To get a YouTube Official Artist Channel (OAC), make sure your artist channel meets YouTube’s requirements, then ask your label or distributor to submit the request. If you do not have one, contact a Music Service Partner listed in YouTube’s Services Directory. YouTube does not promise a set approval timeline or approval just because you believe you qualify.
Check whether your channel qualifies
YouTube lists several core requirements for an Official Artist Channel. Your channel must:

- Be owned and operated by you or your band and focused on one artist or band’s music.
- Have at least one official music release delivered to YouTube by a label or music distributor.
- Comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Copyright policies.
- Have at least one qualifying relationship: a YouTube Partner Manager, membership in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), a label network that works with a Partner Manager, or music distributed by a partner listed in YouTube’s Services Directory for Music Partners.
YPP is one possible partner route, not a universal requirement. It has separate eligibility rules and an application process. YouTube also recommends uploading at least one public video to the artist channel before requesting an OAC. A request from a channel with no public videos may be rejected or require extra verification; the public video is a recommendation, not one of the listed core criteria. - Confirm your artist channel. It should represent one artist or band, rather than a label, multi-artist project, or unrelated content channel.
- Confirm your release is on YouTube. A label or distributor must have delivered at least one official music release to YouTube. Uploading a video yourself is not a substitute for this release requirement.
- Check policy compliance. Review the channel and its content against YouTube’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Copyright policies.
- Add a public video if needed. YouTube recommends having at least one public video on the artist channel before the request. This may help avoid rejection or additional verification if the channel is otherwise empty.
- Ask your label or distributor to request the OAC. This is the normal route. YouTube’s guidance says: “Please contact your label or distributor to request an Official Artist Channel.”
- If you have no label or distributor, contact a Music Service Partner. Find a partner in YouTube’s Services Directory and confirm that it handles music distribution and can request an OAC on your behalf.

Know what channel consolidation does—and does not do
An OAC brings together subscribers from your artist channel and YouTube-generated topic channel, and from a Vevo channel when applicable. After consolidation, the subscribe button and subscriber count no longer appear on the existing and topic channels; subscribers can find new music videos through the OAC.
This is a specific OAC feature, not a general channel-merge tool. YouTube says its general channel-migration process cannot merge or link separate channels. An artist may have a self-managed channel, a partner-provided channel, a YouTube-generated “Artist Name – Topic” channel, and an OAC; those channel types are not interchangeable. Set up the channel identity and check the music sections
Choose a consistent artist name
YouTube recommends using the artist or band name, ideally matching the name on the newest release. Use the appropriate capitalization and spacing, and avoid adding generic terms such as “Official,” “TV,” “Channel,” “YouTube,” or “Productions.” YouTube Help: Introduction to Official Artist Channels
Review Releases and music videos
The Releases section is generated automatically. It generally puts the most recent release first, followed by full-length albums, EPs, and singles ordered from newest to oldest. It shows releases where the artist is listed as a primary artist; karaoke releases do not appear. The OAC can also display music-video content and a selected featured video. If a release is missing or incorrect, YouTube directs artists to submit feedback. For Vevo channel merge requests, use YouTube’s contact form; direct Vevo content issues to Vevo. Use OAC features and keep the channel in good standing
OAC features documented by YouTube include consolidated subscribers, Analytics for Artists, ticketing, and merch. Analytics for Artists is available to people who own or manage an OAC; its views can include performance across the OAC, Vevo, or a label, as well as Art Track metrics. An OAC can be suspended and revert to a standard channel if it receives a Community Guidelines strike or has content with limited features. YouTube says the OAC is restored automatically once active strikes and limited-feature content are gone and the channel otherwise continues to meet program criteria.
