First confirm your channel can livestream and that you have the rights to stream every cartoon and soundtrack. Test the PC, connection and playback setup before relying on it around the clock: YouTube does not guarantee that a stream longer than 12 hours will be archived in full.
Before you start: check channel access and content rights
Confirm the channel is eligible
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16. If this is the channel’s first time enabling livestreaming, activation may take up to 24 hours. Check access before scheduling a broadcast so the delay does not derail setup.
Clear every cartoon and soundtrack
You need permission for public livestreaming of every cartoon and audio track in the program. YouTube says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If its systems identify a match, a placeholder may appear and YouTube may warn you to stop using the material; leaving it in the stream can result in interruption or termination. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption: YouTube advises asking the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm that your permission covers the relevant territory, the video and its music, and the intended livestream use.
Set the audience field accurately. If the stream is made for children, YouTube disables features including live chat and personalized ads. Monetization, if relevant, depends on YouTube Partner Program eligibility; a continuous stream does not by itself establish eligibility or guarantee revenue.

Create the YouTube stream and connect the PC
- Enable livestreaming. In YouTube Studio, confirm that livestreaming is available for your channel. Complete verification and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation if needed.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream using the encoder workflow. Choose the protocol supported by your encoder and the stream configuration shown in Studio. YouTube documents RTMP/RTMPS workflows and also supports HLS for compatible encoders.
- Copy the connection details privately. Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in Studio before broadcasting.
- Configure your video and audio source. Set the encoder to play the cartoon recording or playlist you have rights to use. Choose resolution, bitrate and other output settings based on the actual PC, the source files and measured upload capacity; the label “spare PC” is not enough to establish a safe setting. Do not assume that a particular machine can encode a particular resolution without testing it.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Start sending the feed, then wait for it to appear in YouTube’s Live Control Room preview. Check that both video and audio are present and correct before you select the control to go live.
- Monitor the running broadcast. Watch for changes in stream quality and confirm the source continues playing. For longer operation, monitor the stream and check that any local recording file is still growing.
Choose settings and test the spare PC
YouTube recommends upload capacity with 20% headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. Measure the connection’s upload performance under realistic conditions, then leave that margin rather than using the full available capacity for the stream. If other devices or applications use the same connection, account for their traffic too.
There is no universal resolution or bitrate that can be recommended for an unspecified PC. Test the selected encoder settings with your source video and connection, checking for dropped frames, unstable playback, audio problems, overheating or other signs that the PC cannot sustain the workload. If the encoder offers RTMP/RTMPS and HLS, choose the option supported by your setup: HLS has higher latency than RTMP and has additional segment and transport requirements. A 24/7 schedule is not, by itself, a reason to choose HLS.

- Test a representative section of the actual playlist, including its audio and any transitions.
- Run the encoder and source playback together long enough to reveal stability problems before depending on the stream.
- Check the YouTube preview and accessibility before going live.
- Decide how playback will continue when a file ends and what you will do if the PC, encoder or connection stops. YouTube’s setup guidance does not prescribe a particular playlist-automation or automatic-restart application.
Plan for 24/7 operation and archives
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not rely on one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast to produce a complete YouTube replay. If preserving the program matters, make a local recording and check that it is being written correctly.
Local recording needs enough disk space for the material being saved, and the PC must be able to record and stream at the same time. Check available storage and test concurrent recording before the long broadcast. Existing adequate storage may be enough; an external drive is an optional backup if you need more capacity, not a required part of the YouTube setup.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
