To accept credit-card tips during a livestream, set up a creator tipping page with a payment processor, then place its link where viewers can find it. With Streamlabs, its credit-card setup article specifies connecting a PayPal Business account in your tip settings. If you are raising money for an eligible nonprofit instead, use YouTube Giving: it is a separate fundraiser flow, not a personal tip page.
Choose between creator tips and nonprofit donations
Decide where the money should go before setting up a payment link. A creator tip supports you; it is not automatically a charitable donation and should not be described as tax-deductible. A nonprofit fundraiser routes donations to an eligible nonprofit through YouTube Giving, subject to YouTube’s eligibility and regional rules.

- Personal creator tips: Use a tipping page such as Streamlabs’ and connect a payment option that supports card payments for your account and location.
- Nonprofit fundraising on YouTube: Check whether your channel can create a YouTube Giving fundraiser. Eligible fundraisers can appear on videos or livestreams, with a Donate button in live chat when the fundraiser is attached and live chat is enabled.
Set up a Streamlabs tip page for card payments
Streamlabs’ dedicated credit-card setup article says to connect PayPal Business in Streamlabs tip settings to enable credit-card tipping. Its separate quick guide also describes PayPal Standard, but identifies that option as PayPal-only; follow the payment choices shown in your current account.
- Sign in to Streamlabs and open the dashboard. Select Tipping to reach the tipping setup.
- Connect PayPal Business. Complete PayPal’s account connection and any onboarding or verification it requests. Streamlabs’ credit-card article names PayPal Business for credit-card tipping. Payment availability and provider requirements depend on your location and account.
- Configure the tip page. Set the currency and, as appropriate, the minimum amount, suggested amounts, and page design. Save the settings.
- Copy the tip-page URL. This is the link viewers will use to reach your payment page.
- Make the link easy to find. Add it to your channel page or panels and to livestream descriptions. Streamlabs’ guide names Twitch and Kick panels and YouTube channel information and livestream descriptions as placements.
- Check the viewer-facing flow before promoting it. Open the link as a viewer would, confirm that the page and payment methods are appropriate for your location, and check that your payment account is ready to receive funds.
Streamlabs says its tip page is free and that it does not take a cut of credit-card tips, but payment processor charges still apply. For PayPal Business tipping, Streamlabs says payments go directly through PayPal from donor to creator rather than being held by Streamlabs; PayPal may sometimes require the account owner to manually accept a payment. Donor payment choices and provider availability can vary by country.

Consider the separate Streamlabs Stripe card option
Streamlabs also documents a Stripe card-tipping option separately from the PayPal Business instructions. Its FAQ, dated October 20, 2025, describes checking-account and identity-verification requirements and says users must be at least 18. The option is not available in every country, and account prompts and processor terms should be checked before you rely on it.
In that FAQ, Streamlabs lists Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States as supported streamer countries for the Stripe card option. If your country is not listed, Streamlabs says to use another available payment option.

The same FAQ gives a standard card-processing fee of 2.9% plus US$0.30, varying by streamer and donor country, and a 2% currency-exchange fee when the donor pays in a currency other than the onboarding currency. It also says a card tip can be charged back. The listed chargeback handling is a US$15 fee plus the original amount deducted; the US$15 is returned if the chargeback is won. These figures are specific to Streamlabs’ FAQ and may not apply to every account or remain current, so confirm the terms shown by the processor.

YouTube Giving is the relevant route when the purpose is to raise funds for a nonprofit, not to collect personal creator tips. YouTube Help lists these creator setup criteria: the channel is based in an available location, has at least 10,000 subscribers, is in the YouTube Partner Program, and is not designated as made for kids. Regional availability applies, and YouTube notes that some channels may see fundraising outside those criteria; check YouTube Studio for your channel’s actual options.

- Check YouTube Studio for fundraiser availability. Confirm that your channel and the nonprofit you intend to support are eligible in your location.
- Add the fundraiser to the livestream. For donations through live chat, attach the fundraiser to the livestream and enable live chat.
- Confirm what viewers will see. An eligible fundraiser can show a Donate button on the video or livestream; with Live Chat Donations, viewers can donate from the live chat.
- Monitor activity in the Live Control Room. YouTube says donation activity is visible there. When Live Chat Donations are used, Super Chat and Super Stickers are turned off on that livestream to avoid confusion.
YouTube says 100% of donations to an eligible nonprofit go to that nonprofit and that YouTube covers credit-card transaction fees. YouTube also says voluntary nonprofit donations are non-refundable. These terms apply to YouTube Giving, not to personal creator tips.

Protect your privacy and set expectations
Payment providers may show merchant information on a donor’s card statement. Streamlabs recommends using a PO box or business address to avoid a personal address appearing, but this does not guarantee that every bank statement will omit personal details. Review the provider’s rules and the information donors will see before you publish the link.

Also tell viewers plainly whether a link supports you personally or sends money to a nonprofit. For personal tips, do not imply tax deductibility. For YouTube Giving, name the nonprofit and use the platform fundraiser so the donation is routed through the nonprofit flow.

Common setup problems and what to check
- Viewers do not see a card option: Check that you connected PayPal Business rather than PayPal Standard, which Streamlabs describes as PayPal-only. Payment choices may also depend on account and country.
- The payment connection is unavailable: Review the provider’s supported locations and complete any outstanding verification or onboarding prompts. The Streamlabs Stripe card option has a specific supported-country list and is not universal.
- The tip link is missing or hard to find: Recheck the channel panel, channel information, or livestream description where you added it, then open the page as a viewer to verify the link works.
- A PayPal payment appears to need action: Streamlabs says PayPal may sometimes require the account owner to manually accept a payment. Check the PayPal account for pending payment prompts.
- You cannot add a YouTube fundraiser: Check the channel’s eligibility, regional availability, and fundraiser options in YouTube Studio. For live-chat donations, ensure the fundraiser is attached to the stream and live chat is enabled.
