an exchange interface. Feature names, limits, and menu locations can vary by country, account, operating system, and app version, so treat the paths below as the documented routes rather than a promise that every screen will look identical.
| Source | Best fit | Documented conditions or delivery | Operational notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coinbase mobile | You already use Coinbase and want an asset watchlist plus target alert. | Above or below a target price; notification settings list push, in-app, and/or email options. | The asset must be on your watchlist for its alert to send. |
| Binance Pro app or desktop | You want trading-pair alerts and more condition types. | Reach a price, rise above, drop to, percentage change over/under, and 24-hour change over/down; frequency can be selected. | The documented limits are 10 alerts per pair, 50 total, and 90-day validity; verify current limits in the app. |
| CoinGecko mobile | You want a tracking app with one-time or recurring target alerts. | “Once” or recurring target alerts; its guide also covers NFT floor-price alerts. | It is a tracking workflow, not an instruction to execute a trade. |
| CoinMarketCap | You want per-coin alerts and an in-app notification inbox. | Per-coin app alerts and global notification options; messages appear in the inbox and on signed-in devices. | Check the current app settings because labels can change. |
There is no universally best provider established by these features alone. Decide whether you value an exchange-native workflow, an independent watchlist, recurring reminders, percentage conditions, or a particular delivery channel.
Prepare before creating an alert
Pick the exact market
Decide whether you are following an asset generally or a specific trading pair. A pair such as an asset quoted in USD, EUR, or a stablecoin can produce a different threshold from the same asset quoted elsewhere. Select the quote currency that matches the decision you expect to make.
Recommended Free Tools
Define the trigger and direction
Write down the condition in plain language before opening the app: “Notify me if the pair rises above [price]” or “Notify me if it falls below [price].” If you use a percentage or 24-hour-change alert, define whether the move is over or under the stated value. Avoid setting a level so close to the current price that ordinary price noise creates messages you will ignore.
Choose how often you need a message
A one-time alert is suitable for a single decision point. A recurring alert is useful for a continuing range or scheduled review, but it can create notification fatigue. If the service offers frequency choices, select the least frequent option that still matches your plan.
Check permissions first
Allow notifications for the app in the phone’s operating-system settings, then enable the corresponding alert category inside the app. Also check Focus, Do Not Disturb, battery-saver, background-data, and notification-summary settings. A saved alert cannot bypass a device-level block.
Set up a Coinbase price alert
Coinbase’s documented mobile flow starts with the watchlist. Use the current app labels where they differ from the sequence below.

- Enter the target and save the alert.
- Open Account & Settings → Notification Settings.
- Review the separate predetermined-alert and custom-alert areas, then turn on the supported push, in-app, and/or email channels you will actually notice.
- Confirm that phone-level notifications for Coinbase are allowed.
Coinbase says only watched assets send an alert. If you saved a level but receive nothing, first verify that the asset remains on the watchlist, the relevant notification category is enabled, and the phone has not silenced the app.

Delete or change a Coinbase alert
Use Account & Settings → Notification Settings and open the relevant alert category. The available edit or delete controls may be presented beside the alert. Remove obsolete levels so an old threshold does not prompt an unnecessary review.
See the documented feature description and settings details in Coinbase Help. A regional version of the same help path is also available at Coinbase Help (US path).
Set up a Binance price alert
Binance’s documented price-alert feature is available in Binance Pro. The app workflow is pair-based, so choose the exact market rather than assuming an alert applies to every quote currency.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Open Binance Pro and go to Markets.
- Search for and select the trading pair.
- Tap Alert.
- Choose the alert type, such as reaching a price, rising above, dropping to, a percentage change over or under, or a 24-hour change over or down.
- Enter the target value.
- Choose the frequency offered for that condition.
- Tap Create Alert.
- Enable Binance notifications in the phone or desktop operating-system settings.
Desktop route
In the Binance desktop app, open the Alerts icon and choose Create Alert. Select the market or pair, condition, target, and frequency, then save and check system notifications.
Binance limits and expiry
The Binance support page lists a maximum of 10 alerts per trading pair, 50 alerts across trading pairs, and 90-day validity. These are service rules documented on a page updated in 2026 and can change. Review the current in-app limit and expiry information before relying on a long-running alert. If an alert disappears after an expiry period, recreate it rather than assuming it remains active.
Read the current instructions at Binance Support.
Use tracking apps when you do not want an exchange workflow
CoinGecko
CoinGecko’s mobile guide describes target-price alerts with a one-time Once choice or a recurring option. Search for the cryptocurrency, open its alert control, set the target and direction, choose whether it should trigger once or repeatedly, and save. The same guide describes NFT floor-price alerts, which are a different metric from a fungible-token market price. Enable app notifications on the device before testing the alert.
Follow the provider’s current guide at CoinGecko’s price-alert instructions.
CoinMarketCap
CoinMarketCap’s settings page describes per-coin app alerts and global notification controls. After selecting a coin and target in the app, check the notification settings and the in-app inbox. Notifications are described as appearing in the CoinMarketCap inbox and on devices where you are signed in. A tracking alert does not submit an order on an exchange, so you would still need to open the appropriate trading venue and reassess the market.

Design alerts that are useful instead of noisy
Use decision levels, not every round number
Create a level because it changes what you will do, not merely because it is visually neat on a chart. For example, one above-target alert might tell you to review whether a planned sell level is still relevant, while one below-target alert might tell you to check risk controls. The alert should lead to a deliberate review, not an automatic reaction.
Separate “market moved” from “I need to act”
A percentage-change alert can identify unusual movement, while a target-price alert can identify a level tied to your plan. Keep them separate and name them clearly if the app supports names. A 24-hour-change alert may trigger even when the price is nowhere near your planned entry or exit level.
Account for the quote currency
If you normally budget in a local fiat currency but the app displays a stablecoin pair, the threshold may not represent exactly the same amount. Confirm the pair, quote currency, and displayed units before saving.
Use recurring alerts sparingly
Recurring notifications are useful for a broad monitoring range, but repeated messages can become background noise. Set a review schedule—such as checking the alert list weekly—and disable conditions that no longer correspond to a decision.
Delivery settings: why a saved alert can appear to fail
Alert creation and alert delivery are separate controls. Work through these checks in order:
- In-app category: Confirm that price alerts or custom alerts are enabled, rather than only general marketing notifications.
- Operating-system permission: In the phone’s app-notification settings, allow alerts and banners or sounds as appropriate.
- Focus and quiet modes: Check scheduled silencing, notification summaries, and priority rules.
- Background operation: Battery optimization or restricted background data can delay an app’s ability to refresh.
- Account session: For services that show messages on signed-in devices, confirm that you are signed in to the intended account.
- Email filtering: If email is enabled, inspect spam, promotions, and inbox rules.
- Alert status: Look for an expired, paused, deleted, or completed one-time alert.
- Correct market: Verify that you selected the intended asset, pair, and quote currency.
Do not infer that no notification means the price never reached the level. Check the provider’s alert list and current chart, then confirm whether the threshold condition and delivery channel were active.
Understand timing, price feeds, and execution risk
Different services can use different market data, refresh intervals, and trigger logic. A brief spike on one feed may not appear identically on another. The sources reviewed do not establish a universal delivery guarantee or an identical trigger timestamp across providers.

Even if a notification arrives quickly, the market may have moved by the time you open the app. An alert does not lock in a quote, reserve liquidity, or account for trading fees, spread, slippage, outages, or withdrawal and settlement times. Treat the message as a request to obtain current information, not as proof that a specific execution price is available.
Never give an app more account access than necessary. Use official app stores and the provider’s own settings, protect the account with a strong unique password and multifactor authentication, and do not enter credentials after following an unsolicited alert link.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Binance P2P alerts are a separate feature
A peer-to-peer alert tracks advertisement prices for a fiat–crypto pair, not the ordinary spot-market alert flow described above. Use it only when you specifically trade through peer-to-peer advertisements.
- Open Trade → P2P.
- Open your Profile.
- Choose Custom Alerts → Price Alert.
- Set the relevant fiat–crypto advertisement condition and save it.
- Enable device notifications.
The Binance P2P support page states that this feature allows up to 50 P2P alerts and that alerts expire after 90 days. Those limits are service rules and may change, so verify them in the current interface. Read the separate documentation at Binance P2P support.
A practical alert-maintenance routine
- At setup: Record the asset or pair, quote currency, direction, target, frequency, and delivery channel.
- After saving: Confirm the alert appears in the provider’s active-alert list and that phone permissions are on.
- During a review: Compare the notification with the current quote and the exact market you intended to monitor.
- After a major plan change: Edit or delete levels that no longer represent a decision.
- Before a long absence: Check expiry dates, especially on services with documented 90-day validity.
- After an app update or phone change: Recheck notification permissions, signed-in status, and background restrictions.
This routine prevents stale alerts from accumulating and makes it easier to tell whether a missed message came from an incorrect condition, an expired alert, or a delivery setting.

Common mistakes and fixes
Setting the alert on the wrong pair
Symptom: The number looks right but the alert never behaves as expected. Fix: Reopen the alert and confirm the base asset, quote currency, and market type.
Saving an alert without enabling notifications
Symptom: The alert appears in the app but no banner or sound arrives. Fix: Turn on the app’s price-alert category and the operating system’s permission; then check Focus and battery restrictions.

Symptom: Notifications become so frequent that you ignore them. Fix: Keep only levels tied to a specific decision, reduce recurrence, and delete obsolete alerts.

- Open the provider directly rather than tapping an unverified message link.
- Confirm the asset, pair, quote currency, and current price.
- Check whether the movement is still present and whether spread or liquidity changes the practical quote.
- Review relevant account, risk, fee, and order settings before taking any action.
- If the alert was one-time and you still need the level monitored, create a new alert deliberately rather than assuming it repeats.
This process keeps the notification in its proper role: a timely reminder to investigate, not a substitute for checking the current market or making a considered decision.
Bottom line
Set one or two decision-based alerts in the app you already trust, enable both app and device notifications, and review expiry and frequency settings regularly. Coinbase offers a watchlist-based mobile path; Binance Pro supports pair-based conditions and documented limits; CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap provide tracking-oriented alternatives. Whichever route you choose, the alert tells you to look—it does not execute a trade or promise a precise fill.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a crypto price alert guarantee that I buy at the target price?
No. An alert is informational. You must review the current market and submit any order separately, and the price may have moved before you act.
Why did I receive an alert late?
Notification timing can be affected by the provider’s price feed, network conditions, app background restrictions, operating-system settings, and notification delivery. The documented sources do not promise an exact delivery time.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsShould I use an exchange alert or a tracking app?
Use the exchange app if you want the market and any later trade in one workflow. Use a tracking app if you prefer an independent watchlist or need recurring monitoring without relying on an exchange interface.
Do Binance spot alerts and Binance P2P alerts monitor the same thing?
No. Standard alerts monitor trading-pair conditions. P2P alerts monitor advertisement prices for a fiat–crypto pair and have a separate setup path and limits.
