It is not set up like an Echo Bluetooth speaker: install the Bee app, sign in, attach the puck, and press its button once to start capturing. Press the button again to stop, then open the app for a summary, memories, insights, reminders, and suggested follow-up actions. For calls or meetings, get the required permission from participants before recording.
What Amazon Bee Eclipse is
Bee Eclipse is the phone-mounted member of Amazon’s Bee personal-AI family. Amazon describes it as a slim, lightweight device about the size of a credit card that attaches magnetically to the back of a phone. The separate Bee Frontier is the wearable version, designed to clip to clothing or attach to a wristband.

Bee is intended to turn spoken conversations into information you can use later. Amazon says it can remember what matters from conversations and produce summaries, recaps, insights, reminders, and to-dos. When supported services are connected, it can also draft follow-up emails and create calendar invitations from action items discussed in a conversation.
The practical workflow is deliberately short: mount the puck, press once to capture, press again to stop, and review the result in the Bee mobile app. The announcement does not describe a screen-by-screen onboarding wizard or an Echo-style Bluetooth pairing process, so do not look for Bee Eclipse under the Alexa app’s Echo setup menu.

What you need before starting
- A compatible phone with the Bee mobile app. Install the app or update it to the latest version available to you.
- The Bee account you intend to use. Sign in with that account before you begin capturing conversations.
- An internet connection. Keep the phone online while completing setup and the first test capture.
- A suitable phone surface. Bee Eclipse is documented to attach magnetically to the back of the phone. A case or accessory that blocks the magnetic connection may prevent a secure mount.
- Permission for other people when recording. For a phone call or meeting, tell participants that recording is starting and obtain the permission required for your situation. Recording rules differ by location and circumstance.
Charge the puck if necessary before a long meeting. Amazon’s launch information gives Bee Eclipse a battery life of more than 21 days, but actual endurance depends on use and charging conditions; the figure is not a promise that every user will get the same runtime.
How to connect Bee Eclipse to your phone
- Install or update Bee. Open your phone’s app store, install the Bee mobile app, or update it if it is already installed. Launch the app.
- Sign in. Use the Amazon account associated with Bee. Complete any account or permission prompts shown by the app.
- Keep the phone connected to the internet. The documented setup workflow assumes an online phone while you finish configuration and test the device.
- Attach the puck. Place Bee Eclipse against the back of the phone so its magnetic attachment holds it in place. This physical magnetic connection is Amazon’s documented method for connecting Eclipse to the phone.
- Start a capture. Press the puck’s single control button once. The indicator light shows that Bee is active and capturing or processing the conversation. Amazon’s earlier Bee overview describes a green LED when recording is active.
- Stop the capture. Press the same button again when the conversation ends. The light should no longer indicate an active recording.
- Open the Bee app. After processing, review the conversation summary, recap, memories, insights, reminders, and any suggested to-dos in the app.
There is no documented step that asks you to select Bee Eclipse from a Bluetooth-speaker list. The magnetic attachment and the puck’s button are the connection and recording controls described by Amazon. The Alexa app path of Devices > Add Device > Amazon Echo applies to Echo hardware, not Bee Eclipse.
How the button and light work
Starting a conversation capture
Press the single control button once before you begin speaking or as the conversation starts. The visible indicator confirms that Bee is on and capturing or summarizing. In Amazon’s product overview, a green LED indicates that recording is active.

Press the button a second time when you are done. Treat the change in the indicator as your confirmation that capture has stopped. If you are in a meeting, say clearly that recording has ended so participants are not left guessing about whether the puck is still active.

Using a short test first
Before relying on Bee Eclipse for an important interview or meeting, run a brief test. Attach the device, press once, speak a few sentences, press again, and then check the app for a processed result. This confirms that the app account, internet connection, magnetic mount, button, indicator, and review workflow are all working together.
Using Bee Eclipse during phone calls and meetings
Bee can be used around conversations that happen on your phone, including calls, but recording another person requires more than pressing the button. Amazon says users are prompted to obtain permission from call participants each time a recording starts. Follow that prompt and any additional consent requirements that apply where you and the other participants are located.
- Explain the recording. Tell the other participants that Bee is being used to capture and summarize the conversation.
- Obtain the required permission. Do not start until the participants have agreed in the manner required for your call or meeting.
- Start Bee. Press the button once and verify the active indicator.
- Conduct the call or meeting. Keep the phone and attached puck together. If you move to another device or leave the phone behind, the documented phone-mounted workflow may no longer apply.
- Stop and verify. Press the button again at the end, then check that the indicator no longer shows an active capture.
- Review the result. Open the Bee app after processing to inspect the summary and action items. Correct names, dates, or commitments before sharing them.
Amazon’s announcement does not state that every phone call is automatically routed through Bee or that the puck replaces the phone’s call-recording controls. The supported, documented behavior is to attach Eclipse to the phone, control capture with its button, and review the processed conversation in the Bee app.

Think of these outputs as working notes rather than an unquestionable record. Review the text for names, dates, quantities, and assigned responsibilities before you send an email, create an invitation, or rely on a reminder.
Connecting services inside the Bee app
Amazon says Bee can connect with Gmail, Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Apple HealthKit, photos, Alexa+, and Amazon.com when those integrations are enabled. Availability and feature access can depend on the Bee plan; some integrations require Bee Pro.
- Open the Bee mobile app and sign in to the account used for Bee.
- Find the integrations or connected-services area in the app.
- Select the service you want to connect, such as a calendar or email account.
- Read the permission request and authorize only the access you are comfortable granting.
- Return to Bee and confirm that the service is shown as connected.
- Run a small test, such as discussing a follow-up date, then check whether Bee presents the expected draft or calendar action.
The exact labels and screen order can change as the app is updated. If a service is not listed, do not assume the puck is defective; the integration may require Bee Pro, may not be enabled for your account, or may not be available in your region.
Privacy, storage, and consent
What Amazon says about audio
Amazon says audio is processed in real time and deleted after processing, and that no audio is stored. Transcripts are encrypted with keys controlled by the customer’s device. Amazon also says users can delete transcripts and summaries.

What you can control
- Use the physical button to start and stop capture.
- Watch the indicator light so you know when Bee is active.
- Delete transcripts and summaries from the Bee experience when you no longer want them.
- Disconnect optional services that you do not need.
What privacy claims do not decide

The safest workflow is to disclose the recording and obtain permission before pressing the button whenever another person’s voice will be captured.

Bee Pro adds unlimited recent summaries, Alexa+ and Amazon.com integrations, third-party integrations, suggested to-dos, daily memories, personal chat, templates, and the desktop app. The launch information does not say that every listed feature is available in every country or account, so confirm the offer shown during checkout and in your app.

Choose Eclipse if your conversations and calls already happen around one phone and you want the puck physically attached to it. Choose Frontier if leaving a phone-mounted accessory behind would be inconvenient and a wristband or clothing clip better matches your routine. The battery figures are Amazon’s stated claims, not a guarantee of identical runtime under every recording pattern.
Troubleshooting the phone connection
The puck does not stay on the phone
- Remove a thick, misaligned, or non-magnetic case and try again.
- Place Eclipse flat against the back of the phone rather than at an angle.
- Check that the attachment is secure before starting a conversation.
The app cannot finish setup
- Confirm that the phone is connected to the internet.
- Update the Bee app and reopen it.
- Verify that you signed in with the account intended for Bee.
- Repeat the short test capture after setup completes.
The indicator does not show an active capture
- Press the button once and look for the active indicator before speaking.
- If nothing changes, make sure the device has charge and is firmly attached.
- Do not assume recording has started until the indicator provides confirmation.
No summary appears after stopping
- Confirm that you pressed the button a second time to end capture.
- Keep the phone online while Bee processes the conversation.
- Reopen the Bee app and check the conversation history.
- If the result is still missing, run a short test capture to determine whether the problem is limited to one session.
An integration or action is missing
- Check whether the service is connected in Bee’s integrations area.
- Confirm whether the feature requires Bee Pro.
- Review the permissions granted to the connected service.
- Remember that a connected service may be unavailable for your region or account even when it is listed in Amazon’s general product description.
A reliable everyday workflow
For repeatable results, use the same sequence each time: attach the puck before the conversation, announce the recording and obtain permission, press once, verify the indicator, keep the phone nearby, press again at the end, and review the processed result in the app. Rename or organize important summaries if the app provides those controls, and delete transcripts or summaries you no longer need.
When a conversation produces a deadline or assignment, check the extracted action against the original discussion before sending a follow-up. If you have connected email or calendar services, treat any drafted message or invitation as a starting point that still needs your review.
Bottom line
Amazon Bee Eclipse connects to your phone through its magnetic attachment and Bee mobile app, not through the Echo Bluetooth-speaker setup path. Install and sign in to Bee, attach Eclipse, press once to capture, press again to stop, and review the resulting summary and tasks in the app. Use the light as your recording signal, obtain participant permission for calls and meetings, and verify the live listing because Amazon currently describes Eclipse as available soon.
