If you want yoga classes to repeat on your own screen overnight, turn on Loop in the YouTube playlist controls. If you want your channel to broadcast those classes as a YouTube Live event, set up a looping media source in an encoder such as OBS, connect it to YouTube Studio with your stream URL and key, and check the preview before going live. These are different workflows: viewer-side looping does not make your channel live.
Choose the right kind of “loop”

YouTube’s playlist loop instructions describe playback controls for viewers. A live broadcast instead needs a stream in YouTube Studio and an encoder feed, as described in YouTube’s encoder setup guide.

Loop a YouTube playlist for private overnight viewing
- Desktop: Open a yoga video that belongs to the playlist, expand the playlist panel beside the video, then select Loop.
- Mobile: Start playing the playlist and tap Loop in the playlist controls.
- TV or game console: Use the Repeat control in that platform’s playback controls.
The playlist repeats for playback on that device. It does not create a public live watch page or broadcast from your channel. Control placement can vary by device and app version, so look in the current playlist playback controls.

1. Confirm the channel can go live
YouTube’s documented eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until the night you plan to broadcast. Check YouTube’s live-streaming tips for current eligibility and setup guidance.

2. Create or schedule the live event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live to open Live Control Room and create a stream.
- To promote it in advance, use Manage → Schedule stream.
- Choose the event’s privacy setting: Public, Private, or Unlisted. A scheduled stream may appear as upcoming to subscribers, who can select Notify me.
Use YouTube’s live stream settings help for the current controls and event options.
3. Set up the repeating yoga videos in OBS
OBS can loop one local video or play a list of local files. Its Media Sources documentation describes these source options; the page is dated January 11, 2022, so check the controls against your installed OBS version.

- One class: Add a Media Source, select the video file, and enable Loop.
- Several classes: Add a VLC Video source, add the files in the desired order, enable Loop Playlist, and leave Shuffle Playlist off if the sequence matters. VLC must be installed for OBS’s VLC source.
Preview the scene and confirm that the source plays, its audio is audible if needed, and the playlist returns to the intended start after the final file.

4. Connect OBS to YouTube
- In Live Control Room, obtain the YouTube server URL and stream key for the event.
- Enter those details in OBS’s stream settings so it can send the audio and video feed to YouTube.
- Treat the stream key like a password. YouTube uses it to identify where the encoder should send the feed and to accept that feed; do not share it publicly.
5. Test the preview before starting
Start sending the feed from OBS and wait for the preview in Live Control Room. Check that the event is accessible from the intended channel or watch page and on mobile, and monitor both picture and sound. YouTube recommends trying a test live stream and checking the preview before going live; see its encoder tips.

6. Plan for the full overnight run
The source must keep playing and the encoder must keep sending data for the live feed to continue. That makes the computer, OBS, media files, and network part of the overnight setup. Test the actual machine and connection for the length and conditions you expect; a loop setting alone does not guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast.
Understand long-stream replay and DVR
There are two different YouTube limits to keep in mind. YouTube’s encoder guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, with the archive available in the Live tab in YouTube Studio. Separately, YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Do not assume a stream at exactly 12 hours is guaranteed to behave one way or the other. YouTube’s Help page explains: “The YouTube’s DVR feature lets your viewers pause, rewind, and continue during the live stream.” Viewers cannot seek to a point before the stream went live. Apple TV, Apple AirPlay, and older app versions may have lower DVR limits. If a live stream ends, the channel may also post highlights or a replay as videos; see Learn about live streams.
