To play records wirelessly, turn on a Bluetooth-capable active speaker, put that speaker into Bluetooth pairing mode, place it within 1 m (3.3 ft) of the AT-LP60XBT, then hold the turntable’s wireless-function button for about two seconds. The turntable’s indicator flashes red and blue while it searches; a steady blue light means pairing is complete. The turntable stays in pairing mode for 30 seconds, so repeat the sequence if that window expires.
You do not need to change the PHONO/LINE switch for Bluetooth playback. That switch applies to the RCA wired output. Before pairing, assemble the platter and belt, connect the AC adapter, and make sure the speaker is an audio receiver rather than a device waiting to transmit music.

What you need before pairing
The AT-LP60XBT sends audio to a Bluetooth receiver. In a typical setup, that receiver is a Bluetooth-compatible active speaker: a speaker with its own amplifier and power supply. The speaker must support Bluetooth audio reception and must be placed in its own pairing mode using its controls. Button names and pairing procedures vary, so the speaker’s manual is the authority for that part of the process.
A passive speaker cannot be connected directly to the turntable by Bluetooth or by the supplied RCA cable. Passive speakers need an amplifier or powered receiver between them and the turntable. For a direct wired connection, use powered speakers or another component with a suitable audio input.

Have these items ready:
- AT-LP60XBT turntable and its AC adapter
- A Bluetooth speaker that can receive Bluetooth audio
- A record and the supplied felt mat
- The platter, drive belt and belt ribbon supplied with the turntable
- Clear space close enough to keep the speaker within 1 m (3.3 ft) during pairing
The core pairing sequence and timing come from Audio-Technica’s AT-LP60XBT user manual. Regional manuals can use different illustrations or labels, so check the documentation supplied with your unit if a control appears different.
Assemble and power the turntable
Complete the mechanical setup before troubleshooting wireless audio. A turntable can pair successfully and still produce no usable music if the belt, platter or stylus has not been installed correctly.
Install the platter and drive belt
- Place the platter on the center spindle.
- Loop the drive belt around the inner ring on the underside of the platter.
- While holding the platter, route the belt over the motor pulley through the access opening. The belt should sit flat, without twists.
- Pull off the belt’s protective ribbon after the belt is positioned. Leaving the ribbon in place can prevent normal drive operation.
- Place the felt mat on top of the platter.
If the belt path is unclear, use the diagrams in the Audio-Technica Japan setup guide rather than guessing. Put the turntable on a stable, level surface, connect the AC adapter, and keep the tonearm secured until you are ready to play a record.

Check the physical controls
The AT-LP60XBT is fully automatic. Its record-size selector is used for 12-inch and 7-inch records, and its speed selector supports 33-1/3 and 45 RPM. The START control begins the automatic sequence; the tonearm moves to the record and returns at the end of playback.
Put the Bluetooth speaker into pairing mode
- Turn on the speaker and select its Bluetooth input if it has multiple sources.
- Use the speaker’s Bluetooth or pairing control to make it discoverable. Some speakers require a short press; others require holding the button until an indicator flashes.
- Move the speaker close to the turntable, ideally within 1 m (3.3 ft), before starting the turntable’s search.
The speaker must be waiting for a new Bluetooth connection. Merely turning on Bluetooth, opening a phone app, or selecting an already-connected source may not make the speaker discoverable. If the speaker is currently connected to a phone, tablet or computer, disconnect that device or use the speaker’s documented procedure to accept a new pairing.

Pair the AT-LP60XBT
- Keep the AC adapter connected and leave the speaker in pairing mode.
- Press and hold the AT-LP60XBT wireless-function button for about two seconds.
- Watch the turntable indicator. Alternating red and blue flashes mean it is searching for a receiver.
- Wait for the indicator to illuminate blue. That blue indication means pairing has completed.
- Start playback only after the speaker confirms the connection, then adjust volume on the speaker.
Audio-Technica states that “The product stays in the pairing mode for 30 seconds.” If the speaker and turntable do not complete the connection during that period, put the speaker back into pairing mode and repeat the sequence from step two.
Pairing normally remains saved. The turntable can remember up to eight receiver devices. You may need to pair again if the receiver deleted the turntable from its connection history, the turntable was repaired, or the eight-device memory limit has been exceeded.

Play a record after pairing
- Remove the stylus protector by sliding it off horizontally. Do not pull the stylus protector downward or sideways against the stylus.
- Place the record on the platter.
- Select the record size and speed that match the record.
- Press START. The automatic mechanism positions the tonearm and begins playback.
- Set listening volume with the Bluetooth speaker’s controls.
- When the record ends, allow the automatic return mechanism to complete its cycle before removing the record.
Do not force the tonearm onto the record or move it by hand while the automatic cycle is operating. If the platter does not turn, stop and recheck the belt and its ribbon before investigating Bluetooth settings.
What the turntable’s Bluetooth light means
| Indicator behavior | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Alternating red and blue flashes | The turntable is searching for a Bluetooth receiver and is in pairing mode. | Keep the speaker discoverable and within 1 m (3.3 ft). Complete pairing within the 30-second window. |
| Blue illumination | Pairing is complete. | Start the record and confirm that the speaker is using its Bluetooth input. |
| No successful connection before the window ends | Pairing mode has timed out. | Re-enter pairing mode on the speaker, then hold the turntable’s wireless button for about two seconds again. |
The indicator describes the turntable’s Bluetooth state; it does not confirm that a record is spinning, that the stylus is contacting the groove, or that the speaker volume is turned up.
Why the AT-LP60XBT will not pair
The speaker is not actually discoverable
A speaker can be powered on without accepting a new pairing. Reopen the speaker’s Bluetooth mode using the speaker’s own controls and watch for its pairing indication. If it automatically reconnects to a nearby phone, tablet or computer, disconnect that device first. Then restart the turntable’s 30-second pairing sequence.

The devices are too far apart during pairing
Use the manufacturer’s recommended pairing distance: no more than 1 m (3.3 ft). Once connected, you can reposition the speaker, but walls, furniture, radio interference and the specific speaker can affect operation. Keep the initial pairing deliberately close so distance is not an unknown variable.

The alternating red-and-blue indication is temporary. If it stops before the speaker connects, repeat both sides of the process: put the speaker into pairing mode again, then hold the turntable’s wireless-function button for about two seconds. Do not keep pressing the button continuously after the search has started; restart the sequence when the window expires.
The speaker is the wrong type of Bluetooth device
The AT-LP60XBT is a Bluetooth audio transmitter. It sends the turntable’s sound to a receiver. A speaker designed only to transmit audio, a Bluetooth keyboard, or a device waiting to receive a phone call is not an appropriate destination. Confirm that the speaker advertises Bluetooth audio playback or a Bluetooth speaker mode.
The receiver has stale pairing information
Pairing can fail after the speaker’s saved-device list is full or after it has retained an old record of the turntable. Use the speaker’s documented controls to remove the old turntable entry or clear its Bluetooth history, then place the speaker into pairing mode and repeat the normal sequence. The turntable itself stores up to eight receiver devices; pairing again may be necessary after the receiver deleted the turntable, after repair, or after more than eight receivers have been paired.
The turntable was repaired or its saved state changed
Audio-Technica’s pairing guidance identifies repair as a situation in which re-pairing may be required. Treat it as a fresh setup: power the speaker, clear or reopen its pairing mode, place it within 1 m, and run the two-second wireless-button procedure.

It pairs but there is no audible music
- Confirm that the speaker remains on its Bluetooth input rather than AUX, USB or another source.
- Raise the speaker volume gradually and check whether its mute control is active.
- Verify that the record is on the platter, the correct speed and size are selected, and START was pressed.
- Check the stylus protector. Playback cannot occur correctly if it is still installed.
- Inspect the belt and pulley if the platter is not rotating.
- Move the speaker close to the turntable and test again to rule out placement or interference.
Pairing status and playback status are separate. A blue Bluetooth indication does not by itself prove that the mechanical setup or record controls are correct.
Do you need to change PHONO/LINE for Bluetooth?
No. The PHONO/LINE selector is not needed for the AT-LP60XBT’s Bluetooth connection. Leave it unchanged when the turntable is sending audio wirelessly.
The selector matters when you use the RCA cable. The turntable has a built-in phono equalizer, allowing a powered speaker or other line-level device to receive an appropriate signal without a separate phono preamp when the output is set correctly. Use the equipment’s labels and the manual’s connection guidance:
| Receiving input | AT-LP60XBT selector | Connection note |
|---|---|---|
| Line, AUX or another line-level input on powered equipment | LINE | Connect the RCA cable to the equipment’s corresponding line input. |
| Dedicated phono input | PHONO | Use only when the receiving equipment provides a phono input and its own phono stage. |
| Bluetooth speaker | Selector position is not required for Bluetooth pairing | Pair wirelessly; the speaker receives the Bluetooth audio stream. |
Do not connect the turntable directly to passive speakers. The RCA fallback requires powered speakers, an amplifier, or another suitable component that can drive the speakers.

| Consideration | Bluetooth connection | RCA wired connection |
|---|---|---|
| Required receiving equipment | Bluetooth-compatible active speaker or another Bluetooth audio receiver | Powered speaker, amplifier or compatible audio equipment with the correct input |
| Cabling | No audio cable between turntable and speaker | Supplied RCA cable runs from the turntable to the receiving input |
| Turntable selector | PHONO/LINE setting is not needed for Bluetooth setup | Set PHONO or LINE to match the receiving input |
| Placement | Convenient for a speaker positioned away from the turntable; pair close first | Requires the RCA cable to reach the powered equipment |
| Failure points | Pairing mode, saved-device history, distance and receiver compatibility | Wrong input, incorrect PHONO/LINE setting, loose RCA plugs or unsuitable passive speakers |
Bluetooth is the simpler choice when the speaker is already a compatible receiver and you want fewer cables. RCA is the predictable fallback when wireless pairing is unavailable or when your powered speaker or amplifier is located beside the turntable. Neither method removes the need for correct record setup and a functioning belt.

Bluetooth range, codecs and regional differences
Audio-Technica Japan lists Bluetooth version 5.0, A2DP, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, aptX and SBC support, plus a maximum range of 10 m in clear line of sight, for the AT-LP60XBT WW regional variant on its product and specifications page. Those figures are product specifications for that WW version, published in 2023, not a guarantee of the distance in every room or for every market version.
The receiving speaker also affects the connection. Its supported codecs, antenna design, firmware and local radio environment can change the result. A nominal 10 m clear-line-of-sight specification should not be interpreted as a promise that the same distance will work through several walls. Pair within 1 m as the setup instruction requires, then move the speaker gradually and test the location you intend to use.
Audio-Technica’s broader product information also identifies aptX support, RCA connectivity, automatic playback at 33-1/3 and 45 RPM, and a switchable built-in preamp. Regional model pages can differ, so use the manual and product page for the exact unit and market you own. The Audio-Technica India product page is an additional manufacturer reference, not a substitute for your local documentation.
A reliable first-time setup checklist
- Platter is seated on the spindle.
- Belt is looped around the platter’s inner ring and motor pulley.
- Protective belt ribbon has been removed.
- Felt mat is installed.
- Turntable is level and the AC adapter is connected.
- Speaker is powered on and set to Bluetooth pairing mode.
- Speaker is within 1 m (3.3 ft) of the turntable for pairing.
- Turntable wireless button is held for about two seconds.
- Alternating red/blue flashes are followed by a blue indication.
- Stylus protector is removed horizontally before playback.
- Record size and speed are correct.
- START is pressed and the speaker is on its Bluetooth input.
When to use the manuals or support
The manufacturer’s documented procedure covers normal pairing, receiver distance, the 30-second search window and the eight-device memory capacity. It does not document a factory-reset sequence in the cited pairing section. Avoid unofficial button-hold combinations presented as guaranteed reset instructions. If the speaker cannot enter pairing mode, follow that speaker manufacturer’s manual. If the turntable still will not pair after the documented steps, consult the regional Audio-Technica support channel and provide the exact model and market version.
For the standard setup, the shortest dependable path is: assemble the belt and platter, power the turntable, put a compatible active speaker into pairing mode, hold the wireless button for two seconds within 1 m, wait for blue, and then start the record. Use RCA with the correct PHONO/LINE setting when wireless pairing is not suitable.
