RTX Spark is a Windows-on-Arm platform: a Blackwell RTX GPU and an Arm-based Grace CPU share unified memory in one system-on-chip. The platform is available in laptops and compact desktops, but the ports, firmware package, recovery process and first-boot screens are determined by the specific OEM model.
NVIDIA lists configurations with up to 6,144 GPU cores, 20 CPU cores and 128 GB of unified LPDDR5X memory. A lower configuration has 5,120 GPU cores and 18 CPU cores; memory capacity, power limits and cooling depend on the finished system. NVIDIA announced availability beginning October 16, 2026.

What RTX Spark is and what Windows 11 changes
RTX Spark is not a conventional x86 laptop with a separate graphics card. Its Blackwell RTX graphics processor and Arm-based Grace processor use a shared unified-memory pool, connected through NVIDIA’s NVLink-C2C chip-to-chip interconnect. That design is intended for local AI, creative software and games while running Windows 11 on Arm.

Because this is Windows on Arm, compatibility depends on whether an application is native Arm64, uses Arm64EC components, or relies on x64 emulation. A program that launches may still have a non-working plug-in, anti-cheat module, hardware driver or acceleration path. Treat compatibility as an application-and-dependency question rather than assuming that every existing Windows program behaves identically.
Confirm the exact computer before powering it on
Record the model number, product code and region printed on the laptop or compact desktop and its packaging. RTX Spark is a platform used by multiple manufacturers, so there is no universal RTX Spark BIOS file, recovery image or driver version. The manufacturer’s support page for that exact model is the authority for firmware, chipset, power-management, networking, audio and display packages.
- Keep the supplied power adapter available. A third-party adapter may not provide the model’s required wattage or charging behavior.
- For a compact desktop, have a monitor, keyboard and mouse ready. HDMI and DisplayPort are supported across the platform, but the actual connectors and included adapters are model dependent.
- For a laptop, the built-in panel and keyboard are normally sufficient for first boot; an HDMI cable or other external-monitor cable is optional unless you need a second screen.
- Use a stable internet connection. Windows activation, account setup, updates and OEM software may all require network access.
- Back up any data on a system that has already been used. Do not assume that a future recovery operation will preserve files.
Initial Windows 11 setup
- Connect power and peripherals. Attach the laptop’s supplied adapter. On a compact desktop, connect the display through the available HDMI or DisplayPort output, then attach the keyboard and mouse before pressing the power button.
- Start the computer and follow the OEM’s Windows screens. Select region and keyboard layout, connect to Wi-Fi or Ethernet, sign in with the requested account, review privacy choices and complete any license prompts. The exact sequence is not universal because manufacturers can customize the Windows image.
- Allow every first-run reboot. Keep the adapter connected and do not hold the power button while Windows or the OEM image is installing. NVIDIA’s first-boot guidance warns that interrupting installation can damage the system.
- Run Windows Update. Open Settings > Windows Update, select Check for updates, install the offered updates, restart when asked and repeat the check until no further mandatory updates remain. Optional driver updates should be compared with the OEM package rather than installed indiscriminately.
- Confirm the desktop is stable. Check that the display, Wi-Fi or Ethernet, keyboard, touchpad, speakers and sleep/wake behavior work before adding applications. If a device is missing, use the model’s support page instead of downloading a generic package.
Install firmware and drivers in the OEM-supported order
NVIDIA states that notebook manufacturers provide certified drivers for their specific models. That guidance also matters for compact desktops because firmware, thermal controls, power profiles and port routing are integrated into the OEM design. Install the packages listed for your exact Windows 11 on Arm64 model, in the order the manufacturer specifies.

Recommended driver sequence
- Apply the OEM BIOS or firmware update, if the support page recommends one for a new system. Keep the computer on AC power and do not interrupt the flash process.
- Install platform, chipset or system-controller packages supplied for that model.
- Install networking, Bluetooth, audio, storage-controller and input-device drivers as applicable.
- Install the OEM display and graphics package. A laptop’s panel switching, brightness controls, external outputs and sleep behavior can depend on this package.
- Restart whenever the installer requests it. After reboot, open Device Manager and check for warning icons under Display adapters, System devices and the relevant peripheral categories.
Do not substitute a driver merely because its name contains “RTX Spark.” The absence of a single universal package is expected. The correct release is the one certified for your model, Windows 11 edition and Arm64 image.
When to use NVIDIA App, Game Ready and Studio packages
The RTX Spark product information lists NVIDIA App, Game Ready Drivers and Studio Drivers as supported technologies. Install or update the NVIDIA App if the OEM image does not already contain it, but use NVIDIA’s package only when the model’s support instructions and the package’s compatibility notes allow it.
| Package choice | Use it when | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| OEM-certified graphics driver | Always the first choice after Windows setup | Exact model, Windows 11 on Arm64 support and OEM release notes |
| Game Ready Driver | Gaming is the priority and the model is supported | Game launch requirements, anti-cheat and the OEM’s validated version |
| Studio Driver | Supported creative applications and predictable content-production updates matter most | Application, plug-in and model support; OEM approval |
| NVIDIA App | You want NVIDIA settings, driver notifications or supported optimization features | That the installed driver and Windows-on-Arm build are compatible |
If installing a generic NVIDIA package replaces an OEM feature such as a performance mode, display switch or fan profile, roll back through Device Manager > Display adapters > your GPU > Properties > Driver, or reinstall the certified package from the manufacturer’s support page. Do not mix packages repeatedly while troubleshooting; establish a known-good OEM driver first.

Install applications with Arm64 compatibility in mind
Prefer native Arm64 builds. They normally have the clearest path to full performance, lower translation overhead and reliable access to Windows-on-Arm system interfaces. When a publisher offers Arm64EC components, those can allow Arm-native and x64 components to work together, but the entire dependency chain still matters.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteUse this compatibility checklist for every important program
- Check the publisher’s system requirements for Windows on Arm, Arm64 or Arm64EC, not only “Windows 11.”
- Verify that installers, update services, licensing tools and plug-ins support the same architecture as the main application.
- Test hardware acceleration, video codecs, CUDA or other GPU features with a representative project.
- Check peripherals: scanners, audio interfaces, capture cards, security keys and specialist instruments may require Arm64 drivers that do not exist yet.
- For games, verify anti-cheat and launcher support separately. A game can run under x64 emulation while its anti-cheat driver is incompatible.
- Install updates before judging performance, then validate export, sleep/wake, multi-monitor and file-association behavior.
NVIDIA’s Windows-on-Arm developer guidance recommends reviewing dependencies and validating installation, updates, functionality and performance before deploying a critical workflow. For business or production use, test the complete project on the RTX Spark machine rather than relying on an installer completing successfully.
Set up local AI tools
RTX Spark is designed for local AI workloads, and its unified memory can be useful for models that would not fit comfortably in a smaller discrete-GPU configuration. NVIDIA’s PAIR documentation provides a native Windows ARM64 installer and describes first-run setup for engines such as llama.cpp, Ollama and LM Studio.

- Install the native Windows ARM64 build when the tool offers one.
- Choose only the engine and model sizes needed for the intended task; large models consume shared system memory that Windows and other applications also need.
- Complete the engine’s first-run configuration and allow it to download model files over a reliable connection.
- Open the tool’s diagnostics or settings and confirm that it reports the NVIDIA accelerator rather than silently falling back to the CPU.
- Run a small test prompt or inference, then monitor memory use and thermals before loading a larger model or running a long job.
Do not infer AI performance from the platform’s maximum FP4 figure alone. Actual throughput depends on model quantization, context length, software backend, memory pressure and the laptop or desktop’s power and cooling limits.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing between RTX Spark laptops and compact desktops
If more than one RTX Spark system is available, compare the finished systems rather than only the Spark name. NVIDIA lists both the higher 6,144-GPU-core/20-CPU-core configuration and a lower 5,120-GPU-core/18-CPU-core configuration; memory capacity and power vary by implementation.

| Decision area | Laptop questions | Compact-desktop questions |
|---|---|---|
| Performance limits | How do battery, charger wattage and cooling affect sustained loads? | What power adapter, fan profile and sustained thermal limit are specified? |
| Display and ports | Is the built-in panel sufficient, and which connector drives an external monitor? | Are HDMI and DisplayPort outputs present, and is an adapter or cable required? |
| Memory and storage | Is unified memory fixed, and can the SSD be replaced? | Are storage devices or other components serviceable? |
| Mobility | What are the weight, battery and charging requirements? | Can it remain connected to AC and a monitor at the intended location? |

| Generic NVIDIA driver breaks OEM features | The package is not validated for that model | Reinstall the OEM-certified package, restart and test display switching, sleep, brightness and performance modes before trying another package. |
What is not universal across RTX Spark systems
There is no single RTX Spark-wide Windows recovery image, BIOS procedure or driver version documented for every laptop and compact desktop. Exact game and application compatibility also varies with Arm64 support, emulation, anti-cheat, plug-ins and device drivers. Those details must be verified on the support page for the particular computer and with the software publisher.
The safest deployment sequence is therefore model-specific: preserve the OEM image, install its certified firmware and drivers, then add NVIDIA software and applications one at a time while testing the workloads that matter to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does every RTX Spark computer include 128 GB of memory?
