To set up AOL Mail in Samsung Email, add it as an Other account, choose Manual setup if prompted, and select IMAP if you use the mailbox on multiple devices. You’ll need AOL’s current incoming and outgoing server settings; consult AOL’s official instructions for those values rather than guessing. If you prefer, AOL’s Android app is another option.
Choose the app that fits how you want to sign in

Samsung’s menu names and screens can vary by Galaxy model and software version. Its setup guide, dated June 5, 2021, notes that device interfaces may differ. Samsung’s Email setup guide covers the documented route.

Set up AOL in Samsung Email
- Open Email. If Samsung Email is not installed, Samsung says it can be downloaded from Galaxy Store or Google Play.
- Add an account. Choose Other. If another mailbox is already in the app, open its add-account option; the exact menu location varies by version.
- Enter your AOL address. Type the full email address and continue. If prompted, choose Manual setup.
- Select IMAP. Samsung recommends IMAP when you access the account on multiple devices.
- Enter AOL’s current incoming and outgoing server settings. Use AOL’s official instructions for the server names, ports and security settings. The AOL help article for third-party POP or IMAP setup is listed as dated March 4, 2025; consult it for current values: AOL’s POP/IMAP setup information.
- Complete sign-in and allow the app to check the account settings.
Use an AOL app password if Samsung Email rejects your password
AOL says a third-party app that does not use AOL’s branded sign-in requires an app password. If Samsung Email uses that kind of sign-in, create one in AOL Account Security and use it as the password in the mail app instead of your usual AOL password. AOL’s app-password instructions explain how to generate one.

- Open AOL Account Security and choose the option to generate an app password.
- Name the app, then generate the password.
- Enter the generated password in Samsung Email when it asks for your AOL password.
AOL says an app password remains active if you change your main AOL password. You can invalidate it by deleting it from the app-password list.

Troubleshoot setup problems
If the account will not connect or authenticate, check the likely causes in turn. Samsung lists incorrect credentials or settings, two-step verification, provider-side issues and network connectivity among possible causes. Its troubleshooting guidance is at Samsung’s email troubleshooting page.

- Recheck the address and password. Make sure the full AOL address is entered and there are no typing errors.
- Verify the server settings. Compare each value with AOL’s current POP/IMAP instructions; do not substitute settings from an unverified source.
- Check the sign-in method. If the app does not use AOL’s branded sign-in, try an AOL app password rather than the regular account password.
- Review two-step verification. Confirm that any required verification step is completed.
- Check the connection and service status. Try a stable network and consider whether AOL may be having a service issue.
