Short answer: VLC can broadcast a playlist of music files over a network, but VideoLAN’s documented workflow is not a complete, verified VLC-to-YouTube setup. YouTube requires an encoder to connect to the stream URL and key shown in Live Control Room. Before you put Malayalam music on air, confirm your channel is eligible and that you have the necessary rights for every recording and composition.
What VLC can—and cannot—do here
VideoLAN documents a VLC VLM workflow for broadcasting successive media files over a network. Its example uses MP3 inputs, sends the output over HTTP and keeps the output open as one song ends and the next begins. That can help with playlist playback, but it is not documented as a YouTube ingest configuration.

YouTube’s documented encoder workflow instead connects an encoder to the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room. The reviewed official instructions do not provide a complete bridge from VLC’s playlist output to YouTube Live ingest, so do not assume VLC alone can send a playlist directly to YouTube or treat the two workflows as a tested integration. See VideoLAN’s VLM documentation and YouTube’s encoder guide.

Confirm the channel can go live
- Your channel must be verified.
- It must not have a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- You must be at least 16 years old to livestream.
- First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned launch.
Check YouTube’s current live-streaming eligibility and setup requirements before scheduling.

Clear every track for livestream use
Secure the rights required for both the recordings and the underlying compositions in your playlist. YouTube scans livestreams for matches to third-party content and can interrupt or terminate a stream. Malayalam-language music is not exempt from these checks.
If you have a licence for third-party music, ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A licence by itself may not prevent an interruption if the material is not allowlisted. YouTube explains its process in Copyright issues with live streams.

- VLC for Kindle plays most local video and audio files, as well as network streams (including adaptive streaming), like the desktop version of VLC.
- VLC for Kindle has a media library for audio and video files, and allows to browse folders directly.
- VLC has support for multi-track audio and subtitles. It supports auto-rotation, aspect-ratio adjustments, hardware acceleration and gestures to control volume.
- It also includes a widget for audio control, supports audio headsets control, cover art and a complete audio media library.
Build and check the playlist in VLC
Use VLC’s VLM playlist-broadcast example as a reference for the playlist side of the setup. It lists successive MP3 inputs, sends them over HTTP and sets sout-keep so the output remains open across song transitions. Consult VideoLAN’s VLM documentation for the documented configuration.
Before moving on, confirm that the files you intend to use appear in the playlist in the right order and that VLC advances from one file to the next. This verifies playlist behavior; it does not verify that YouTube can ingest VLC’s network output. Do not substitute an assumed bitrate, resolution or keyframe setting for a YouTube ingest configuration: the official materials reviewed here do not establish those settings for a direct VLC-to-YouTube workflow.

Create the YouTube stream and connect an encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule the livestream. YouTube’s encoder workflow is documented in its encoder guide.
- Open the Stream tab and copy the stream URL and stream key. Treat the key as private; use the values shown for your stream in Live Control Room.
- Configure an encoder that can send to YouTube. Enter the URL and key in that encoder’s stream settings. VLC’s documented HTTP playlist output is not, by itself, evidence that VLC can accept and use YouTube’s ingest details.
- Prefer RTMPS when the encoder supports it. In Live Control Room, open the lock control beside Stream URL to retrieve the RTMPS URL, then use it with the stream key. RTMPS is RTMP over a TLS/SSL connection. If the connection fails, confirm the URL begins with
rtmpsand that the encoder supports RTMPS. See YouTube’s RTMPS instructions. - Start the encoder and check Live Control Room. Starting the encoder sends content to YouTube. For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview and select “Go live” in Live Control Room if prompted.
Plan for interruptions and recordings
The connection instructions do not promise that a local computer, VLC process or home internet connection will stay up for 24 hours. Decide who will monitor the playlist and respond if playback, the encoder or the connection stops. Also decide whether a separate recording process is needed.
YouTube automatically archives livestreams only when they are under 12 hours. A single 24/7 session is therefore not a sound basis for promising a complete archive. If keeping the full program matters, plan separate recordings or sessions rather than relying on YouTube’s automatic archive. See YouTube’s stream archive guidance.

Choose an implementation by the job it must do
The documented components answer different needs: VLC VLM can broadcast a playlist over a network; YouTube’s workflow needs an encoder connected with the Live Control Room URL and key. When evaluating a setup, check that it can:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- advance or loop the licensed playlist as intended;
- send to YouTube’s supplied ingest URL and key, preferably over RTMPS if supported;
- recover from failures and make clear who monitors interruptions and copyright notices; and
- handle recording independently of YouTube’s under-12-hour automatic archive behavior.
These are practical evaluation criteria, not a benchmark of particular VLC-to-YouTube configurations. YouTube’s encoder guide also lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded video; that is an alternative to consider, not part of the VLC workflow.
