Keep each broadcast under 12 hours if you want YouTube to archive it reliably, keep a local recording, and confirm you have rights to every lesson asset. What you need before starting
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16. First-time live-streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guide and live-streaming eligibility requirements.
- Finished Spanish lesson recordings, arranged into a useful sequence. Check that the video files play correctly and have clear audio.
- An encoder capable of sending a prerecorded program to YouTube Live. YouTube’s encoder workflow provides a stream URL and stream key to connect the encoder.
- Permission to livestream and archive all material in the recordings, including music, images, clips, and other third-party content.
Set up the always-on stream with an encoder
1. Arrange the lesson program
Build a playlist that gives viewers a reason to stay: for example, group beginner lessons by topic or sequence pronunciation, vocabulary, and practice. Use recordings you own or are licensed to broadcast and archive. Rights clearance applies to both the live stream and its saved replay; YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions require the necessary rights, including music rights.

2. Activate live streaming ahead of time
In YouTube Studio, follow the live-streaming activation flow for your channel. YouTube may take up to 24 hours to enable a first stream. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-stream restriction from the past 90 days before scheduling the launch.

- Open YouTube Studio → Create → Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, choose the Stream or Manage tab, then create a stream or schedule one.
- Set the title, description, audience information, and start time accurately. Scheduling gives you time to promote the program and lets viewers set reminders.
4. Connect your encoder
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, locate the stream URL and stream key.
- In your encoder, select YouTube if it is available. Otherwise, enter YouTube’s stream URL and key in the encoder’s streaming settings.
- Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Start sending the program from the encoder. Wait for YouTube’s incoming preview, check that the picture and sound are correct, then select Go live when ready.
YouTube’s encoder setup instructions are at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. The exact encoder controls vary by software; use the encoder’s own documentation for playlist and looping controls.

5. Keep the program running and monitor it
A local-computer setup depends on the computer, encoder, and network remaining available. Keep the machine powered, prevent sleep, and monitor the encoder and YouTube Live Control Room for interruptions. These are practical precautions, not a YouTube uptime guarantee.
Plan around YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not rely on one uninterrupted, day-long broadcast if you need a replay. Instead, schedule successive broadcasts that each end before the 12-hour threshold, and retain a local recording as a backup. Check the stream status and archive after each block. Protect monetization eligibility as well as copyright
Having permission to use every recording does not automatically make a channel eligible for monetization. YouTube’s monetization policies also apply to livestreams and address repetitive, mass-produced, or templated material that lacks meaningful educational value. A loop of interchangeable recordings can create risk even when the lessons are yours.

Make the channel’s instructional value and authorship apparent: organize lessons into a meaningful progression, include varied explanations and practice, and use accurate titles, descriptions, and channel information. YouTube says reviewers may consider the channel’s main theme, most-viewed and newest videos, share of watch time, metadata, and About section.
