Confirm which F35 and ColorOS build you have
OPPO’s India specification page identifies the device covered here as the OPPO F35 5G, model CPH2931. Do not assume that instructions for another F-series phone or another country’s firmware will use the same labels. ColorOS menus can move when OPPO changes the software, and the company’s support documentation warns that paths may vary by model as well as by version.
- Open Settings.
- Scroll to About Phone or About Device. The wording depends on the build.
- Read the ColorOS version and software information before changing any setting.
- Keep that version number beside you while using the menu table below.
The F35 product page currently lists ColorOS 16.0 for the India model. That listing is not a promise that every handset, region, or future software build will show exactly the same version.

Why this check prevents confusion
A wallpaper path shown for ColorOS 16 can be wrong on a phone still using ColorOS 14, even though both devices are F-series handsets. Likewise, a Theme Store icon may be present in one market and absent in another. The installed build, not a screenshot from a different phone, is the useful reference. If an update changes the version later, repeat the check before using an older set of directions.
Write down the model identifier as well as the version if you are buying an accessory or asking for support. “F35” alone may not identify the same regional hardware, while CPH2931 is the identifier listed for the India-market F35 5G in OPPO’s specifications.
Finish the first-time setup
OPPO’s general new-phone guidance says that initial setup can vary by model and software version. Therefore, treat the following as a map of the decisions you may see, not as a guaranteed F35-specific screen sequence.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Power on and select language. Choose the language you want to use for ColorOS. If a region prompt appears, select the country or region that matches your use and mobile service.
- Connect to the internet. Join a trusted Wi-Fi network when possible, or continue with mobile data if your plan allows it. A connection helps the phone activate services and check for updates.
- Read the displayed terms and privacy choices. Review each permission or optional service. Accept only what you are comfortable enabling; do not assume every optional service is required to use the handset.
- Sign in to accounts you use. The setup flow may offer account sign-in or the option to add an account later. Follow the choices shown on your phone rather than treating sign-in as an OPPO requirement.
- Choose security options. If the handset offers a screen lock or biometric enrollment, decide whether to configure it now or later. Record any passcode in a secure place.
- Review transfer or restore choices. If the setup screen offers data transfer or backup restoration, check the source phone and the categories selected before starting. Large transfers can take time and may require both devices to remain charged.
- Let setup finish. Keep the phone connected until the home screen appears. Some permissions, updates, or app installations can be completed after setup from their respective settings.
Because OPPO does not publish a complete, F35-specific first-boot script in its support material, a missing screen or a different order is normal. Use the on-screen Back, Skip, or Continue controls and return to Settings after reaching the home screen.
Choices worth reviewing instead of rushing past
- Region: Regional selection can influence which services and features are offered. Choose accurately rather than selecting a different country to chase a feature.
- Network: Wi-Fi is generally preferable for a large transfer or software download, but the phone may let you continue on mobile data.
- Privacy: Read the purpose of each optional permission. You can often revisit app or service permissions later from Settings.
- Accounts: If you skip sign-in, note where the setup screen says an account can be added later. Do not interpret an optional prompt as a requirement to use basic phone functions.
- Data migration: Confirm which categories are selected before copying. If the process is interrupted, let the phone complete its remaining prompts before attempting another transfer.
Use the correct wallpaper menu
Wallpaper controls are version-dependent. The table gives the paths documented by OPPO; the final labels on your F35 can still differ after an OTA update or because of a regional build.
| ColorOS version | Wallpaper path documented by OPPO | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| ColorOS 16 and later | Settings > Home screen, Lock screen & style > Wallpapers | Choose a built-in or available image, then select the screen(s) where it should appear. |
| ColorOS 15 | Settings > Wallpapers & style > Wallpapers | The exact preview and apply buttons depend on the installed build. |
| ColorOS 13–14 | Settings > Wallpapers & style > Wallpapers | Use the wallpaper category shown in the personalization screen. |
| ColorOS 11–12 | Settings > Personalizations > Wallpapers | Older builds place wallpaper controls under Personalizations. |
Apply a built-in or downloaded wallpaper
- Open the path matching your ColorOS version.
- Browse the available categories or select an image source offered by the phone.
- Tap a preview to see how it frames on the display. Crop or reposition it if the build provides those controls.
- Choose whether to apply it to the lock screen, home screen, or both. The available destinations can vary by version.
- Confirm the apply action and return to the home screen or lock screen to check the result.
Use the preview as a decision point rather than assuming the original photo will remain uncropped. A portrait image may need repositioning for the home screen, while a wide image may frame differently on the lock screen. If the preview offers separate destinations, apply the image to one screen first and verify it before replacing both.
Set a photo from Photos
On versions that expose the option, open a picture in the Photos app, tap the three-dot menu, choose Set as wallpaper, and select the lock screen, home screen, or both. If that command is absent, use the Settings route for your version instead. Images with a different aspect ratio may be cropped, so inspect the preview before confirming.

Install and use a theme
A ColorOS theme changes the interface’s general appearance, such as colors and icon styling. It is a visual choice, not a hardware or performance upgrade.
Open the theme controls
OPPO’s support guide places theme controls under Settings > Personalizations or Settings > Wallpapers & style > My Themes on ColorOS 11 through newer generations. Your build may instead direct you to the Theme Store app. Search the Settings screen for “theme” if neither wording is visible.
- Open My Themes or launch Theme Store.
- Preview a theme and inspect what it changes before applying it.
- Choose Download, Try, or the equivalent action shown for that theme.
- If the store presents a purchase, verify the price and account before confirming. Store inventory, trials, and paid options are not identical in every market.
- Tap Apply when the download is complete. Return to My Themes to switch back or select another saved theme.
Theme Store availability and menu names can change with ColorOS updates. A theme may alter the visual treatment of icons and colors without changing the underlying capabilities of the F35.

Check the cost and what you are accepting
The store can present free downloads, trials, or paid themes. “Try” is not the same as a permanent free download, so read the displayed terms and price before confirming. Inventory and pricing are market-specific; do not assume a theme seen in an online video is available on your handset. If the store asks you to confirm an account or payment method, stop and verify the details rather than tapping through an unfamiliar purchase flow.
Preview readability as well as appearance. If a theme reduces icon contrast or makes text difficult to read, switch back through My Themes. There is no need to install an unofficial launcher or customization package simply to obtain a different color treatment.
Personalize only the controls your build actually provides
The F35 product material advertises ColorOS features, but OPPO qualifies feature availability by region, device configuration, software version, network conditions, and the timing of an OTA rollout. Some features may not be present when a phone first ships. Use the controls displayed on your own handset as the authoritative list.
- When a feature is shown in a product description but not in Settings, check for an available official update first.
- Do not install an unofficial package merely to obtain a feature that is absent from your regional build.
- After changing a visual setting, test both the lock screen and home screen; some options apply to only one of them.
- If a theme changes icon contrast or text readability, switch to a simpler theme rather than reducing security or installing an unknown customization package.
Feature descriptions are not a guarantee of launch-day availability. A capability can depend on an OTA rollout or network condition even when the F35 product page mentions it. If a control is absent, record the installed ColorOS version and region before asking support; that information is more useful than the phone’s marketing name alone.
Check for an official ColorOS update

- Connect the F35 to a reliable Wi-Fi network and, ideally, charge the battery.
- Open Settings > About Device.
- Tap the top update card on the About Device page.
- Read the version, download size, and any displayed notes.
- Install only the update offered by the phone’s own updater. Keep the handset powered on until the process finishes and it restarts.
OPPO does not establish a universal update schedule or guarantee that a particular release will reach every region. If no update card appears, the current build may have no rollout available for your handset, the phone may be using a different menu label, or the device may need a network connection before it can check.
Update safely and verify afterward
Do not judge an update by its size alone. Read the notes shown on the phone, make sure the connection is stable, and avoid interrupting the restart. Once the F35 returns to the home screen, revisit About Phone or About Device to confirm the ColorOS version. Then recheck wallpaper, theme, and other personalization menus because an OTA can rename or relocate them.
An update offered to one region may not be offered to another at the same time. The absence of a card is not proof that the phone is permanently unsupported, and it is not a reason to sideload a file from an unverified website. Use the handset’s own updater or official OPPO support guidance.

Protect the hidden light sensor when fitting a screen protector
OPPO warns that a dark or low-transmission screen protector can cover the hidden light-sensor opening at the top of the display and affect normal operation. This is a compatibility issue, not a reason to avoid every protector.
- Confirm that the listing specifically fits the OPPO F35 5G CPH2931, rather than relying only on a similar-looking F-series name.
- Choose a protector with a clear, correctly positioned sensor area.
- After installation, check automatic brightness and other functions that rely on the light sensor.
- If those functions behave unexpectedly, remove or reposition the protector and test the phone before changing software settings.
Exact fit matters more than a generic “F-series” label. A protector can align over the display yet still cover the sensor opening if its cutout is misplaced or its material transmits too little light. Keep the top edge clean during installation and compare the cutout with the phone before pressing the protector down permanently.
The specification page lists a charger, USB data cable, SIM ejector tool, protective case, and Quick Guide as box contents, while warning that included accessories can vary by market. Treat those items as supplied-content information, not as purchases required for ColorOS customization. If a case or protector is missing from your box, confirm the market’s contents rather than assuming the handset is incomplete.
Troubleshoot common setup and customization problems
The wallpaper path is missing
Recheck the ColorOS version under About Phone or About Device, then use the corresponding row in the wallpaper table. On some builds, searching Settings for “wallpaper” or opening Photos and using the three-dot menu reaches the same function. If neither route appears, the software may use a different regional label; do not install a third-party system tool to force the change.
The photo is zoomed or cropped
Return to the preview before applying it and reposition the image if the build allows. A photo whose proportions differ from the phone’s display will not necessarily fit edge to edge. Selecting a different image or applying it to only one screen can produce a better result.

A theme will not download
Check the internet connection, available storage, and the account or payment prompt shown by Theme Store. Free, trial, and paid entries can have different requirements. If the store itself is absent, use the My Themes route available in Settings; availability is version- and region-dependent.
A theme changed the look but not a function
That is expected. Themes adjust the interface’s visual treatment, including colors and icons; they do not add hardware capabilities or guarantee access to an advertised ColorOS feature. Use the relevant Settings control for a function, and verify that the control exists on your installed build.
The update card is not visible
Use Settings > About Device and look for the top card, as documented for ColorOS 12 and later. If your phone uses About Phone or another label, use Settings search for “update.” Connect to Wi-Fi and retry. Do not sideload an update from an unverified source.
The phone was interrupted during first-run setup
Reconnect to power, unlock the phone, and follow the prompts that remain. If setup asks for a network, connect before continuing. Avoid wiping the handset unless the on-screen recovery guidance or official support specifically directs it, because a reset erases locally stored data.
Automatic brightness changed after installing a protector
Inspect the top sensor area for dark adhesive, tint, or misalignment. Test with the protector removed if necessary. If the sensor works normally without it, replace the accessory with an exact-fit model that leaves the opening unobstructed.
A menu changed after an OTA
Return to About Phone or About Device and record the new version. Search Settings for “wallpaper,” “theme,” or “update” when an older path no longer works. Use the new labels shown by the phone instead of trying to recreate an obsolete menu with an unofficial tool.

- Record the model and installed ColorOS version.
- Complete language, network, account, privacy, and security prompts.
- Check the About Device page for an official update before doing extensive customization.
- Set wallpaper using the version-specific path and verify both screens.
- Apply a theme only after reviewing its preview and any store terms.
- Fit a protector only after confirming CPH2931 compatibility and sensor clearance.
- Revisit Settings after major OTAs, because menu names and feature availability can change.
