To stream from Astra Streaming Studio to YouTube, use Astra as an RTMP or RTMPS encoder: get the server URL and stream key in YouTube Studio, enter them in Astra’s destination settings, then check the preview and stream health before broadcasting. Confirm you have the right Astra app
Several unrelated products use the name Astra. These steps are for Astra Streaming Studio by MIV Dev, an Android app whose Google Play listing describes mobile streaming and lists H.264/AAC encoding, RTMP, RTMPS, recording, image and slideshow overlays, and scene switching. The listing was updated on 31 October 2023; it does not establish a minimum Android version, recommended handset, or a YouTube-specific integration. Check the current listing and compatibility on your device before planning a broadcast.

Verify the channel and enable live streaming ahead of the broadcast. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, and its eligibility guidance says the channel must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and allow time for activation.

Clear the music before streaming
A Hindi-language channel, attribution in the description, or a personal music subscription does not itself establish permission to broadcast a song. The rights needed depend on the actual compositions and sound recordings, rights holders, territory, and permissions granted. YouTube for Artists advises: “If you’re planning on using copyright-protected music during your live stream, we recommend coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid any issues, such as copyright strikes.” See YouTube for Artists’ guidance for music channels going live, and get confirmation from the relevant rights holders or authorized representatives for the repertoire and territories involved. A slide, static image, or slideshow does not change those rights requirements.
Connect Astra Streaming Studio to YouTube Live
- Create or select the stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio and choose Create → Go Live. Create a stream or select an existing one in Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the general workflow.
- Copy the server URL and stream key. Find these in the stream settings in Live Control Room. Treat the stream key as a password: do not share it or show it in a public screenshot or recording. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Set Astra’s destination. In Astra Streaming Studio, choose an RTMP or RTMPS destination if that option is available, then enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in the corresponding fields. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension to RTMP. Astra’s listing confirms protocol support, but does not verify the exact screen layout or field labels, so the wording may differ in the installed app.
- Prepare the audio and visual scene. Select the audio source and check its level for distortion. Astra’s listing describes image/slideshow overlays and scene switching; use a visual treatment appropriate to the broadcast, but do not treat it as a substitute for music permission.
- Send a test stream. Start streaming from Astra and watch the YouTube Live Control Room preview and stream health. For a scheduled event, follow YouTube’s on-screen instructions about when to click Go live. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the real broadcast and monitoring stream health and messages; see its live encoder settings and recommendations.
- Start the public broadcast only after the checks pass. Confirm the intended stream is selected, the preview shows the expected picture, audio is audible and clean, and YouTube reports no unresolved stream-health issue.
Choose stable encoder settings
The Astra listing establishes H.264/AAC support, but does not document every setting exposed in its app interface. Use only options actually available in your installed version, and prioritize a stable connection and clean audio over settings the phone or upload connection cannot sustain.

There is no documented minimum upload speed for this specific Astra-and-channel combination in the cited guidance. Check the upload connection where the phone will be used, then test with the actual audio and motion planned for the broadcast. Test and troubleshoot before the audience arrives
- YouTube does not show a preview: confirm Astra is sending to the selected YouTube server URL and that the matching stream key is entered. Check for an accidental space or a key copied from a different stream.
- YouTube rejects the connection or key: compare the destination URL and key with the current stream settings in Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and update Astra with the replacement.
- Live streaming is unavailable: verify the channel and enable live streaming in advance. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours; also check whether the channel has a live-streaming restriction within the preceding 90 days.
- Video or audio is unstable: monitor YouTube’s stream-health messages, test the connection, and reduce the selected resolution or bitrate if the device or upload connection cannot sustain it. Recheck audio levels for clipping or distortion.
- The scheduled stream is not public: check YouTube Live Control Room and follow its prompt for when to click Go live; sending from the encoder and starting the public event are separate parts of YouTube’s scheduled-stream workflow.
- A music rights concern remains unresolved: do not broadcast the track until the relevant rights holder or authorized representative confirms the applicable livestream and territory permissions. A successful technical test does not establish music rights.
