Set that alert comfortably before the health factor reaches 1, then monitor borrowing rates separately unless your chosen service explicitly supports borrow-rate alerts. A ratio notification is an early-warning signal—not a guarantee against liquidation or proof that every rate change is being tracked.
What an Aave health factor alert tells you
Aave defines health factor as (Total Collateral Value × Weighted Average Liquidation Threshold) ÷ Total Borrow Value. It reflects how a position’s collateral and debt compare under the liquidation thresholds for its collateral. Aave says a health factor below 1 makes the position eligible for liquidation. The factor can fall if collateral value declines or debt grows. Aave does not identify one health factor that is universally safe: asset volatility and correlations differ. Choose an early-warning threshold above 1 that gives you time to assess the position and act; treat it as a personal buffer, not a safety guarantee.

Set up a ratio alert in DeFi Saver Notify

- Choose the colors that match your style: express your personality and your crypto management mood, color code your signers, one for each use (trading, staking, HOLDing...).
- Open the Aave v3 dashboard in DeFi Saver.
- Select the correct position, whether it is held in an Account or a Smart Wallet.
- Open the Notify tab.
- Configure a Ratio Monitor for a threshold crossing. The documented monitor can notify you when the ratio moves below or above a chosen value; you can create multiple monitors.
- Open Manage channels and select your delivery options. The help article lists in-app notifications, Telegram, email, and Blockscan chat.
Set a threshold that gives you room to respond to market volatility, network congestion, or a missed notification. Where available, use more than one delivery channel and confirm that each is active. Revisit the settings after changing collateral or debt.
Rate alerts and liquidation-risk alerts are different
Variable borrowing rates can change with utilization and governance decisions; higher utilization leads to higher rates. Interest accrual increases a borrower’s debt and can reduce the health factor even if collateral prices stay flat. That makes borrowing-cost monitoring useful, but it is not the same as watching a position ratio.

DeFi Saver’s published materials describe ratio monitoring and an Aave v3 supply-cap increase monitor. Its August 2026 newsletter also describes safety-ratio and supply/borrow-cap alerts through Telegram. Those examples do not establish a dedicated alert for each individual borrow APR change. Do not assume a ratio monitor will notify you whenever a borrow rate moves.

If you need a rate trigger, check whether the service explicitly supports the relevant market and asset, and whether it monitors the borrow APR rather than the supply APY. Confirm the chain and the rate threshold in the live product; feature availability can change.

What to check when choosing an alert method
Before depending on a notification service, verify the dimensions that matter for your position:
- Coverage: Does it support your protocol, chain, and specific market?
- Metric: Does it monitor your position’s ratio, token prices, supply rates, borrow rates, or some combination?
- Controls and timing: Can you set your own threshold, and what does the service say about trigger and delivery timing?
- Delivery: Which channels are available, and can you enable more than one?
- Access and actions: Does setup require connecting a wallet, and does the feature only notify you or also support transaction execution?
The documented DeFi Saver features establish ratio and selected cap alerts, but do not establish a complete current protocol-and-chain coverage matrix or every rate-monitoring capability. Check the live app for your exact position and market.

Use alerts as prompts to inspect your position
Notifications can be delayed or unavailable, and a position can change quickly. When an alert arrives, inspect the position and current market conditions rather than treating the message as liquidation protection. Recheck your thresholds and the alert coverage after collateral, debt, or network changes; Aave risk parameters can be governed, and rates respond to utilization.
