To get an alert when ADA’s faster moving average crosses above its slower one, create a TradingView alert on a Cardano chart and select a golden-cross condition. This walkthrough uses a 50-period simple moving average (SMA) crossing above a 200-period SMA on a daily chart. The alert reports a chart condition; it is not a prediction that ADA will rise or a recommendation to buy.
What an ADA golden cross alert detects
In this example, a golden cross occurs when the 50-period SMA crosses upward through the 200-period SMA. A cross in the opposite direction is commonly called a death cross. The 50/200 settings come from a TradingView community indicator by Trader745638, which recommends daily or 24-hour charts; they are an example, not a universal or officially prescribed trading rule. “Period” means one chart bar. On a daily chart, 50 and 200 periods correspond to 50 and 200 daily bars; on an hourly chart, they refer to hourly bars instead. The chosen interval therefore changes how much elapsed price history each average represents. The indicator author says the script can be used on any timeframe but recommends daily and 24-hour intervals.

Set up the alert in TradingView
- Open the ADA market you want to monitor. Choose an available Cardano trading pair and verify both its ticker and venue—for example, an ADA/USD market if that specific feed is available in your account. Different feeds can use different symbols, so confirm the chart header before continuing.
- Choose the chart interval. For the example, select 1D (daily). Daily is consistent with the community indicator author’s recommendation and makes the 50/200 periods refer to daily bars.
- Add a crossover indicator. Select an indicator that lets you configure the short and long averages and their calculation type. For this example, set the short period to 50, the long period to 200, and the calculation to SMA. The cited script labels the upward event “Golden Cross.” Review the description and source of any community script you choose; its presence on TradingView is not independent evidence that its signal predicts price movements.
- Open the alert configuration. You can right-click the indicator and choose Add alert, or open Alert Manager and choose the indicator under Condition. TradingView’s technical-alert help documents these routes and indicator alerts.
- Choose the upward-cross condition. Select the indicator and its Golden Cross condition. Labels differ between scripts. Check that the selected event means the fast average crosses upward through the slow average—not the reverse cross or a different signal.
- Set the trigger frequency and notifications. Choose Once Per Bar Close if you want the alert to wait for the current candle to finish. This avoids acting on a crossover that appears only during an unfinished bar, but does not prevent every false signal. TradingView also offers trigger choices such as once, every time, and once per minute; their availability can depend on the alert condition. Select the notification methods you want.
- Name the alert and set its expiration. A descriptive name such as “ADA 50/200 SMA Golden Cross — 1D” makes the market, settings, and interval easy to recognize. Choose an expiration that fits how long you want the alert active. TradingView’s alert-configuration help covers symbol, condition, trigger frequency, expiration, and message settings.
- Review the saved alert. In Alert Manager, confirm the symbol and venue, chart interval, indicator, upward-cross condition, trigger frequency, notification settings, and expiration.
What to check if the alert condition is missing or wrong
- No Golden Cross option: The selected indicator may use different condition names or may not expose a separate upward-cross alert. Check that it supports alerts and that its configured averages are the intended fast and slow averages.
- The alert refers to the wrong market: Reopen the chart and verify the ticker and venue. An ADA symbol from another exchange or feed is not necessarily the same chart series.
- You changed the indicator after creating the alert: TradingView says an existing alert continues to use the settings it had when created. As its technical-alert help puts it, “If an indicator’s parameters are changed after an alert is created, the alert will still trigger using the old settings.” Review the saved alert and update or recreate it after changing periods or other indicator parameters.
How to interpret an alert
A moving-average crossover is calculated from past prices, so it is a lagging technical condition. It does not establish that ADA will rise, and a bar-close trigger only determines when the condition is checked—not whether the signal will be profitable. No predictive accuracy or success rate for an ADA golden cross is established here. TradingView also cautions against relying on its technical ratings alone; its Cardano technical-analysis page displays ratings that vary by interval and over time.
