What cross-play and cross-progression mean in Battlefield 6
Cross-play lets you play with people on other supported platforms. Battlefield 6 supports PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and cross-play starts enabled. EA says console matchmaking prioritizes players on the same console; if there are not enough console players available, it may include PC players. Cross-progression means supported game progress follows your EA Account across platforms. The official PlayStation Battlefield 6 FAQ confirms that rank, unlocks, and Battle Pass rewards carry across supported platforms through your EA Account. “Cross-save” is often used to describe this continuity, but it should not be taken as a promise that every setting, entitlement, paid item, or game copy transfers.
Set up the EA Account that will hold your progress
Choose the EA Account you intend to keep using before you launch the game. EA says a player needs an EA Account to play Battlefield 6 and that progress is stored through it. If you played the Battlefield 6 Beta or Battlefield 2042 Road to Battlefield 6, EA advises using the same EA Account, where relevant. See EA’s Battlefield 6 account linking and access guide.

- Sign in to the intended EA Account on EA’s website.
- Open the EA Account Connections page and check whether the platform accounts you plan to use—such as PlayStation, Xbox, or Steam—are listed.
- If a platform is missing, follow EA’s account-linking instructions for that platform. EA’s general guide is Link your EA Account to your console, Steam, and more.
- Launch Battlefield 6 using that EA Account on each supported platform where you play.
EA says console and EA accounts created with the same email address should connect automatically when the game loads on console, but verify the connection on the EA Account Connections page rather than assuming it worked.
Be careful before unlinking or switching accounts
EA advises linking an account you plan to keep long-term. It limits account switches to three times in a rolling year and warns that unlinking can have consequences. If you cannot access an old or expired account, try to recover it before changing links. Do not assume progress or purchases can be moved to a different EA Account.

Add a friend who plays on another platform
Use EA Connect to find and invite a cross-platform friend. EA’s control guide gives the following access keys: R2 on PlayStation, RT on Xbox, and Tab on PC.
- Open Battlefield 6 and press R2 on PlayStation, RT on Xbox, or Tab on PC to open EA Connect.
- Select Search Accounts and enter your friend’s EA ID or platform ID.
- Select the matching account and choose Add Friend.
- Have your friend accept the request under Friend Requests.
- When they appear in your EA Connect Friends list, invite them to your group.
Turn cross-play off on a console
Cross-play can be disabled on Xbox and PlayStation, but EA does not list a PC option for this setting. You also cannot change it while in a party, on a server, or after matchmaking has begun.

- Leave your party or server and do not start matchmaking.
- Open the game’s gear or settings menu.
- Go to System > Configuration > Cross-play.
- Switch Cross-play off.
With cross-play off, EA says matchmaking is limited to players on the same platform. If console cross-play is on, the game still favors the same console and may include PC players when the console pool is too small.

The confirmed cross-progression items are rank, unlocks, and Battle Pass rewards, provided you use the same EA Account on supported platforms. Progression does not establish that you own the game on every platform. Treat each platform’s game license, storefront entitlement, and online-play subscription as separate checks. For example, the PlayStation product page says PS Plus is required for online play on PS5.

PC launcher requirements also vary by how you access the game: EA says Steam players do not need the EA app, while players who bought through Epic Games Store and EA Play Pro members need it. In each case, an EA Account is still required.
