To set up a Samsung Galaxy Watch8, use a compatible Android phone, install or update the Galaxy Wearable app, enable Bluetooth, then follow the pairing prompts on both devices. The Watch8 series does not support iPhone pairing.
Check that your phone is compatible
Samsung’s current compatibility guidance lists Android 12.0 or later and at least 1.5 GB of RAM as the baseline for phones paired with the Galaxy Watch8 series. iOS is unsupported. Meeting those minimums does not guarantee that every phone model will work, so check Samsung’s compatibility guidance for your exact model if you are unsure. Samsung Canada updated its guidance on September 11, 2026; the listed Android requirement is Android 12.0 or later.

Pair the Galaxy Watch8 with your phone

Install or update Galaxy Wearable. Get the app from an official app store, or update it if it is already on your phone. Samsung identifies Galaxy Wearable as the app for initial setup and phone-side watch management. See Samsung Canada’s setup guide.

Turn on Bluetooth and power on the watch. Keep the phone and watch close together while they connect.

Start setup in the app. Open Galaxy Wearable and tap Start. Samsung Canada’s guide gives this instruction: “Step 1. Open the Galaxy Wearable app, then tap Start.”

Confirm the pairing on both devices. Select or confirm the Watch8 when the app prompts you. Accept the connection on the phone and watch, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

The names and order of screens can vary by phone, watch model, and software version. If the wording differs, follow the prompts shown on your devices.

Bring the devices closer. Samsung lists a maximum Bluetooth connection range of 10 m (32 ft), but the actual distance can vary with the environment. Move the phone and watch near each other and remove obstacles between them.

Check the app and Bluetooth. Confirm Bluetooth is on and that Galaxy Wearable is installed and up to date.

Restart and try again. Restart both the phone and watch, reopen Galaxy Wearable, and retry setup. Samsung’s connection troubleshooting guidance recommends checking range and the app, then restarting the devices and relaunching the app.

Recheck phone compatibility. If the app still cannot find or pair with the watch, verify the phone’s Android version, RAM, and exact model against Samsung’s compatibility guidance. A phone can meet the baseline and still be unsupported.

Can I pair a Galaxy Watch8 with an iPhone?
No. Samsung lists iOS as unsupported for Galaxy Watch8 series pairing. Use a compatible Android phone for initial setup and phone-side management.
