The vivo X Fold6 has a 6.51-inch cover display for use while the phone is folded and an 8.02-inch main display for use when it is open. You can use the outside screen for quick access and camera previews, then open the phone for a larger workspace and OriginOS foldable multitasking. The steps and features below reflect vivo’s published information; available settings may vary by market and software version.
Know which X Fold6 screen you’re using
The narrower panel on the outside is the cover display. It remains accessible when the phone is folded. Open the device to use the larger main, or inner, display.

Use the cover display while the phone is folded
The cover display lets you use the phone without opening it. vivo’s published material specifically describes several camera uses for the outside screen:

- Read a prompt: preset teleprompter text can appear on the cover screen while the rear camera records.
vivo describes what these features do but does not provide exact Camera app menus or tap-by-tap activation instructions on the cited product page. If you do not see them, check the Camera app and the support information for your region and installed software version rather than relying on a path from another model.
Open the inner display for multitasking
The inner screen gives apps more room. OriginOS 6 Fold also includes foldable multitasking features, but not every app necessarily supports every layout.

Launch Origin Workbench
- Open Settings > Foldable Devices > Origin Workbench.
- Enable the Origin Workbench gesture toggle.
- Swipe inward from the bottom-right corner of the screen to launch Origin Workbench.
The menu path and gesture are documented on vivo’s India product page. If the labels differ on your phone, consult the manual or update support for your market.

vivo says you can switch to Multi-Split Screen Mode by slightly folding the device or swiping upward with three fingers. Its China launch announcement describes two arrangements: a serial mode with up to five windows—one main window and four auxiliary windows—and a parallel layout with four windows. The announcement also says users can resize and save split-screen layouts. These are manufacturer-described capabilities, not a guarantee that any chosen apps will work in every arrangement. Set wallpapers and app behavior without guessing
If you want different wallpapers for the inner and cover displays, or want an app to continue on the other screen when you fold or unfold the phone, check the settings on your own device. The official material cited here does not establish a current X Fold6 menu path or confirm those specific controls. Use Settings search, or consult the X Fold6 manual and software-update support for your region. vivo’s Europe support page lists an X Fold6 self-service repair manual and update area, but does not provide a display-setup path.
Do not assume instructions for the original vivo X Fold’s smart-window folio case apply to the X Fold6. The older-model instructions concern that case, not a verified X Fold6 display feature: vivo Community post about the earlier X Fold.

Protect the inner display’s film
The inner display comes with a specially designed protective film. vivo says the film is integral to the display and warns against removing or replacing it yourself; if it needs replacement, contact an official customer-service center. This guidance concerns the inner-screen film and should not be treated as a general rule about every accessory or cover-screen protector. Details are on vivo’s X Fold6 product page.
