Which Insta360 Flow model and magnetic clamp do you have?
Start with the model printed on the gimbal or its packaging: Insta360 Flow, Flow Pro, Flow 2, or Flow 2 Pro. These products use two generations of magnetic phone clamps. The official accessory compatibility table marks the Flow/Flow Pro clamp as unsupported on Flow 2 and Flow 2 Pro, and marks the Flow 2/Flow 2 Pro clamp as unsupported on Flow and Flow Pro.

| Gimbal generation | Matching clamp generation | Cross-generation status |
|---|---|---|
| Flow or Flow Pro | Flow/Flow Pro magnetic phone clamp | Not supported on Flow 2 or Flow 2 Pro |
| Flow 2 or Flow 2 Pro | Flow 2/Flow 2 Pro magnetic phone clamp | Not supported on Flow or Flow Pro |
Check this table before buying a spare, replacement, or “extra” clamp. A clamp that looks physically similar can still be the wrong generation for the magnetic surface or alignment features on your gimbal. Convenience, price, and availability matter only after the generation is confirmed.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Will your phone fit the clamp securely?
Insta360’s general Flow-series guidance recommends a handset within these ranges:
| Phone measurement | Recommended range | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Thickness | 6.9–10 mm | Allows the clamp to grip the phone without an insecure fit |
| Width | 64–84 mm | Keeps both clamp arms within their intended travel |
| Weight | 130–300 g | Keeps the mounted load within the stated guidance |
Measure the phone with the case, lens cover, ring, or other accessory installed if you plan to leave that item on during use. A handset outside these limits may not be clamped securely and could fall. Remove a bulky case if it prevents the jaws from closing evenly, but do not assume that removing it makes an otherwise oversized or heavy phone suitable.
Dimensions are only the first check. Use Insta360’s current phone compatibility list for the exact handset to see whether features such as camera control, zoom, gesture control, or tracking are supported. The models shown on that list are tested examples, not a guarantee that every phone with similar specifications supports the same controls.
What does “balance” mean on an Insta360 Flow?
For the setup covered by the official Flow installation instructions, balance is a clamp-positioning task:

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
- The phone sits in the middle of the clamp horizontally.
- The phone also sits in the middle vertically.
- The clamp extends evenly on both sides.
- The phone’s camera direction matches the camera icon printed on the clamp.
The instructions then show the clamp being aligned to the gimbal’s magnetic mount. They do not provide a separate manual procedure in which you slide the phone relative to the gimbal’s tilt, roll, or pan motor axes. Do not invent a motor-balancing routine from instructions for a different gimbal. If a future manual for your exact model adds a mechanical adjustment, follow that model-specific documentation instead.
How do I center my phone on the Insta360 Flow clamp?
Use this sequence before the clamp touches the gimbal:
- Open the clamp. Extend the magnetic phone clamp far enough to accept the handset without forcing the jaws.
- Place the phone stably. Set the phone into the clamp so it is supported while you make the final adjustments. Keep fingers clear of the closing edges.
- Center it left to right. Move the phone until the clamp has an even amount of extension on both sides. Neither jaw should be near the end of its travel while the other has substantial space.
- Center it top to bottom. Adjust the phone vertically so the clamp sits around the middle of the handset rather than at the very top or bottom.
- Check the camera direction. Rotate the handset in the clamp as needed so its camera side agrees with the camera icon on the clamp. This orientation is part of the installation guidance; do not use a visually centered but reversed position.
- Test the grip. With the phone still off the gimbal, gently try to move it. The clamp should hold it without rocking, slipping, or requiring you to keep pressure on the jaws.
Centering is about the phone’s position inside the clamp, not about making the phone’s camera lens line up with the gimbal’s handle. The clamp’s marked orientation and even jaw extension are the practical checks you can perform before mounting.

How do I attach the clamp to the gimbal?
Attach the clamp to the phone first. Mounting an empty clamp and then trying to insert the phone can disturb alignment or put unnecessary force on the magnetic connection.

- Hold the phone and clamp as one unit after completing the fit check.
- Find the notch on the back of the clamp and the raised part on the gimbal’s magnetic surface.
- Bring the clamp to the gimbal so the notch meets the raised part. Do not rotate the clamp until the two features are aligned.
- Match the clamp’s groove to the gimbal’s red alignment dot.
- Press the clamp into place and confirm that it sits flat and secure. A clamp that is attached at an angle, only partly seated, or not aligned with the red dot is not ready for operation.
The notch, raised section, groove, and red dot are alignment aids, not optional decoration. If they do not line up, remove the clamp and start again rather than forcing the magnetic connection.
How do I unfold and turn on the Flow gimbal?
- Hold the handle firmly.
- Pull the arm outward to unfold the gimbal into its operating position.
- Watch the status indicator. Flow 2 Pro powers on automatically as it is unfolded; wait for its indicator light before operating it. Flow 2 documentation describes the same basic unfolding sequence, while indicator behavior can differ by model.
- For Flow or Flow Pro, use the exact power and indicator instructions supplied for that model if unfolding does not start the gimbal. Do not assume that every indicator color or startup sound has the same meaning across all four generations.
Keep the phone attached during unfolding only when you can support the combined weight securely. If the arm catches, stop and inspect the fold rather than applying extra force.
How do I connect my Flow gimbal to my phone?
Basic Flow-series pairing uses Bluetooth or the Insta360 app. Insta360’s Bluetooth guidance lists Bluetooth 5.0 or later, Android 7.0 or later, or iOS 11 or later on iPhone 8 or later for the supported Flow-series connection path.
- Turn on the gimbal and unlock the phone.
- Install or open the Insta360 app if you want app-based setup and camera controls.
- Grant the app the Bluetooth and other permissions it requests for device discovery and camera operation.
- Start pairing in the app, or open the phone’s Bluetooth settings and select the Flow device when it appears.
- Accept the pairing request and wait until the app reports that the gimbal is connected.
- Open the camera view and test the shutter, record, or other controls that your phone model supports.
Buttons and camera controls are phone-dependent. A successful Bluetooth connection does not mean every feature is available on every handset. If the gimbal connects but a button does nothing, check the exact phone compatibility entry and the app’s current permissions before assuming the hardware is defective.

Flow 2 Pro DockKit: a separate pairing requirement
Flow 2 Pro’s DockKit tracking is a model-specific feature, not a requirement for ordinary Bluetooth setup on every Flow gimbal. Insta360 specifies an iPhone 12 or later running iOS 17 or higher for this DockKit use case and also describes NFC pairing.
If you are setting up DockKit tracking, verify those iPhone and iOS requirements first, then follow the Flow 2 Pro pairing instructions for NFC or the supported app path. An older iPhone, an earlier iOS release, or an Android phone may still be able to use ordinary Flow 2 Pro controls where supported, but should not be treated as meeting the DockKit specification.

The phone slips in the clamp
- Remove the phone and check whether a case, ring, or raised camera protector prevents the jaws from closing evenly.
- Recheck the stated thickness, width, and weight ranges.
- Center the phone in both directions and make sure the clamp extends evenly on both sides.
- Inspect the clamp for dirt or damage. Do not rely on the gimbal’s motors to compensate for a phone that is not mechanically secure.
The clamp is attached but not aligned
- Detach it and locate the back notch and the gimbal’s raised feature.
- Realign the clamp groove with the red dot.
- Confirm that the clamp sits flat before moving the gimbal.
The gimbal will not connect
- Confirm that Bluetooth is enabled and that the phone meets the stated operating-system and Bluetooth baseline.
- Close the app, restart Bluetooth, and try pairing again from the app or phone settings.
- Remove an old Flow entry from the phone’s Bluetooth list if the handset is trying to reconnect to a different unit.
- Check whether your phone is supported for the particular control you are testing; basic pairing and full camera integration are not identical.
The gimbal does not start when unfolded
On Flow 2 Pro, wait for the indicator after pulling the arm outward. On other models, consult that model’s power sequence and indicator meanings. If the arm is not fully unfolded or the clamp is obstructing movement, power the unit down, remove the phone, and inspect the fold before trying again.

The phone appears centered but the footage tilts
Recheck the physical installation first: equal clamp extension, vertical centering, camera-icon orientation, and notch-to-raised-part alignment. Those are the positioning checks in the setup guidance. Do not add a manual motor-balancing adjustment that your model’s instructions do not describe.

Safety and operating cautions
Flow 2 Pro is not waterproof
Insta360 says Flow 2 Pro is not waterproof. Keep it away from rain, splashes, and situations where water can enter the handle or motor assembly. Drying a wet gimbal is not a substitute for preventing exposure.
Avoid high-impact activity
Insta360 advises against high-impact activity with Flow 2 Pro because drops can damage the phone, clamp, or gimbal. The magnetic attachment is designed for normal supported use, not impacts, abrupt collisions, or sports where the handle may be struck.
Keep the magnetic assembly away from sensitive products
Insta360’s hardware guidance advises keeping the clamp and gimbal away from magnet-sensitive items such as bank cards, pacemakers, RAM chips, and hard drives. Magnetic signals can also affect some Samsung MST implementations and wireless charging. Remove the phone clamp before using a feature that could be affected, and follow the medical-device maker’s safety guidance if a pacemaker or other implanted device is involved.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Use extra support with a long-extended selfie stick
Flow 2 Pro includes a built-in tripod. Insta360 recommends an external tripod through the handle’s 1/4-inch screw hole when the selfie stick remains extended for a long period. The built-in tripod is not a guarantee of stability in wind or on an unstable surface; choose a firm, level location and avoid leaving the setup where it can be knocked over.
Which replacement clamp should you buy?
For a replacement, compare the gimbal generation and exact accessory compatibility before considering any other factor.
| Your gimbal | Search description | Check before purchase |
|---|---|---|
| Flow or Flow Pro | Flow/Flow Pro magnetic phone clamp | The listing must explicitly support Flow or Flow Pro; it is not supported on Flow 2 or Flow 2 Pro |
| Flow 2 or Flow 2 Pro | Flow 2/Flow 2 Pro magnetic phone clamp | Confirm whether the seller’s listing covers your exact Flow 2 generation; it is not supported on Flow or Flow Pro |
A phrase such as “Insta360 Flow 2 Pro magnetic phone clamp” identifies the newer generation, but it does not make that accessory universal. Confirm whether your device is Flow 2 or Flow 2 Pro and check the current official compatibility table before ordering. Stock, prices, and availability are not established here and can change.
A complete setup checklist
- Identify the gimbal as Flow, Flow Pro, Flow 2, or Flow 2 Pro.
- Choose the clamp generation that the compatibility table supports for that model.
- Confirm the phone is within 6.9–10 mm thickness, 64–84 mm width, and 130–300 g weight guidance.
- Check the exact handset in the current compatibility list for desired camera features.
- Center the handset horizontally and vertically in the clamp.
- Make the clamp extend evenly on both sides and match the camera icon.
- Attach the clamp to the phone before mounting it to the gimbal.
- Align the clamp notch with the raised magnetic feature and its groove with the red dot.
- Unfold the arm, power on, and wait for the model-appropriate indicator.
- Pair through Bluetooth or the Insta360 app, then test the controls your phone supports.
- For Flow 2 Pro DockKit, use an iPhone 12 or later with iOS 17 or higher.
- Keep the setup away from water, high-impact activity, magnet-sensitive products, wind, and unstable surfaces.
Bottom line: center first, then mount and pair
The reliable Flow setup is mechanical before it is electronic: use the correct-generation clamp, center the phone in both directions, follow the camera-direction icon, and align the clamp’s notch and groove with the gimbal’s raised feature and red dot. Once the phone is secure, unfold and power on the gimbal, pair over Bluetooth or in the app, and treat phone-specific controls and Flow 2 Pro DockKit as separate compatibility questions.
